The lights are like your fence performance gauge. The higher up the lights flash the better the fence conditions are.

Can I connect a battery to this one?

This is an AC powered unit on its own. The only way to do a 12v set up, you would need a DC to AC inverter and especially a pure sine wave kind as well. Something that will convert 12v DC to 110v AC. Also, no AC model is designed to be outside in the weather without being protected from the weather, none are waterproof at all and water damage isn't covered by any brands warranty.

Hi, I would have to look at my spec sheet on it, but I would guess around 6-7kv with a 500 ohm load and 8-9kv open circuit.

Does Cyclops use adaptive output?

Sort of, but only on their Master and Boss models. Also it's done a bit differently than Gallagher. They have their own quirky issues with them.

@@FencerFixerRepairLLCKansasCity I have a Cyclops I've had for about 5 years. Its a Super model I think. 16 stored 12 output. It was the biggest DC unit I could find. It's worked great only occasionally blowing a fuse. I have it hooked to a marine battery on a trickle charger. Our electricity goes out regularly and this way even if the power goes out it will still keep the fence energized. It's on about 3 miles of 4 wire high tensile.

@@rafterh2181 Yes that's a decent size 12v unit, there's only 2 other brands that make a larger joule unit. Gallagher and speedrite. Gallagher makes a 28 stored joule unit that's a dual powered ac dc unit and speedrite makes a 18 output joule unit that is also a dual powered unit. Both brands do cost more than a cyclops do, speedrite is overpriced for what it is inside, but the Gallagher units a really well made and I don't see them come in that often unless it's lightning related or age.

Can this unit be used on 25 acres, someone recommended me this unit. We want something strong, also dont want to burn it on a small piece of land. You said this unit adapts to the size of the fence, it should be fine right? Thank you

This is adaptable output to what it feels. You could probably get by with the Gallagher M800 as well on that size area. Anything with Gallagher's name on it is reliable.

Which 1 do you like the most?

There are 3 brands I like and in this order. 1. Gallagher and 2&3 are tied between Cyclops and Power Wizard. I think if you want long term reliability, Gallagher by far is the way to go. All of their current models are designed to last 10+ years, excluding lightning damage. I get their service notes and updates on their units twice a year and that's what they're stating, no other brand we work on gives out that sorta info. They carry a 3 year warranty. Cyclops are cheaper than Gallagher, but only carry a 1 year warranty and sometimes last 10+ years, but I've also seen them randomly fail within 2-3 years and not lightning related. Power Wizard units are decently built, cheaper than Gallagher, and carry a 3 year warranty as well. They last 4-8+ years on average. I really wouldn't waste my money on any other brands besides those 3, everything else is either cheaply built that doesn't hold up long term very well, or they're overpriced hype that isn't worth what they are internally, like Speedrite and Stafix.
