Im actually currently on a quest 2 and ive been wanting to pick up a quest 3 for a long time but it was never in my budget. Now that the quest 3s is out, im actually gonna pick one up today once I get my paycheck. Im pretty excited to use mixed reality and I personally think the "spider eye" cameras look really cool

I tried the 3s for a couple of hours the biggest issue I had is it never seemed to be in focus, even the clearest spot was hard to keep the headset in that perfect spot as it moves around. if you can grab the 3 or try out both if you can. This is a fantastic video for people who can't try them out but deciding between them.

It's amazing what a difference a higher panel resolution and clearer optical stack can make. It almost looks like 3 different generations. Honestly this is what I was expecting the evolution of vr to look like back in quest 1 days.

I had the chance to grab a quest 3 cheaper (my sister flew abroad). Still very expensive, but no regrets. I upgraded from Quest 2 to quest 3. Many warned me it was not necessary, but after some time I feel it was the right decision. This video is great! I feel even more secure about my purchase.

Surprised that there is actually a difference between the Q2 and Q3S, the Quest 3 kind of looks like the Quest 2 with glasses. Happy with this lineup though--the Quest 3 is definitely still worth it, but the Quest 3S is worth it on its own merits as well if someone can't afford the extra couple hundred dollars.

The Quest 3S is a great successor to the Quest 2. A great entry to jump in, but after using the Quest 3 pancake lenses, it is really hard to go back. But when budget is a concern, Quest 3S does well

I was almost tempted to get the 3s as its definitely more 'in budget' for me, and partly out of not being very patient. But this video has confirmed, the 3 is worth waiting a little longer for. Its not even close for me now, seeing the dashboard and AR footage! Thank you for such a clear and informative video!

I think the Quest 3 really proved its worth with that mixed reality comparison. 3S already looked marginally better than the 2 even disregarding colour, but the 3 looked like there wasn't a screen at all in comparison.

I have the quest 3S, I bought it to replace my broken Q2. Because my Q2 stopped working, I dont have a direct side by side comparision like you do. But my impressions are: The image quality is slighty better but not in a very noticable way. The audio in Q2 was better than in 3S because 3S has just too much bass boost that makes me feel uncomfortable. But I guess that is solvable with software updates. Genereal comfort is also much higher even with the standard strapes. All in all: If you new to VR or want to replace a broken Q2, this could be a good choice. But if you have a working Q2, either update to the full Q3 or keep on playing with Q2. If you have lucky it survives long enough that you can jump directly to Q4 in one or two years.

Quest 3, with GGO, black level enhancement, and contrast turned up a little, is really amazing to see. It's honestly the best entertainment purchase I have ever made, and I have a psvr2. Couldn't recomend it enough.

@@cuffia5189 be sure to inspect the lenses, theyre somewhat easy to mess up, never wear it with glases without a spacer (the 2 pieces touching can easily scratch the lens) and never leave it in sunlight

That's what I did. Refurbished is basically brand new condition even comes with all the plastic lense peel off and the tabs for batteries in controllers. I was pleasantly surprised how good the Refurbished one is

$299 or $499 the middle child just doesn’t make sense for an extra $100 you get pancake lenses and twice the storage with better LCD panels. Should have been $299-$349-$499. I’m also glad you explained rendering because a lot of people are under the impression that if the LCD panel say it’s 4K that means you’re watching it in 4K, which is not the case. I used the same comparison when trying to explain this to someone … it didn’t work 😂

Just what I was looking for! I traded in my Quest 2 today to get store credit towards either a Quest 3S or Quest 3 and was stuck trying to decide which was right for me. This has helped me choose to go for the Quest 3 because I think the difference in clarity/resolution justifies the higher price. I could never get the lenses right on the Q2 it was always blurry because my eyes mustn’t fit any of the 3 positions you can adjust them to. The pancake lenses that self adjust will be a game changer for me!

It depends on your PC, but I can say with a 5950x/3090 it is similar to what the graphics to going from 3s to 3. The biggest improvement is fps and higher resolution textures. Equals more realism and less motion blur.

I am getting a 3S because my Q2 has horrible drift and I want the 4 year newer screen and APU. I still use my Q1 when I feel like having that beautiful OLED screen though.

I'm about to buy the Oculus Quest 3 for $399 this month, yes, but now I've changed my mind. I want the Meta Quest 3 because it has cleaner lenses, so yes, the Quest 3's lenses should be cleaner than the Quest 3. The Quest 3 looks a little darker and should be lighter than the Quest 3 of all. Anyway, I don't have you here. The most dramatic advantage of the Quest 3 over its predesesors are the pancake lenses! Fresnel lenses of the other two are terrible in my opinion!

I have watched several comparisons on other channels. I concluded the same thing but yours was technically and completely clear, those side-by-side comparisons were awesome and I'm glad you did it with the videos as well as the stills. The only downside I see is that maybe the Quest 3 will sunset sooner (and my old eyes probably can't tell much difference) but I'm still going to save for the Quest 3. Thanks so much!

It's worth noting that the Quest 3S uses the same render resolution as the Quest 3, so even though the display resolution is lower, it still looks a tiny bit nicer compared to the 2.

It's nice to have options. I didn't seem to realize how drastically clearer the pancake lenses and extra resolution of the Q3 was than the Q2. The Q3S seems to shine over the Q2 mostly in mixed reality especially. The colors look a little more faded compared to Q3 but still such a huge improvement over the unusable Q2 passthrough. Considering Q3S can play all the same games Q3 can, though, for a smaller price I'd consider gifting it to someone to play multiplayer with. If you can afford Q3, absolutely worth it. It's widely acclaimed as a headset even among PCVR users for a reason. Pick your budget and you honestly still can't go too wrong though.

The 3 is the best by a LONG shot. It’s way more than graphics. The AR components and games are wild as long as you have decent environmental lighting. I have actually reached up to move a menu with my hand and laughed when I remembered it’s AR. The IPD adjustment and pancake lenses alone make it the best option, and the rest are just bonuses.

Quest 3 looks really freakin' good... I was thinking to maybe go with the more budget friendly 3S for my first proper VR headset, but this convinced me otherwise. I will say though, it does appear the 3S ALWAYS looks better than the two, despite same screen resolution and lens type. Perhaps games are running at the higher Quest 3 resolution and providing additional anti-aliasing..? Edit: You covered this later, and thanks so much for it. You really helped me towards the best decision IMO.

Great review/comparison, unfortunately the titles (with the device name) are often covered by KZbin's interface (seek bar, info, etc). This is a big problem when I pause the video, seek back/forth to review some details, etc. I'd position your titles slightly differently. Also, it's MUCH easier to compare quality on a SPLIT SCREEN rather than with the "sliding reveal". The reveal makes it pretty difficult to make a direct comparison because it "eats away" what you just showed.

wow, on the Quest 2 everything looks like it's been smeared with vaseline compared to the quest 3. The sweet spot is so small, and you get light rays that make everything look out of focus. Those pancake lenses really make a big difference.

I really want to get a Q3 mostly for its lenses, but I don't like how you lose the IR passthrough. On PC I run my Q2 at the max resolution of 5408 x 2736 and you really need to look for the screen door effect, on standalone Q2 is mostly the blurryness that comes from some games and the less graphical power of the Q2. The IR passthrough of the Q2 is really useful, and fun if you have an IR flashlight to make yourself some nice night vision goggles lol.

Quest 2 = "1832 x 1920p" and "Snapdragon XR2 Gen 1" / more blur Quest 3s = "1832 x 1920p" and "Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2" / fewer blur Quest 3 = "2064 x 2208p" and "Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2" / no blur

it feels odd to me cause it seems like the q3 was filmed on a better camera in my opinion.... kinda crazy how the same proccessor made the q3s have a slight yellow tint compared to the q3.

I thought the the quest 3s and quest were the same in graphic but there a slight better difference where as quest 3 beats both of them by visual and performance

I've had trouble with the controllers on the quest 3s I've had to take back the first one and the second one is doing the same thing . The problem is the rear triggers spring or something along those lines . One side will be fine while the other feels off and makes noise

REQUEST! : USE Resident Evil 4! It runs an OPTIMIZATION for hardware and the game has not had any updates to its textures for the 3. It might be a great time to show the differences there!

Own a quest 2. Bought my son the 3s for Christmas but now debating on if I take it back and put up the extra 200$ for the 3. I’m also going to be playing it (dad perks 😂) and I want to feel a difference going from the quest 2 to 3

For visuals, the Quest 3 wins. Clarity is much better on Text and overall graphics. The Quest 3 S is better than the Quest 2. I already have the Quest 3, so I don't need to go out and also buy any of the other 2 headsets. They are all good headsets, it depends on what you use them for. Nice that the 3S is a lower market cost for people first entering the VR world.

I wish the Quest 3 had atleast 10GB RAM. It always runs out so fast in VRChat. I mean, if they even make a 3 and a 3S Version of the Current generation, why does they dont add more RAM on the Quest3 Version? if there is still a cheaper alternative for those peoples, that can't afford the powerfull version. I mean, if someone can afford a Quest 3 instead of paying for a 3S, why not make it a little more expensive with 12 GB inside of it?
