You impress me, I love your videos, sharing your knowledge and how the trail is.... I would love to see a demonstration of how you are navigating when you cannot see the trail.

Thanks. When I cant see the trail I use big features when possible. For detail navigation I use the Guthook app on my phone with the phone GPS. Paper maps and compass are backup only. I will try to remember to do a little demonstration in the next section

Kiwi, you are amazing me with your spirit of perseverance, courage, confidence, intelligence with great intuition and love for life. You are an inspiration. I hiked today locally, west of Bishop, and thought of you solo in the wilderness. WOW! You also make great film of the terrain, and are a benefit to those following you who want the 'scoop' . May you find all you need to make it through safely and joyfully!

Yay! Well-deserved trail magic! I've noticed you've never mentioned something that most other hikers have no end of troubles with-blisters on their feet. They've discovered sometimes that their footwear is too small for hiking because your feet swell while hiking, but even people who are prepared and get shoes a little larger than their normal size often end up with blackened toenails and blisters and even open sores on their feet that look just miserable. Some say to prepare for blistered feet, that blisters are inevitable. Have you, with all the hiking you've done, just conditioned your feet to handle hiking, or do you do something special to avoid blisters? Still loving all these videos! May you continue hiking safely and stay strong!

I don't do anything special. I do have shoes with lots of room at the toes. I did get a couple of little blisters in the first week and on the outside of my heel when my first shoes needed replacing but nothing since

@@RestlessKiwiHiker Yeah, I listened carefully to the video about keeping warm in the Sierras, and I think that having good circulation probably plays a part, too.

Hi Kiwi that sore looks quite deep. I had a good tip from a guide to use sanitary pads on any rub points, sticky side on the skin, so want to use them before you have broken skin. Have used them on my shoulders and hip points works really well. The wildflowers are lovely this year.

Mice, voles, and shrews are known to make those tunnels systems under the snow fields. Breaks are important, time to eat a snack and get a drink of water. Oh look, it is the ole snow, dirt, water, more snow than the other two today. the yellow flowers appear to be High mountain hulsea, Hulsea algida, first time I have heard of them. When you least expect them, there they are TRAIL ANGLES!!! SAFE HIKING

Sonora Pass is my old stomping grounds. My folks owned a cabin at Bumblebee on the west side of the pass, close to Pinecrest (on 108). I've gone to Fremont Lake and some other lakes near Sonora Pass. Keep going. You're doing an amazing job!

Congrats on completing the section with the most elevation gain , surprising the next two sections with the most elevation gain is here in Washington . How can that be when you don't go over 8000 feet. I'm wondering if you were shaky in crossing all those logs , did you know Little Skittles fell on a log and bruised her cheek and a big purple bruise on her chin , she's OK.
