Love this! I think you have to be careful not to over think things as far as gear and pre meet rituals and what not. I think the key is are you doing things that make you more anxious or less anxious. I trained with a couple guys in the same season that were both top 5 in the US in hammer that year. The dichotomy between their mentalities and preparation was very interesting. One athlete seemed to make the moment too big in his own head (in my opinion) while the other seemingly rolled into meets like he was at practice with how loose he was. The second athlete threw much further.

At our final meet I was trash talking the seniors of other teams cause I was throwing 55 feet as a sophomore for shot during warmups and when I went to throw I slipped out of the ring all three times and didn't make it to state. Im gonna use these tips to not let that happen again
