Not sure why they stay with 2 valves, but I'm OK with it. (I own the 1100 Monster, but you could ask the same question of it). Adjusting 8 desmo valves would be expensive. The other thing is that the power is fine. I know I'm showing my age, but...how much power do you need? Over the years, I have come to value torque over max HP and would rather power be made where I use it - under 9000rpm. There's a bit less peak adrenaline, but more fun. The Monster is the most fun bike I've ever owned.

Im going to a 14t front sprocket. The bogging down low is horrible. Bike handles like a dream!

Heeey... I know I've watched this before but i ended up buying a 11 Duc Monster 796 as my first bike a little over two years ago. I plan to keep this as long as i can. I tend to use things until they die out..

im just curious as to why ducati went with 2 valves per cylinder as opposed to 4, you would think since they push the fact that the monster is a sporty bike, they would do that, im sure it would not only improve horsepower but may be some MPG's ? just curious, cuz i grew up being taught that DOHC is better than SOHC

800cc twin bogs at low RPM? Do not want.

Eh, my CBR has a -1 front sprocket. Really it's a tiny difference, like 7%. I doubt that will make or break anything.

Im not sure its an insurance thing, well certainly not in the UK. My 2012 1100 Evo cost £165 for comprehensive insurance! I was amazed, that's the lowest of any bike I've ever had.

I've read that it's 1.2 inches higher than the 696, and something like .3-.5 inches shorter than the 1100.
