The three "reapers" are not reapers in the classical sense they are refered to as "timekeepers" by Rammstein. As there are three, they may represent past, presence and future. They are not just taking lifes but also giving life. The blindfolded people may represent humans blindness or ignorance towards time and the wish that it would not exist, but the perfect moment to stay for ever. As humans we go depressive or even insane if we would be aware of time all the time. Kids grow up innocent and uneffected by time (or only effected in a positive way), only when you are over 30 you start to realize the decay and how more and more people are dying, your body getting old and slowly dying. Everything you learned becomes obsolete. Without mercy the time moves on. So we have to blindfold ourselves towards time, most of the time, to still be happy and enjoy the moment. But we must also not forget. Memento Mori. Carpe Diem. If you accept death, you can remind yourself more often to use the Day wisely, and get things started/done, without being sad, anxious, depressive or even going insane.

This motif is not something exclusive to nordic religious culture. Slavs had the zorzy, three sisters that embodied dawn, day and dusk/night. The greeks had their Moirai, the romans renamed them (as they did with the gods) and called them Parcae and many older religions have at least elements of these within. It's safe to assume this concept was invented thousands of years ago by protoreligions that were created by ancient people. We have so many stories that were retold by many different cultures and seem to lead back to people ike the phoenicians. One thing is for sure: christianity hopped on as well... their God is three people but also just God. The rule of three works, apparently. Early Christians were all about expansion and very good at using what was already there. People were happy to accept it since it had a familiar ring to it - because the motif had been there in the tales their nan used to tell them. Isn't is fitting, how people fade away in time but their ideas can withstand for thousands of years? Full circle.

Once again but on this song in particular there is lot of very complicated german linguistics going one with numerous entendres, double-meanings usually reserved for high literature. German is amazing for this because of how contextual it can be and how many meanings a single word can have, "Du hasst" and "Ich wil" being outstanding examples of this. It also means their lyrics are extremely difficult to translate into english without losing oceans of artistic depth.

Over-achievers, absolutely. Budget? They're at a stage now where it can be whatever they want it to be. The figures are Timekeepers who ensure that the rules of time are maintained. We're born to die and even if we're not ready, when out time comes, we must go. We can influence a future but we cannot guarantee it. Every moment is gone as soon as it happens. It's a hauntingly beautiful, stunning song and video that leaves you stunned. It's absolutely exquisite. The attention to detail is amazing, the lighting, colouring, camera shots, positioning and of course the acting are all phenomenal. Rammstein have absolutely done it again and leave others standing. I love this band and have done for over 20 years. I'm proud to call myself a Rammfan. Great reaction from you guys. I was watching the expressions on your faces and you clearly felt the same awe that I did when I first watched this. I was stunned, in awe, tearful and so, so proud of them. My guys.

As a German man, I have no problem admitting that I cried on both songs, "Deutschland" und "Zeit". With "Deutschland" more because of the historical background together with the meaning and these incredible visual effects and ideas. Here, of course, this very personal depth, and in terms of visual effects you go one step further. Really unbelievable. A whole new level that Rammstein has reached with the two videos, in content and form.

That was a great reaction to a masterpiece of art. Imo Till has outdone himself on the lyrics. The music is spot on. Did you hear the almost constant sound of a clock in some shape or form? Brilliant. The video is pure art. (thanks for not getting too focused on the birth scene) Since this song/video dropped, I keep replaying it in my mind. And with the horrific events happening and yet to dawn to Europe, the song draws a quite precise picture of how we feel here. Sadness, fear and hope. With love from Germany 🤘 😎

The song tempo is also 123 bpm. That's roughly 2 beats per second, but the stress being rythmically placed always on the first beat closely resembles the ticking of a clock, as well as the average contraction/relaxation rates of a heart at resting state. They really pay attention to every minuscule detail and that's why I will always adore this band.

Take in mind that Rammstein NEVER has commercials before or during their music video´s. They have hundred million+ views, and very expensive music video's and still want to give every viewer a clean experience. If you are going to watch the next Rammstein song, it would be cool to fit the video The Rammstein - Europe Stadium Tour (Time Lapse) in there as well. It gives you an idea how big the live shows are.

Another thing that came to my mind about the babies being put back in to the mother to be born again on earth and also coming back in a sense they died on earth and are now being born in the other world and their birth or rebirth on earth is them already starting to die because as soon as your born your dying..your dying to live or as Rammstein put it "Wir sterben weiter bis wir leben" "We keep dying until we live" because in a sense what we perceive as dying is us actually being born again into the other world that's why the girl in the end seems happy when she dies because she knows that her death here means her being born over there..if that makes any Sense? This is art at its finest..a true Masterpiece!!l

Music, lyrics and video complement each other again as almost always to a complete work of art. The lyrics talk about not being able to stop time and the video shows the band members trying until the end, unfortunately in vain. We all sit when our time has come in one and the same boat, no matter whether friend or foe like or in a war. In the very last second of the video, by the way, we hear the first breath of a newborn human being.

My interpretation and thought was time goes on like a continuous cycle and those rare occasions when we are truly happy of course we want time to stop. The showing of the sand and hourglass ⌛ time keeps going and them showing the scenes reversing to me meant a desire to go back in time either to the moment of birth and start our lives over or to before we're even born saying no i don't even want to be born i want to go back before i was even conscious of my own existence and mortality. Them being blindfolded to me was no one knows whats going to happen in the future we don't know what kind of lives these babies are going to have.

@@amygoodson-catlady I saw a poll today. About 80% of Germans are quite certain, that shit is going to hit the fan here in Europe. The government published a list on the official website of groceries you should consider buying respectively have in storage to help you through the 1st ten days after an attack. That speaks volumes. War is THE number one topic in Europe. I work at the airport for a German airline and whenever I have a moment to talk to passengers, the conversation shifts very quickly to the Ukraine war and you can see the worries and disbelief in people's eyes. One of the most common sentences you hear is:"Never in my lifetime I would have imagined that could happen here again." I also see a lot of refugees at the gates waiting to fly to a safe place. Mothers with small children and babies and just one or two plastic bags. No checked luggage. Completely exhausted after days of literally walking to the border of Poland. It's heartbreaking. I try not to watch the news to much, because it doesn't help to stay strong and mentally fit. Sorry didn't mean to lower your spirit.

It's on the news here all day/night so I catch up, but I can't watch hours of coverage...I get to the point I just weep for the refugees! And the animals. I'm not religious so I won't say I'll pray for you...but I will keep you in my warmest thoughts. If it gets to the point that this is your only way to communicate...you msg me back and I'll do whatever I can to help you! The USA is worried too, bc P keeps hinting at nuking the world....us first. The whole world has gone insane and backwards!

Next to *many* parallel implications, the main line is that people hunt and chase the perfect moment in life, only to find - far too late - that it has already passed without them noticing. Hence his pleas, hoping that Time itself should stop so that we can all cherish this one perfect moment in our lives.

In the old Norse-Germanic mythology, three women of destiny are named. They are called Urd (fate), Verdandi (that which is becoming) and Skuld (guilt; that which should be). Their names are considered Norse equivalents of common early medieval concepts of the time in the form of personifications of the past (Urd), present (Verdandi) and future (Skuld). Even if these three names correspond to more recent ideas, they seem to go back to an old Germanic idea of a nameless trinity of women of destiny. According to Mela Escherich (* January 31, 1877 in Munich, † September 26, 1956 in Wiesbaden, was a German art historian and writer), the old mythology only knew one norn, namely Urd.[3] According to the Völuspá - (isl.), Old Norse. Vǫluspá - "Prophecy of the seer (völva = seer + spá = prophecy / the Völuspá is considered the most important poem of the Nordic Middle Ages. ) - the Norns live at the root of the world ash tree Yggdrasil at the Urd spring, the source of fate, named after the Urd is. They direct the fortunes of humans and gods.

i am dutch and suddenly i subconsciously translated the line kind of "sometimes your moment is there, even though i don't want it" i know it's a very rough translation, and probably totally wrong, but it hit me like a firetruck. Rammstein... I saw them in Oostend, barely three weeks ago. It's amazing how good they are

There are a few key topics in Rammstein's oeuvre, which can be classified e.g. as sexuality, politics and human rights, and - as here - spirituality and religion (Nebel, Stirb nicht vor mir, Zeig Dich, etc.) and other groups. Zeit (2022) is in line with Nebel (2001). You should definitely compare both songs. "Nebel" basically is about love, death, loosing a beloved person, eternity and the afterworld. Till uses several uncommon poetic words and symbols which leave space for different interpretations (as a good poem should do). If one inverses the title Nebel (fog) one gets Leben (life). Till uses this poetic technique of inversion throughout the whole poem. An example: Men live on land, not in the ocean. Therefore we talk about Land's End, terra finis etc. But in the poem the perspective is inverted: from the Sea to the Land (wo das Meer zu Ende ist - where the Sea ends). That's a fish's perspective. But it's not about fish here, so who else could have such a perspective? Someone who can have both perspectives because he is above both. This brings us to the question who is the unnamed all-knowing third person who tells the story? Obviously not a human but a higher entity, maybe God? Now it becomes clear: "wo das Meer das Land berührt" (literally "where the Sea touches the Land") means "where death touches life". Between both is the "fog" zone (Nebel). First she dies passing through this transit zone, at the end he is already near to death in the foggy twilight zone, when his memories starts to fade. Compare this to the second line of Zeit: "Wir sehen, doch sind wir blind" (hard to translate, maybe "we (can) see, but we are blind (or blindfolded?)". This is the same idea as in Nebel: We are capable to see, but the fog blinds us, (maybe) meaning "when it comes to the question of life and death, we can not understand it". The song "Stirb nicht vor mir" (Don't Die Before I Do) is about the yearning for the perfect moment with a perfect partner to love. Again, compare this to the desire of stopping time at the perfect moment in Zeit. Or just enjoy the music. Have fun!

Some things should Some things shan't(should not) We see, yet we are blind We cast shadows without light After us, there will be a 'before' Out of youth, necessity is born already We keep dying until we live (We) die living into(the)death We drift towards the end No rest, just striving forward Endlessness is waving at the shore Captured in the river of time Time Please stand still, stand still Time This shall go on forever and always Warm body will be cold soon One cannot conjure the future Allows for no stay Creating and destroying immediately I lie here in your arms Oh, could it just be like this forever But the time knows of no mercy Already, the moment is gone Time It is so beautiful, so beautiful Everyone knows The perfect Moment When our time has come Then it is time to go Stopping when things are at thier best The clocks stand still The moment is so perfect But the time keeps running(out) Moment, would you Please remain I'm not ready yet

Zeit means time. Referring to the lyrics, it could be Rammstein's last album. Rammstein consists of 6 members. If only one of them wants to leave, they all leave. And it is absolutely within the realm of possibility, considering the age and that this song is also the title of the album.
