I am new to your channel and really enjoyed the simple to follow steps for care of this beautiful cattleya. I live in Lake Worth, FL and recently purchased mine from Krull- Smith at the 2022 Tamiami International Orchid Festival in Miami-Dade County, FL. Their selection and obvious care for their plants made this slightly more expensive purchase worth it. I am never disappointed with anything they grow. Thank you and I look forward to more of your videos.

Another great video on bifoliates!😃😃 I love that you kind of went with the ‘extremes’. One video featuring the smallest and this vid for one of the largest. Nice contrast;) I picked up my first ones from SVO last winter (2 of each color forms) and they are doing so well. I’m going to really enjoy watching these grow into the big mama jamas that they are meant to be. I need to keep an eye out for an alba form now!

Well done!! Probably the most thorough description of the species I have ever heard. Especially the history of the name confusion (I still tend to call it guttata). Do you mind if I give you a mention in one of my future videos?

Hi Carlos! We met at Tamiami 2019 and I get lots of stuff from SVO. I have a Q. I have a leopoldii (4N) x dowiana seedling about 3 in. and I'm wondering if you would suggest mounting it or if it would prefer being potted as it grows older?? (S. Florida) Thanks again for all the great content!

Hola greetings from Germany. I recently acquired a leopoldii coerulea. I have it in SH but got a dry layer on the top (I have a fan working the whole day) I did repot it when I got it and it is growing a new growth. She is growing the new shoot but the PB are shriveled. I added a layer of Spag moss to the top because one root dried out. my question since I do not see roots developing. When can I expect new roots? once the new PB is done growing? Note: humidity 70% Light South window second best light after Vanda. water once a week with fertilizing (flushing once a month) Spag,moss wet when dried. thanks for your advice

Hey Ana DAnaya! Your C. tigrina will begin to produce roots once the new pseudobulb matures. Shrivelled pseudobulb can be a sign of over watering as well as underwatering, how did the roots look like when you reported your plant? Did it have healthy live roots or no? If you'd like to send me pictures of your plant in SH, you can do so @ the.orchid.geek@gmail.com Thanks for asking!
@anadanaya1867

thank you for your reply. The roots were very poor (only 4 ) from the new PB all others were dead. After moving it to SH one of the 4 roots dried out (so strange) so now it has 3 roots that i hope will survive until the new grow is fully developed. the new growth is opening the 2 leaves (so cute)! thank you for your email contact that I will use to send you some pictures this weekend. Peace ;) and thank you

I have it in SH and the new growth is opening the new leaves so I do not want to mess up again with the roots :) so I can only show you a photo of the plant , OK?

@@anadanaya1867 I wouldn't want you to disturb the plant, a picture of the orchid would be fine. From what I am reading, it appears it should recover.

In the beginning of Orchid Culture Royal Gardeners planted Orchids in dirt available for normal gardening and of course failed. The Royals wanted to know WHY these idiots failed when they succeded in regular Gardening so sent other expeditions SPECIFICALLY to study where they were growing and what conditions they grew in. Thus began the race to gain the Orchids of the world in the culture they grew in for the Royal Houses of Western European Culture and was considered to be the utmost in High Society for whichever HOUSE had the greatest collection. This battle continues even unto this day with not Royal Houses competing but individual growers seeking success of new Hybrids. This is how the PEOPLE subjugated the Royals and gained recognition in Orchid growing Society and still do to this day. Only now every culture fights to create Orchid dominance. The Truth is we should all forget the Royals and their pretend dominance and grow to Have Life, and Have it More Abundantly, we do not need permission to create BEAUTIFUL!
