I once got bored and made a superhero story where the hero up and leaves his family to keep them safe but ends up in a deep depression trying in vain to end himself. Hopping in a volcano, sitting at the bottom of the ocean trying to drown, drinking acid, the works. His daughter ends up having super powers so he's stuck teaching her all while trying to get his shit together and be a good dad and revealing his messed up backstory. My favorite bit was revisiting his first time on television after pulling people out of a burning building and doing the stereotypical super hero voice not realizing his mask burned off. By the time he notices his identity is being broadcast across the world he's just like "Oh... Shit!" and flies off. I should never drink and write. 😂🤣

I think a distinction can be made between "world enders" and "world dominators" . World enders will destroy all life with the end goal of eliminating themselves in the process. They operate on primal rage or destructive force. A world dominator is the more common motive we see in villains. They want power to change things or simply power for power's sake. I hope that at least gives you a better idea. Sometimes there is a method to the madness and other times its easy writing to move things along.

Jason Bateman is the best part of this movie. I love it when he crab walks off screen.

It would be a bad idea for everybody to have super powers. I remember one time a guy that had schizophrenia ran across the street and wailed on an old lady with his fists. I was at a relatives house when this happened. He was arrested, the elder lady survived and moved away because of the trauma. If he had super powers, I don't know what would have happened in that situation. If everybody had super powers, I feel like it would just be chaos. Kind of like those wild west movies where people are shooting everybody and there's no order.

If everybody had super powers, the little old lady would have had them too, and probably wouldn't have suffered at all. I don't think you've put a whole lot of real thought into this.
