so basically we have a Evil Cleric that uses influence and subtle magicks to dominate, as well as obscure powers vs a violent militant sociopathic supremacist who dominated off the back of literally spamming spells and using fear to dissolve resistance. I think it should be noted each combatant's main weakness: Thulsa Doom's powers of manipulation CAN be resisted, and even though he has a distain for personal combat, he isn't lacking in that field, however, he is literally bringing a sword to a wand fight, and in this instance, like in the classic sword to gun fight argument, unless he can close the gap, Voldemort can simply snipe him from a distance with his wider array of powers. Voldemort's main weakness is twofold, as stated, the moment Harry revealed himself to be alive, his followers deserted him, likely because he was no longer the biggest player and because despite witnessing Harry being killed, he once again cheated death. The other main weakness, as stated, is the lack of proper organizational structure within the death eaters, as well as Voldemort's unhealthy habit of killing off followers when they were simply following his orders either in a emotional outburst or because of his desire to live forever, which makes him much more suceptible to being manipulated or tricked into overextending.

I feel going for a long term match up works well for certain characters much better than the typical vs match up "everyone is dropped in cold approach" as there are many fighters out there who build themselves around intelligence gathering, misdirection, and having ample back plans. I feel like that shows off such fighters skill sets much better so please do more of these in the future.

Good to see you are still making videos. An interesting matchup as well. Seeing as you are doing other non-Star Wars matches, might I suggest you do matches with Conan the Barbarian himself, Zorro (1975 Zorro and Mask of Zorro probably have good material), characters like the Shadow/Lamont Cranston, and others that I can't think of right now. I've watched a little bit of Death Battle and they generally make me roll my eyes. But the fact that they haven't used these characters is really odd. But seeing them in one of your videos would be pretty awesome.

Trevor Philips( GTA 5) vs Mike Ehermentraut: two balding, ex military older professional criminals. Just as Mike was a foil to Walt, Trevor is a foil to Mike ( both are ex military, highly intelligent , and have to die extremely insane things for their work, Trevor loves violence and chaos, is reckless and irrational and does so much drugs he would probably get one one high just by walking past them. He’s also younger, late 40s and physically stronger. Plus they have roughly equal hand to hand combat skills but Trevor relies more on aggression and strength to maul opponents were Mike uses quick and efficient strikes and holds to win.) in a lot of ways it’s Anakin vs Obi Wan Kenobi all over again since Trevor is shock and awe and Mike is boring but practical.

Thulsa Doom is easily the better grand scale manipulator but Voldemort is the superior direct fighter. Do you and Evannova has the same release schedule or is it pure coincidence? Not to mention less faster characters have reacted to light before. And Crimson Armor (let alone DxD) surpass BB Vali in terms of raw power and speed. So speed wise, Issei is > Shigi. Even before attaining Balance Breaker, Volume 2 Issei destroyed part of a mountain when given time to charge his power. By volume 9 he was capable of destroying a more durable replica of the entire city of Kyoto. In pseudo DxD form, Issei oblitiared half of a rating game arena which had towering mountains, a lake, and a forest of trees. So Issei is multi mountain level at least (likely higher) Meanwhile, Shigi is around mountain level since he is stated to be stronger than Kamino arc AFO. That being said, raw power isn't everything and Shigi has a shot of pulling a win here. Decay means he gets past Issei's durability advantage, his healing factor and high stamina vs Issei time limit (88 minutes) means Shigi can outlast by attrition and he power set is more varied. Btw, since Issei can manifest Ddraig, Shigi has to deal with both Issei and Ddraig. Ddraig has stats >= DxD Issei and has Blazing Flames of Scorching Inferno which I think can burn peoples souls. Again, hard to give a final call given the current Bnha manga (based on current events who knows what will happen), but as is, current Issei def has an advantage. Now Volume 10/season 4 Issei would lose to Shigi.

Both combatants share a theme, as well as a set of stark similarities and striking differences, both in regards to their modus operandi, as well as their moral codes. A possible match up idea for a none Star Wars match up: Dettlaff van der Eretein( Witcher 3) vs Vlad Dracula Tepes( Castlevania Netflix).( Dracula from the games is a borderline god but from the show he’s “only” the strongest vampire in the series. Both are tall dark and brooding, have immense physical power with magical abilities and are rather sympathetic despite their monstrous actions. And Dettlaff’s second transformation can help with his comparatively weaker magic compared to Dracula.

Even with my limited, cursory knowledge of those figures, I don't see Voldemort as doing very well. Voldemort has become accustomed to being a big fish in a small pond, and as we saw in the literary version of his duel with Dumbledore, he struggles against similarly powerful opponents.

While I don't know much about Thulsa Doom or Thoth Amon (outside of the two Arnie movies), Xaltotun is a very powerful sorcerer who's feats include summoning a wraith to incapacitate Conan and collapsing a cliff face onto his army. He declared himself to be the greatest of all wizards and the eternal foe of Kull. He appeared as a man with a skull for a head and eyesockets that burned with unholy flames. He could not be harmed by ordinary mortal weapons, and his stated magical powers included illusion, invisibility, and dimensional travel, though presumably there were many others.

The books are great, but the majority of occasions where Voldemort is concerned, his grandiose flare, obsession with solving problems by killing them, and obsession with himself gradually created his own destruction. 1) he could have stupefied, paralyzed, or confounded Lily Potter instead of killing her. The when Avada Kadavra struck, Harry became protected. 2) he could have just killed Harry immediately in the graveyard instead of "playing with his food." -moreover, Voldemort could have used anyone's blood instead of waiting only to have Harry's to gain a body back, and remain under the radar from DUmbledore for a long while; or merely stole a vial of Harry's blood rather than needing Harry present. 3) Voldemort never did his homework on wand-lore, instead just depending on Olivander or twisting pieces or knowledge in of grasping facts with depth. 4) he challenged Harry to give himself up at Hogwarts; which Harry did, repeating the same bad choice he made with Lily Potter since everyone Harry sacrificed himself for couldn't be harmed by him. 5) he chose special artefacts to be his Horcruxes instead of just a single grain of sand in the desert, or a tiny rock on a shore-line; a single piece of hay in a hay-stack, not a golden idol protected by booby-traps. 6) Voldemort surrounded himself with "boot-lickers" and sycophants instead of individuals who were intellectual and martial equals to himself or knowledgable of subject he was ignorant of; which made every failing of the Death Eaters directly associating with him. The list goes on. Voldemort depended on fear, to hide the accident-prone toddler that he really was. Until he made enough bad choices that others whom could learn used them and toppled him.

How would you rate Eddard Stark from a song of ice and fire? Personally I view book Ned as a tier 4( a expert fighter able to contend with some of the greats without being one. He survived engagements with multiple king’s guards who at the time were all living legends.) because while a good fighter his only claim to fame in the books aside from contending with kings guard is besting foot soldiers in battle. A commendable feat but nothing better fighters couldn’t accomplish. in the show I would say Ned is a tier 2( a highly skilled swordsman who casually bested Lannister and Targaryen soldiers and contended admirably against Arthur Dayne and Jaime Lannister, and killed ser Gerald Hightower.) granted on the show I doubt Ned could stand long against other tier twos like Sandor Clegane , Syrio Farrel and Oberyn Martell, but he can certainly best most tier 3’s like Loras Tyrell, Jon Snow, and Ashur Forrester.Brienne would probably be the best tier 3 on the show and book and would be a very hard match for Ned. I view Jorah Mormont as the quintessential tier 4 in both the show and book( he’s a master swordsman, a skilled knife a capable lance and mace fighter, and has some skill in unarmed combat. He has faced Dothraki, pirates, guards, iron born and grey men and came out on top or at least took many down before being subdued . Plus if you count the show he bested several gladiators.)

The major problem I have with this is how Voldemort would be overpowered by Thulsa and his followers during the initial insurrections.. but then he overpowers Thulsa (and Thulsa's followers) later? If Voldemort's power was consistent here, either Thulsa's initial victory would have failed or Voldemort's rebellion at the end would have.

Okay, lets set up a scenario. Voldemort unleashes a magical wave that sends everyone around him flying back. He begins to attack and kill. One of thulsa's followers impales him or shoots an arrow through his chest. Done. Voldemort is dead. It was already stated that thulsa had followers in the number of a thousand. Voldemort would likely only kill twenty or so and that wouldn't do anything. Thulsa has so many followers that voldemort would be overwhelmed before he could attempt to escape

A character I’d like you to breakdown some day is Ashoka Tano through her appearances.( yes I know you barely tolerate TCW on the best day.) But over the years she’s become an interesting character and you admitted in a past video you liked the character even if not the continuity problems she creates. But anyway, my view is that In the TCW film to season 5 I view her as tier 5. By season 7 I believe she proves herself a tier 4. By Rebels I view her as tier 2.( or at least tier 3 in the vein of Galen Marek; a tier 3 with the tactics of a tier 2.) post empire is hard to say since she’s only really fought Mando and bodyguard lady.( admittedly cool fights but hard to base if her skills have improved or atrophied.)

This is basically a war of attrition in the long run: in purely physical terms, Sidious has immense levels of destructive capabilities and Voldemort has a one-hit kill beam and neither of them know what the other is capable of so it could go either way. However, both would survive the encounter because they can resurrect themselves via Essence Transfer and Horrocruxes respectively so the real question here is: which one would deprive the other of means of self-resurrection faster and more efficiently? I am inclined to say that Sidious has more of a chance here because his resurrection process only involves jumping from one body to another while Voldemort has to find a servant to execute a ritual that can take months to prepare.

Voldemort is a good organiser, he's just slowly going ever more insane over the course of the series as toll of splitting his soul into seven pieces, dying and being reborn in a dead baby, and losing to a child several times because of prophecy get to him. Before his first death he was more subtle and methodical, and even afterwards it takes him a while to truly lose it. The story takes place over several books / movies after all. Thulsa Doom basically had it easier. He didn't have the same kind of overwhelming power Voldemort did but he also wasn't operating in a world full of powerful wizards and he wasn't trying to conquer something as big as the UK. Doom would be a minor nuisance in the world of Harry Potter while Voldemort would be a god in the world of Conan (the movie version at least), and I doubt Doom could kill him in the Kings Landing situation at all- comparing him to Cersei doesn't work because Cersei couldn't wipe out an army of muggles or weak magic users by herself. Thulsa was cannier precisely because he was weaker and more vulnerable on a personal level yet was working inside a low magic setting. I don't rate Thulsa better as a grand strategist or manipulator; his strategy only worked because of the time and place he was in and the resources he had access to. Voldemort isn't necessarily a better or worse villain or anything but he's working in a world where trying to magically mind control everyone wouldn't work as they know about it and have ways to deal with it, and you'd have a bunch of Wizard cops teleporting to your location if you were caught trying it. Also, the Death Eaters were more of an exclusive club and didn't amount to his total followers- at his height he controlled the loyalty of Dementors, giants and other monsters as well.

@@Pacbandit13 exactly. he relied far too heavily on brute force on the back of raw magical power, believing he could coast on that level of power. Yes. He had that power and natural talent, but that power was also the reason why he suffered as a strategist. Even when planning for battles, his first response was primarily brute force offense. It works, but when the enemy showed resistance, he only turned up and escalated the conflict, trying to smash through any opposition. He had more magical raw power than Grindelwald, but Grindelwald was a much more balanced combatant, having a balance between power and tactics

Dettlaff van der Eretein( Witcher 3) vs Vlad Dracula Tepes ( Castlevania Netflix). Game Dracula is too op to be a fair fight( seriously even when he dies he comes back a borderline god), but in the Netflix series he is still extremely powerful but a bit more manageable. Dettlaff is a highly skilled fighter in addition to his superior than average Vampire strength and Speed and he has a second form and can only be permanently killed by a high tier vampire. Dracula has physical abilities of equal or superior level and has a strategic mind and great magic at his side. It would be a fun match between two lovestruck elite vampire warlords.

Joel Miller vs Merle Dixion and Tommy Miller vs Daryl Dixion.( either separately or a team match.) Joel and Tommy are expert trackers, interrogators and combatants who spent as much time killing humans as infected . Tommy was a better sniper and Joel was slightly stronger and more ruthless, otherwise the two had equal skill in unarmed combat, tactical sensibilities, and weapons knowledge. Tommy may have had some training as he was part of the firefly militia, but otherwise the two were self taught survivors. Merle was an ex soldier, hardened criminal and had a expert level knowledge of unarmed combat and tracking. Daryl was a capable as Merle as a tracker, but Daryl was a much more skilled marksman with his crossbow and firearms and displayed greater leadership and tactical thinking. Merle was better in unarmed combat due to his military training, superior experience and his blade attachment.Though it’s arguable that Merle was better with a sniper rifle. Both groups are comprised of seasoned survivors that are expert combatants and trackers. Plus brother tag teams are fun.

Sandor Clegane vs Jaune Arc( odd match up but hear me out: the hound is undeniably more skilled with a sword and unarmed, but Jaune is strong enough to fight monsters triple Clegane’s size , a quick thinker and he uses a shield unlike Clegane’s preference for a great sword/ Bowie knife combo. And Jaune’s aura shield would let him survive at least 3 of Clegane’s hits without resistance before being cut in half like the battle of the black water, Clegane’s armor similarly can stand up to a couple of Jaune’s sword strikes.)
