One thing I noticed with my son is that sometimes when he tries to throw hard he'll roll his right shoulder foward, resulting in a flat release . Usually with a bad high point or dropping his right arm as the left foot grounds.

To get proper height and good release you want to keep thumb pressure on the disc and the height will come from how arched you are . So having that bend in your right knee will create height.

My friend would praise me on my releases cuz 85-90% of the time it’d be perfect, she also called me coach cuz I managed to teach her how to fix her release, but our actual coach couldn’t 💀

Hey I’m in high school a year into throwing discus. I pretty much have down the stand throw and want to start working in some spin. What are some drills I should practice to help get better at spinning?

Thank you. I'm Mark Connolly and my dad is the last US Men''s hammer throw gold the medalist. On top of that my freaking Mom is also a throw Olympic gold achiever. Yeah she won and then competed in four more Olympics so sixteen years of elite throwing. The funny part of it is I didn't know shot from shinola when my daughter figured a few years ago forget soccer, volleyball or tennis let me do something, Grandma Olga and Grandpa Harold and Uncle Adam were great at, because I might have an edge on my competition right off the bat.

Is it possible for a discus thrower go from 51.00 to 55.00 meters in two months ? If so any tips ?

Focus on stance and flexibility. stretch well and you will see a difference on your throws. being strong is one thing, being flexible and strong is another.

When you say “hold the left” in the finish, do mean to hold the left shoulder squared to the throw or should the left shoulder rotate back at the finish?

Hey dane, I had a disc identical to that blue one that you showed and it was my favorite but I got it from my school and no one knows what the name of it is, I broke it over the summer and if you know the name/brand of those discs could you please let me know. Keep it up and have a good day.

I second the Hollowood. They were a powder blue and made of wood.

2:25 - Can you recommend any specific drill that helps to make it more automatic or do I just need to intentionally raise the hand higher?
@wescraven26062 жыл бұрын
Try using a golf club driver. It really exaggerates your throwing arm and should give you a good feel. It also fixes your low point towards the back of the circle, so don't use a good club.

@@wescraven2606do you know any drill that can keep my right hand behind my leg?
@wescraven26067 ай бұрын
Try doing drills and full spins with a long wet towel or a 5lb barbell plate, with curved edges so you don't cut your finger. Also, John Powell recommended when you start the spin to lock your tricep muscle in that arm and try to keep it locked through the throw. Also try holding your lower leg block in the front of the circle and focus on turning into the delivery.@@ugdobonka531
