He was an all around great man, husband and father. His passing left a hole in our hearts and the world. RIP EVH. Gone, but never forgotten.

@@pedraw I remember in the 80s "photo by Neil Zlozower" was like on every single pic in all the metal mags, Hit Parader, Cream, Circus. Its like, who is this guy? He shot everybody. I dont see that book on Amazon or even a google search, but it was an incredible book.

To me, Eddie Van Halen was the one innovative guitarist of the last 100 years. You've got guys that are faster and more technical. But Ed was a great rhythm player, a great song writer, and one of the 3 part harmonies of the classic Van Halen sound. And of course, his crazy solos and a pretty damn good keyboardist. So what else can you really say. Always sending fresh and never forgotten. I'm glad I lived in the VH Era and saw them live 12-13 times w/ Dave before Sammy. Thanks for all the great memories. 🤘

When I first heard eruption, I couldn't believe how it was even possible to play like that. I thought there was some kind of overdub guitar track when he was doing the tapping part. I was 17 and been playing guitar for about two year prior. When I finished hearing the entire album, I was so blown away, that at one point I thought about giving up the guitar. Back in the 80s, every guitar player wanted to play like Eddie including myself. He really had a huge impact not only to me, but to guitar players world wide. Long live king Eddie.

Watching this and hearing Neil talk about the set list, I remembered when I saw VH in 04. I had 8th row seats and Eddie was on my left when they finished a song. I remember watching him looking around at the stage floor then he shrugged his shoulders and did this jump. What I found out the next day while listening to the radio was when some guy called in talking about the show he said at the moment he snatched Mike’s taped down set list while Ed was standing there. Ok, not relevant to anything Neil is talking about but I just wanted to share this story. RIP King Edward!

What an utterly fascinating, informative and entertaining video, of probably the single most important and influential band of my youth . First there was the Beatles, than Jimi ,than the Mighty VH that blew the wig off of a very guitar obsessed 14 year old. I loved Eddie then, and i love him now. Thank you so much Neil. You were able to experience some amazing times in the most amazing era's. And made a living while doing it . But most importantly, you created one amazing, historically important catalog of epic photos that will be around for generations, documenting a very important and Paradigm Shifting guitar player.. Eddie Van Halen. R.I.P. Ed. And thank you for it all. And Neil, im getting my hands on a copy of this tome of jaw-dropping photos. Thank you!!

Growing up in suburbia Australia in the 70's and 80's we were isolated and knew very little of what was happening in the metal world. Metal magazines was all I had. I use to to see Neil credited in fine print on all VH photos and wondered who he was, how many VH shows did he see, what was his association with the band etc. After 35+ years this is the first time ive seen or heard him. Fascinating for a life long VH fan.

Some fantastic history of Van Halen. Another little known fact is int 1984 tour when they came to Las Vegas Nevada, myself was int eh back of a Red Datsun pickup truck with a camper shell with a few friends. My mother was driving. We all go towards the cab smacking onto the back of the cab, the truck stops, and we hear, you f*cking bitch you almost killed me. We were all popping out the back of the truck to see what was going on. It was David Lee Roth and my mother who nearly ran him over while he was riding a 10 speed bike before the concert. I guess he was out warming up and seeing what was going on before the show. This was outside the Thomas and Mack Center. So know, we almost lost David Lee Roth that day. I wonder is he remember that? My mother was in love with him and she passed away about a few months ago still loving Van Halen.
