I just finished servicing my servo base. Knowing about those two tabs at the front of the base made all the difference in getting the cover off. : ) The 4 screws that secure the servo motor do pass through slotted holes in the aluminum bracket, so the tension on the belt can be adjusted : ) I have seen another video on YT that shows the main drive belt "snapping" and slipping over the white nylon pinion gear teeth because the belt tension was too loose. I adjusted mine so it is snug again. I added a new leather wrap 28GT wheel and what a world of difference now in the smooth feel of the FF and the grip of the rim!

To turn on the fan without waiting for the motor to heat up press "Mode + ST". Press those at the same time to manually turn the fan on without relying on the heat sensors. Press the 2 buttons again to switch back to the fan getting activated by heatsensor. If you have it in that mode the fan will always be spinning as soon as you plug the wheel in.

@@TheEpyonz Happy to help. Replacing a fan should be easy and cheap enough. Hope you got everything working. There are quite a few handy button combinations on there. Thrustmaster should really do a better job informing people about this. If you notice your wheel is getting a bit off center you can press mode+share+ST for a second and it will recenter it. Hold the wheel in the position that you want to be straight and then press that combo. The light will blink a bit and it will set the position the wheel is in as center.

Thanks for the video Don, it was a really nice clear explanation of how to get it done. The bit with the tabs on the front, especially - I'd ordinarily be a bit hesitant yanking the cover off for fear of breaking stuff so the info about what was there meant I could apply a bit more force and know what I was doing and why. Swapped out my dead fan for one from a spare T300 and it's now working perfectly - you've saved my sanity during corona lockdown!

Just an FYI. Always replace fans with a ball bearing unit. Never use the plastic bushing models. The ball bearing ones almost never fail and are a lot quieter. Also, you can use a wider fan than the one that comes with the unit. just make sure it fits and be aware that some fans will need a wiring mod to make it all work with the existing plug. Nice video...

Excellent dissembly video! It's sad to find out that the 5 center knobs on the F1 wheel are inop. I have a T300 on the way and hope to make mods immediately. One point of constructive criticism: I wish you would have gone over the full uninstall/reinstall of the fan unit. I imagine it's probably 2 screws and molex plug. Otherwise, it's a well organized, thoughtful, clear to see and understand tutorial. Many thanks Sir!

It would be great to see a video of that. We could all learn from seeing it. Question? Does it jerk when the car is at rest? Does it jerk or vibrate going straight? And,,,, most important, what program are you running when it jerks? I run my force feedback a about 8 when iRacing that seems like a really low number but it will wear you out in a race so if your running it a lot higher it may be the program or track. Is this something it just started?

@ryanwilliams8969
@ryanwilliams8969 4 жыл бұрын
The connector type is fairly standard, as found in many PC internals. I had a spare T300 that had knackered electronics so I just raided that. The tricky bit is that the plug is actually buried deep in between the power supply and the block on which the fan sits so if you have fat fingers it's tricky to reach. Pulling it out is easy enough, just tug and it'll come loose (thank god - didn't fancy reaching in there to extract it). Hope this has been of some use to you.

Don LaByer well the "normal" start up calibration is a slow spin to the left then right before Finally stopping at the centre,however mine started spinning violently to the left and right and like you said it seems like it was going to smash itself to bits. So if yours is doing this then I suspect it may be a similar issue. For 18mths I used mine on PC and PS4 with no issues until now.when I contacted thrustmaster they immediately said send it back so I'm guessing they know about this fault

Easy to do, just be sure to use the proper fan, preferably a higher quality fan that moves more air than the stocker. Also make sure the fan is blowing in the same direction as the stock fan, it should be blowing towards the motor. I have had a few apart, actually had 1 where the fan was facing the wrong way(poor quality control i suppose) and its obvious why it burnt up.

Hello , I just recently got this wheel and already exchanged 1 for another after it would heat up and lose all force feed back in less than 30mins of playtime... Absolutely hate this wheel and it's heating problems. My question to you is , is it safe or ok to play with that cover off ?? So everything can breath inside ?? Also got a little desk fan that I want to add on, but it will only go on with the cover off . But is that a safe thing to do ? Please if you can reply asap before I do this and possibly ruin it more
@dlabyer
@dlabyer 2 жыл бұрын
Is it safe? Well they're no high voltages or any power exposed that I know of so it's okay on that point. If I had children or cats in the house I wouldn't run it exposed. If not I don't see a problem with running it open and with a fan running on it. On another note something is wrong with it. It should run all day on high feedback setings without overheating. The only thing that would over heat, motor or power supply. May be the temp sensor is bad?

@@dlabyer Thanks for the quick reply . Yes it overheats rather very quickly, but oddly enough this keeps happening even though I replaced the 1st wheel with yet another brand new one . I don't know if I'm just the unluckiest guy in the world , or if I just keep grabbing all the faulty ones that are sitting on the shelves. I have no cats nor children, I took the cover off yesterday by following this video. I just noticed there's a few parts that have some sort of lubrication / oils of some kind on them , so I was worried that maybe with the cover off they might dry up rather quicker and this might result in a problem? But with that ridiculous cover on nothing gets to breath in there , there's so little ventilation with the tiny useless holes that are there . And that fan inside the T300 is absolutely useless. But again , I really do take care of my stuff , I dust and keep everything very clean , and I plan to cover it back up when not in use . Just covering it back up without screwing it all in when the wheel is not use . So it just won't sit there collecting dust and dirt . Thanks for the reply , really appreciate it :)

I have the TX 458 and since day one upon the the "guide button" (yes, Xbox One guide button) was put in like crap. You'd be going 200 mph or in any high FFB situation and even with it taped down would trigger the button. Obviously on iRacing or any other PC game, this problem doesn't exist due to that button being null. I have to open the damn thing. It's been a lazy 2 years plus to not open the case. Plastic cheap button was Louise since day one and Thrustmaster customer service was cool as hell after a 10 minute wait. I said, "Is that a problem with this thing?" "Why in the 2 I own, did this occur day one?". He said, "I've heard it, just open it up and REMOVE it.". ;) I said, "Doesn't that void the warranty?". He said, "No". Interesting. They cut some corners with the materials used to build it, ie the plastics and fittings. All in all both wheels are still going strong. And I turn that FFB way up to emulate and SIMULATE closer to actual racing. None of this easier lap time and muscle fatigue all these so called "SIM" racers do. If they were ever in a real racing car on a real track it is equivalent to 10 times their settings, then add Gforces. I have mine at like 4 times what they use. Wheel stands up to it. All this to pop out a horribly fitted/constructed plastic guide button. 200mph at Le Mans and your menu comes up....straight into a wall. Car keep going and you have zero control.

Hi, can you use 60x60x25 fans in T300RS ? Because i've read conflicting information. Some people said that you can use it and even recommended some noctua fans (btw noctua fans are 5V and the one in the wheel is supposed to be 12V, isnt this a problem?) but some people said that 60x60x25 will not fit. Can somebody recommend a good fan, that would be possible to use in T300RS and as quiet as possible? my stock fan is very very loud and since i replaced the wheel for new one multiple times and still didn't get one that would be more silent (as some people report that their T300RS is very quiet even with the fan spinning at max) i guess my only choice is to replace the fan itself. One other problem is that you cannot use 3pin fan with the wheel and so i've heard that the silent fans are silent because they mosty run at lower RPM than is their maximum capability. But when you use 3pin fan in 2pin connector, you leave out the "speed control" and the fan spins at max and thus even the quit fans turn into loud monsters So i guess i would need advice from someone who has experience with some quiet fan not in computer but in T300 or other wheel. Thanks for answers

+Mpamphs Kangourosaurous Yes I think it would fit easily using the same mounting with longer screws. I don't think overheating is a problem with the motor fan combination used. It's just a little loud, maybe even more so after I put the holes in the case to ease airflow. I race with a headset on so I don't notice it while on track. The fan cuts off in less then 1 minute after I quit putting force on the wheel. Some type of rubber mount for the fan would be the best way to quiet it if that is a concern.

Don LaByer So Its ok to use 6x6 15 wideness fan , Noctua fans have all rubber mount , but all are 25 wide. I have so many problems with this Wheel and I have to fix it for my self. First of the juping of belt driven motor , screws wasn't tight, also I had to Open the t300RS PS wheel that came with the servo and reconnect the cables,so the serial shifters work again, another problem was the direction pad on the PS wheel doesn't press averytime I have open it and I have add silicone mini pads to make it work again. Now I use new wheel the Ferrari 599xx Alcantara its bigger and way better , So until now no problems.

Hi all needing to solve this problem. Just a note, if your buying a fan, try to get 2 pin connector type not 3 pin, if you're a electrical dunce like me you wont be able to rewire a 3 pin version. Also, I opened mine to replace and just ended up oiling the one in there already. For the time being it is back to normal. So maybe just try that before ordering a fan online.

Hey don i recently changed the included fan with a noctua A6 flx , the specs SHOULD Work but the fan doesnt spin , not even in Power mode ? U bought a 3 to 2 pin adapter so it should work ? Any ideas ?
@dlabyer
@dlabyer 5 жыл бұрын
Simon, try connecting a 9 volt battery to the two pins on your adapter connector pins to be sure your fan is working. 9 volts should run the fan. The power for the fan is on red and black with the yellow wire for rpm sensing.

@@dlabyer the fan spins as soon as i connect the 9v , could it be the adapter itself ? The wires are wired with the black and red so it should work right ?
@dlabyer

Runs on the 9 V battery so the fan is good. Can you plug in the fan and post a close up picture of the connector? Also, you can buy a volt meter for about $10 online or at Harbor Freight. You could check for power out of the power supply going to the fan. Also remember power to the fan only comes on when when the motor is hot. You could use a hair, blow dried to heat the motor up with power on to check.

What is the best fan to replace this with? I believe mine has developed the same issue...
@dlabyer
@dlabyer 8 жыл бұрын
+GTRfanatic97 Any 6 x 6 cm fan as in the video. I would go to search, computer fans, enter the size and pick one with ball bearings. If you buy the same width fan as in the video above it will mount with the same screws. The original fan was rated at .25 amps or 250 ma. so get one that uses no more then that less is OK. I used one labeled .180 amp or 180 ma. works fine. It is a two wire plug and most fans come with 3 wires. I used the plug from the old fan and connected to the new fan. Test it before you install it. If you get a 3 wire fan the yellow wire is unused. Connect the red and black to the original red and black wires on the plug. The plug is of the type that you just pull to disconnect from the circuit board, there's no clip to press to release the plug just small tabs that will release with pressure. I would use long nose pliers to pull the plug while pressing back on the circuit board . Just a little wiggle and it will come loose.

Always, first check that the power plug in the t300 is pushed in tight, (Not the wall plug but the one in the back of the t300. It is known to come loose). If indeed resetting all connections and power it will not turn on the red light it is most likely your power supply, located inside the t300. Let us know here what you find. It will help others.

Wow Angel, sounds like a bad unit. It seems to me that most mass produced products get very little testing time before being boxed up and shipped. This leads to us consumers testing the units :/ It's a norm for all electronics to have their highest fail rate at start up and over a period of hours, days and weeks that rate of failure drops to a very low rate. Sorry yours was a bad one but we'd have to pay near double if the factory cooked them in like the military stuff is cooked in before use. Contact the seller right away for your return. If it's out of warranty I'd start with checking the power supply, after you insure the A/C plug on the back of the wheel is not loose, it has been reported to be a problem. Let us know here what you did to resolve the problem.
