I think it was billboard who placed f(x)’s pink tape at #1 album of the decade, after 10 years of it being released. It is literally considered the blueprint for a lot of groups in the recent generations of kpop

Ugh god I miss f(x) so much 😭 There is no group like them, truly. Some of their songs could be released now and still feel new, cool and relevant. I love the outrageous 2nd gen fashion, I don't care 😂. The kids may laugh but at the rate we are moving from 80s to 90s to Y2K they'll be wearing it soon 🤣 In my opinion they are SM's biggest wasted potential. They made a mistake debuting a new girl group when Girls' Generation were still at their peak, because they often got ignored. Not by the public (their songs charted generally well) but by SM. Towards the end it was abysmal. They didn't get a concert or fandom name until 2016 (they debuted in 2009 😭). They never had a lightstick... SM wouldn't give them an MV for All Mine so Amber directed and edited it herself 😭😭 You can't make this shit up. This is SM, the biggest entertainment company in Korea at the time. Although, saying all that I really do appreciate that they let Amber be her authentic self without squishing her into the typical female idol mold of the time 10:47 I feel like you missed this incredibly important moment where Victoria is flexing (literally) so hard in the background 😂 her flexibility is insane Yes, Krystal is Jessica's sister 😂 (though everyone says she looks more like Yoona) I can't wait til you hear the b-sides, because if you think the title tracks are experimental...🤣 Pink Tape *is* a masterpiece. And so is the Red Light album. My least favourite track on Red Light is Red Light 🤣 that says something because I usually love the title tracks the most. But that's just how good the B-sides are.

f(x)! They were my ults up until Sulli left (which was before she passed away), I'm excited to watch you dive in. Pink Tape is especially good, widely considered one of the best albums in K-Pop history.

Luna’s pipes in Nu Abo is just incredible. I was meh on F(x) until Spotify added that song to a suggested daily mix, and then I had a “Rogue-like” reaction. What!! What!!! My god that song. And since then I really have enjoyed the songs (and Ambers rap) that I was lukewarm on before. Great stuff.

f(x) is my favorite k-pop group of all time next to Girls' Generation. They were so cool! So experimental (though their name is not pronounced as 'function', the name refers to their experimental concept). The discography is just amazing. In your own time, I highly recommend it, cause of course you can't get to everything here. The Pink Tape is regarded as one of the best kpop albums of all time!

I have no shame and shall share my love of f(x) to literally anyone who will listen. This group had such a hook on me in the 2010s and it really didn't go away until they unofficially disbanded (they technically didn't actually, sometimes Luna mentions this, but the likelihood of a comeback is so small considering where they are all at in their careers). I kind of fell out of Kpop after that, with some mixed feelings for the industry, but I'll always hold a special place in my heart for them. Their music was so different and cool and I liked other Kpop music, but nothing nearly ever as much. Luna is the one known for the high note vocals. She's done some excellent broadway work as well because her vocals are so incredibly strong. Krystal is the other major singer I would say, indeed Jessica's little sister and a well known bias wrecker. Her looks have always been stunning. She is mostly an actress now and does very well! Victoria is one of their main dancers, very flexible doing the flips throughout. She's Chinese and does lots of promotions there now with acting and singing as well. Sulli is one of the younger members, she's always had this bubbly silly personality and it has given her a kind and gentle energy about her. It was so unfortunate to see some of the responses to her when she had such genuine energy and care for making the world a better place (especially for women in South Korea). She did have a succesful actress career after she left f(x), I wish the end to her story was happier but I still have so much love for everything that she was. Amber will forever be my bias though. She held onto her cool androgynous style, had excellent vocals and raps, and was always so personable. I was happy to meet her and watch her performance in concert twice in New York. I love hearing all of the different sounds she puts out now and she is unafraid to do solo work without publishing companies, it's nice to hear her sound and what she has to say. I can recommend approximately their entire discography front to back and to watch every single one of their live performances. I am not joking

My first ever exposure to kpop was a tourist ad that I saw in Hong Kong where 2pm was promoting Seoul and the song was kinda good ahha. Then I heard about SNSD, Fx, 2ne1 amd big bang. 2nd Gen kpop is my favorite. Victoria is my bias and I watched her on we got married. Her and Nickhun from 2pm were my obsessions lmao.From there I learned the language ❤❤❤😅

Geezzz this really was a throwback, i remember when they debuted. And yes Krystal is Jessica's sister (she was the first one who sang in the last two songs), and they do sound very much alike when they are singing. And if you dont already know, unfortunately Jessica left girls generation around 2013-2015 timeframe (in between their "Mr Mr" and "Catch me if you can" eras), due to ridiculous things that happened at that time within the group and the company too. One of the reasons i stopped listening to girls generation regularly, since i was a SONE (girls generation fandom) since their debut. But anyway, Yes, F(x) does have unique sounds, their house/trap beats are primary, within experimentations. Since f(x) does mean function in math, and you can plug in any type of function, which is why their songs are unique. And to point out, Sulli (the one who passed away tragically), is primarily the one in the braided pigtails or ponytail in the MVs. Other members: Luna is primarily the main vocalist (the one who sang the higher notes/adlibs) Victoria was i believe the leader, i think she's a chinese member. I think in the mvs in this video, she didnt have much of a presence, since she might not have been confident with her Korean at that time) And of course you already know Amber.

In La Cha Ta, each member has a room themed for them: Luna has the moon, Krystal has crystals, Amber has embers/fire, Sulli loved stuffed animals. I don't know what the angle for Victoria's room was.

Oh, when doing their earliest songs, you need to see their Chocolate Love video!! I think technically it was their 3rd video, but many lists don't include it due to it being a joint project. However it was quite popular & even one of those specially requested when they did a live show for the soldiers. The LG phone people were prepping to release their new Chocolate phone, & wanted catchy ads for it. They found a songwriter to write a sexy song with "chocolate love" as the main hook. But they didn't want just 1 style, as the ads would be aired around the world & catered to different audiences. They came to SM & said they wanted 2 girl groups with different sounds to do 2 interpretations of it, full music videos that would stand alone but also have snippets used in the phone ads. SM decided that the established & adored SNSD (Girls Gen) & the newly debuted experimental f(x) were perfect to juxtapose each other & the fact that Jessica's actual little sister Krystal was in f(x) would even get fans to check out both versions. Both groups recorded their videos, released the same day as the ads, & there was a surprise that at the start of each video there's an opening scene where 1 group "discovers" the other group singing, to get in a sneak peak of the other version.😂 Both versions are good, but f(x) KILLED it & showed their sexy side. The f(x) version was used in Europe & North American ads, most of Asia got the SNSD version, some places got both I think. PS: Like Krystal, Amber does have a sister a few years older (named Jackie, & whom her dog JackJack is affectionately named after) but her sister has never worked as an entertainer of any kind. Their mom was a model in Taiwan in her late teens/early 20s, but then she moved to the US & there met her husband, also an immigrant from Taiwan. Luna has a fraternal twin sister that is a singer, but not in pop. Her sister decided to follow their mom & grandma in doing opera & classical singing. They have performed together on a few special occasions doing classical stuff, but Luna has always loved dance, acting, & pop style music equally & hence her love of doing musicals. (Their older brother & dad are music writers & play instruments also, but not singers.) Sulli was not an only child, she had (has? He's still alive) an older brother. The only f(x) member with no siblings is Victoria, being from China from before the lifting of the "1 child only" policy.

(it does mean "function", but its true that it's just pronounced fx)~ krystal is sica's sister! they were scouted together at the same time on a family vacation to korea. i believe theyre really close(which is curious to me as someone who also has a younger sister) usually the members(of groups i dont consider myself a big fan of) that i know the most about are the actors(so in this case krystal, who HAS been on a lot of great stuff. she has a cameo in one of my all time favorite dramas even), but i feel like i've actually heard the most out of luna. still (by nakjoon), a song she featured on, is a song ive been obsessed with since it came out. and her collab with solar and hani is, like, legendary. also, fun fact, she's in a lot of musicals, gabriella hsm, elle woods, sophie mamma mia, scarlett ohara? wild list of credits sulli's last song(goblin. which was also her solo debut) was such a masterpiece. its hard to watch without heart pain, it was so close to her passing, but it really was automatically one of the best of the year, in a year which(if you *only* look at the music and nothing else. if you look at everything else then it was a horrible terrible year.) was positively wild. it feels like a very personal experience, i really recommend you watch the video on your own time. the fx in my memories was a lot more(personally) hit or miss. i dont know whats going on that im really vibing rn

Owwww my girls! ❤ F(x) introduced me into kpop back in 2009. It's been so many years and i can't move on. Really, there's no body like them. I still listening to kpop but very few groups and definitely there's no other gg for me but them (and Mamamoo). However, F(x) are my #1 no matter what. ❤

Sulli can always be recognised as the tallest one. One of her nicknames was Giant Baby. Idk what it is about SM, they often have maknaes who tower over the older members 😂 I think because a lot of Kpop fans these days joined after her passing, who she was gets somewhat overshadowed by the facts of her death. Sulli never really had a childhood, her mother turned her into a child actor when she was really young. She moved to Seoul by herself when she was in fourth grade in order to pursue acting. She secured her first professional acting role when she was 11. Also when she joined SM. Her real name is Jinri, which means ‘The Truth’. A random reporter felt that the name was too Christian and named her Sulli instead. So she went with it. As a trainee, she lived in a dorm with Taeyeon and Tiffany. They adopted her as their baby and really loved her. They had to leave when they moved to the SNSD dorm and debuted. Iirc after that, she lived alone until F(x)’s debut in 2009. I get the impression that she grew up quite lonely. She was the visual of F(x). She and Krystal were by far the most popular domestically. Things only started going downhill with her dating scandal. She dated Choiza from Dynamic Duo. Honestly, I do think it was really Kpop scandalous. His stage name means ‘Big d!ck’. And after their relationship was revealed, he didn’t try to protect her image and released songs where he talked about ‘ruining’ her in bed. It really was gross. But after that, there was no stop to the nasty comments. Even something as little as not wearing a bra under her shirt resulting in so much hate. And SM were absolutely useless. Instead of releasing statements about potential lawsuits for these bullies, they sent her on a tv show to read the nasty comm out loud. Sulli was a sensitive sweetheart, a genuinely good person. But no one protected her.

f(x) was done so dirty by SM. Even though they were experimental, they were still really popular, and could have been MUCH more successful, but SM didn't promote them, took a long time between comebacks, and basically tossed them away after Red Velvet debuted (Don't get me wrong, I LOVE RV, SM just sucks). They didn't even get a fandom name or a concert until 7 YEARS after they debuted. MeU is the fandom name. How to recognized the members, Victoria usually has bangs, and is among the taller in the group, she's also super flexible, so she is the one that did the standing bend over flip in Chu, she is super successful in China, probably there to stay, Krystal the first time I saw her, I thought she was Yoona from SNSD, and she sounds like Jessica (though I can tell them apart easily now), she is a well known actress. Amber you already know, Luna is the shortest in the group, and unfortunately is often overlooked, even though she is the main vocal, and no exaggeration, is one of the top vocalists in 2nd gen, huge voice out of this tiny girl, also the lead dancer. Sulli, I always thought she resembled Sunhwa from Secret, I think she is the tallest in the group, also did some acting. I'm hoping you will be going into their solo stuff as well. Luna debuted solo with her EP - Free Somebody, you will love it, and she's got a bunch of other solo songs as well, she also did a collab with Solar and Hani called Honeybee. She also has a cover of Say So, by Doja Cat, and here is your warning, it's a bit spicy. Amber debuted solo with a song called "Shake that brass", which has an EP, and has done a bunch of other solo songs afterwards. Luna and Amber also have released some dance tracks as a duo, pretty sure you will love them as well. Sulli debuted solo with a song called Goblin.
