I practiced thumping on my guitar for a year and was okay. Then I started practicing on my bass and I got soooo much better. Using a bass is key for thumping because it builds big finger muscle

You can build a callous or put gorilla glue on top of your weenie thumb now your thumb is indestructible. I am a bassist who learned this technique and didnt want to stop practicing. Great video btw!

keep it up man. Im pretty much a beginner (~1 year), and learning double thumb is super hard, but even if you practice it like a few minutes a day, you will see WAY better results than just trying to do it all in a few sessions. Good luck to both you and me.
