Thrust Vector XV Installation Video May 2018

The Twin Engine Lateral Thruster/Thrust Vector XV Combo install was easy but the best part was getting the boat in the water and trying them out. Man, what a difference!! As others have said it's like night and day. Before installing these I didn't have much control on my Yamaha 242 Limited S e series boat at very slow speeds while docking or moving around other boats. 100% difference now! Granted, we are 1st time boat owners but I've driven plenty of other boats, just not a JetBoat. I was able to get this thing tied up to a friend's dock and backed down along another dock to tie up to another friends boat fairly easy, something I would not have attempted without having this kit installed. I've got some more practicing to do but this is making maneuverability of our new Jet Boat a breeze at slow speeds. Will put it back on the trailer tonight so hoping that goes much easier as well!

Video was helpful, however, I would point out the nylon washer that goes under the spring better, I had to disassemble and figure out where it goes by pausing and stopping the video, also should have pointed out that the 4 screws that hold fins brace are all same size, you said the "smaller screws" when putting on the back two, so I took them all off thinking there were 2 small and 2 large, you were talking about them in comparison to the cross member but it threw me off a bit. Otherwise I can't wait to try them out. Thank you Will for all your feedback in the forums and the effort you put into Yamaha jet boat owners, you are MUCH appreciated.

Thanks for the great video and products! I just installed the thrust vectors and lateral thrusters on my 2018 242X. Easy to install and looks to be high quality! Looking forward to trying it out this weekend. Once the thrust vector fins were installed I noticed that the jet nozzles seem out of alignment. The nozzles never looked right to me and with the fins installed the misalignment seems more obvious but the boat always drove ok. I only have 6 hours on it so not a lot of experience yet. Has anyone else noticed this on their boat?

Yours has the Surf Pointe System which features the nozzles turned inboard 7 degrees on each side. We're hearing from some customers that their Thrust Vector fins are rubbing a bit on the anode on the starboard pump and on the inside pump on the port side. We're developing a new set for 2019 which will fit better. If you'd like a newer version we can send the hardware to you once its ready.

Jet BoatPilot thanks for the reply. That makes sense as it is the 242X I should have figured that the nozzle alignment would be different on a wake boat. I will take a closer look to see if anything is touching or rubbing in those areas. Thanks again!

Ordering a 2019 Yamaha AR210 in January. Comes with the lateral thrusters from yamaha, will these fit with the factory ones? Also, is it warrantied as well? What's the advantage to having thrust vectors? Is is for "at speed" turning whereas lateral thrusters are for slow speed manuverability / reverse?

Thrust Vectors are for slow speed maneuvering while moving forward. The current Thrust Vectors won't work on a 2019 model. We are redesigning this week and should have a solid product in a few weeks. You're right, 2019 models will not be compatible with Lateral Thrusters.

How low below the hull do these sit? for example if I wanted to back in the boat back onto shore "by hand manually W/O engine power" will they hit the bottom of the lake and damage the fins? I have a Yamaha sx190 single engine. Thank you

They hang approximately 4-5 inches below the fiberglass keel of the boat. If you want to back the boat in without power I would use a small piece of 2x4 or short section of pool float material. Flip the fins up, insert the 2x4 or float material and then the fins will remain in the up position. When you're ready to go you can remove the obstruction and the fins will drop back down.

Would you install thrust vectors 1st before lateral thrusters or vice versa? If you install TVs can you always add lateral thrusters later?

Depends on your need. What do you do more, low speed forward or tight docking moves and reverse control maneuvers. If you're installing the two at the same time, do the Lateral Thruster first. But yes, you can add to later regardless of which goes on first.

@@JetBoatPilot Bayside JetDrive ....they have locations in Berlin, Md and Ocean View, De. It's the closest Yamaha dealer near me I've been looking at 190FSH, 195FSH and the 210FSH. Quite frankly having a hard time deciding. I dont want to feel bogged down with a few guys on board so the 190 scares me, but then again the 195 seems to use a lot more fuel. The 210 is awesome, but about $13000 more..lol I've watched a ton of your videos on these boats and more Opinion??

Assembly is easier to do when done one fin at a time, especially when it comes time to present the spring tension.

@@Achisachis73 no, for a single engine the Thrust Vector X is $209 and for twin its $419. You may be looking at the Wake version which is also for steering plus watersports enhancement.
