I bought this album For a $1 back in 1972 . Then I heard it was out of print. A hall of fame classic. Great mesh of English rock and old time piano and pure talent.

We didn't have a record player in our house until my sister got a little mono one for Christmas 1970? We only had one record to play - this album, and consequently it was played to death. I know every note from constant listening when I was about 9 or 10.

You can get "Hollywood Dream" on CD. It's a great album. Very classic and great sound. Love this album

Great character, mister Newman. West London had fruit hanging low, in the '60s. A wondrous garden of music.

Thanks for that, Hollywood Dream is one of my all time favorite albums. I bought a copy of the vinyl album in 1971 and I still have it.

I love these little commentaries and interviews from yesteryear,...there's just never enough of them though. But from the same year, isn't there a touch of Flying Machine about TN? That same feeling of whimsy and nostalgia. Like so many admired groups, they shine so brightly for a year or two, then fade just as suddenly as when they arrived. But they leave an indelible mark.

I actually have this on a one sided promo only Lp, Track Lbl. Very rare. Rubber stamped cover says: "A Special Record With Peter Townsend And Thunderclap Newman"

Back in the day both Speedy and "John McVie " ( Fleetwood Mac ) were in our little 4 piece SHADOWS cover band playing in our local youth clubs around the Ealing area . I was the lead and only singer in the band and do you think i could get either John or SPEEDY to sing a note to back me up with harmonies NO chance both declined.looks like SILENCE was golden.

nice to hear that

great....what year was it?

I don't imagine you would need many harmonies doing Shadows covers.

Thunderclap Newman were a wonderful and sadly under rated band. There on album is a classic and great single that "Something in the Air" is, "Accidents" dwarfs it. Such a unique and unlikely combination of musicians. A case of what should have been. Where was this broadcast?

I was able to get their album Beyond Hollywood on itunes. It has Hollywood#2(live) - When I Think (live) - Accidents (live) - Wild Country (live) - The Old Cornmill (live) - Wilhelmina (live) - Look Around (live) - I See It All (studio) - I Don't Know (studio) - Something In The Air (studio). I album I got when it came out had a Dylan cover of Open The Door Homer. That song is missing on the album available via itunes. It's still a great album. They also offer 1 or 2 other selections.

What year was this? '69 or '73? The picture looks more like 1969.

As i might have mentioned earlier, i´m pretty sure P.T. did most of the Bass playing on that album. And i think he used the name "Bijo Drains". I Mighty be compleatley wrong - so prove me wrong! I´ve heard much of P.T.´s demos, so thats why i figuered out thats him playing the bass, and he won´t take credit for it.

sounds like "I'd like to buy the world a Coke and teach it how to sing" Not exactly hot chart bustin' stuff...
@bluesfan5828 жыл бұрын
+flagemdown66 I think you mean that "i'd like to teach the world to sing" sounds like this, since it came out at least two years earlier.
@flagemdown668 жыл бұрын
didn't it come out in 1968? I was only two then, so I might be wrong!
@bluesfan5828 жыл бұрын
flagemdown66 No. At least 1971 (If you're talking about the song from the coke advert)
