Thanks so much for the consistent uploads! I got into Thunderstone because of your reviews and play your Epic variant with friends very frequently! Might pick this new expansion set up!

Thanks for the review, looking forward to mine coming in from CSI. Think they will ever make more expansions for TS: Numenera?

So how did you get lvl 4 heroes? Other than buying (huge pile of gold). I don't see any experience requirement on them. Probably mentioned in the rules..

They should make a level 5 version of the veteran ^^

I think you're reading the Icon of Inversion wrong, Tom. It means that any Battle effects BECOME Aftermath effects, they don't go off twice. So if a monster has a battle effect that reads "Destroy One Hero", it doesn't happen until AFTER the combat. A good card in my opinion.

But what does it give? You still attack with a hero, which then is destroyed. What is it changing? Or maybe it was a bad example? :)

It gives you the ability to include the hero's attack bonus in the combat. If it's a battle effect, the hero is detroyed before he adds his attack to the damage dealt to the monster.

soren123 from the rules on Yucata.de "Any cards destroyed by a Battle Effect remain in play until the end of the battle - Heroes fight until the bitter end!" and as far as i remember, my heroes always attack first and then die if there is a battle effect killing someone. But " If your Hero no longer has the Strength to equip his Weapon, any bonus or effect of that Weapon is lost." that's when this item can be useful.

wr00t From the Thunderstone Advance Towers of Ruin rulebook: "To sum up: When all of a monster’s effects and traits have been applied, calculate your Total Attack Value" So you calculate your attack value AFTER the battle effects have been applied. So if a hero is destroyed from a battle effect, you don't add his attack value to the combat.

soren123 Better later than never :) You were right. I haven't played Advance and it looks they have changed the Battle effects rules in this version (or rather divided them into Battle and Aftermath). The original Thunderstone rules even had an example of a fight in which dwarf still contributes to the attack and then dies after the battle (still winning the battle). The updated version had this example removed, but still had the line i've quoted. Well, it would be confusing for me to play Advance now with this rule, though i can see the logic to divide the effects. On the other hand i can also see how it is possible for heroes and monsters to attack simultaneously :)
