I cannot speak for these artists, but I doubt they were trying to “ duplicate or improve “ the song, but rather playing it in their own style which they did very well. In this way people who like Bluegrass can enjoy and find appreciation for the song.

I wish you well and whole, and hope that cancer finds the cells of your body to be so intolerable a host that it never comes back. I also urge you to look into two drugs you will never hear a chemo salesman say out loud. The first is an -azole antifungal by the name of fenbend-, and the second starts with iver- and rhymes with pectin. I knew young folks in the 90s from the old time / country / gospel crowds who were messing around with the intro parts of this during practice. It was fun, and it was funny, but nobody gave serious thought to actually playing the song. If they had it would have been met like Dylan going electric. So glad THIS is back, and it deserves a permanent place in the KZbin covers Hall of Fame. Kudos also to the sound engineers & camera / video folks who dreamed this up, in this setting, and made it happen! It’s like Foxes & Fossils playing in parking lots & then some.
