As far as I recall from watching the film a few weeks ago, Murphy is ex army, not ex special forces and as this was set in 1974, bearing in mind Murphy's age, he would have been an ex national serviceman who may then have gone into the regulars, like thousands of other men his age. They might even go into that in the film, when he's talking to his cop friend, but I don't remember. He's also not exactly a sophisticated assassin, just a bloke who blows people away with a shotgun for a local criminal for a few extra quid.

The one thing about liam neesons characters he plays is they always find the true character of the man, he thinks little of his own life when it comes to saving those he loves. It shows the audience in the end your left with the thing god gave us all, a choice, good or bad the choice is ours, some people say that thier choice was taken from them, that they were forced or forced upon, i say what choices did you make to lead you up to that moment.

I’ve seen the film and I think you did a decent job of covering it. However, you forgot some important details. At the beginning we see people planting a bomb in a pub. You forgot to point out that the reason that particular pub was being bombed was because it was a haven for vampires. And then a T-Rex attacks the pub and kills the vampires so the bomb wasn’t necessary. Those people have to hide, not because the police are looking for them but because the T-Rex was mad at them bombing the pub before he got there. And then a spaceship lands and the aliens shoot the T-Rex. And then they go to the village to hide but there are zombies who grab one of them and eat his brains but the zombie dies because the brains were bad. And then the woman turns into a monster of some sort and she shoots the aliens. And then the 101st Airborne shows up. And then somebody made dinner for the aliens but not the vampires who some of them lived. I’m not sure, I ate some mushrooms before the movie started…

Reading the subtitles makes me very aware that the person writing them is not a native English speaker. The text is is just so oddly-phrased, gauche in the extreme, and often quite funny. Can't you find a proper English-speaker who will use familiar idioms rather than ill-translated and sometimes annoyingly ill-informed comments?

Agree Zen. While this is a movie I visited Ireland several years ago on a tour having Family history. Beautiful country as I traveled over a majority of the country. But you visit places, learn the history and are amazed at such violence in such a beautiful country. I remember visiting a Pub in Dublin with a big sign upon entering Stating " ABSOLUTELY NO DISCUSSION OF POLITICS OR RELIGION." A wise sign for any bar...

@@TJIRISH44 Scotland suffered too, but moved on. My ancestors were on BOTH sides in 1745, but harsh as the supression was, hatred was avoided, Scotland prospered. Scotland, although traumatised by a number of wars, and the failure of the Darien Scheme ( which drained 25% of Scotland's wealth ), embraced change, Scottish soldiers, engineers, shipbuilders, doctors, etc., were in high demand all over the world, and much respected in many other professions. / That same creatiive nature did not exist in much of Ireland, because the tradition of blood feuds has never died out. Many of my ancestors died in battle between clans, and land was lost, but I bear no grudge! But in Ireland, there are people still motivated by the loss of land from centuries ago! / If the Catholic Irish had spent a fraction of the money they put into the Catholic Church, on developing better horticulture, maybe the Irish Famine would not have been so bad? After all, Ireland was not the only place to suffer famines at this time! /
