Hey Jack, thank you for this heartfelt and reflective video as you experience the last days of your epic adventure; I think a couple of days in the forest will have helped you to shake off the last of the sickness you had .I really appreciated the peeks into your travel log, so good to look back at the times that have led you to the moment you were in. You will have been relieved to know Rylie and Olivia were back safe with Ellie. I think it was a very special meditation you shared with us when you said about how what you thought what you'd wanted for your life has turned out not to be the case; and it is lovely to know that what you do want is waiting for you back at home, in the shape of your beautiful wife, daughter, faithful travel buddy Ellie and all. Every blessing for your family Jack :-)

i agree with you about the Black Hills. It's like you walk through a portal. Ive been to the Rockies 5 times, and other mountain ranges, and the pines in the Black Hills smell stronger, crisper, and they fill your lungs. The air is crisper and cleaner, and the hills just have a wholesomeness within them that you can feel all the way down to your bones. It's as if, when you walk into the land of the Black Hills, you "become one" with the hills. They embrace you, encompass you, and you sense their voices. You hear them, feel them, smell them, everything. Not so with the mountains. Mountains are too majestic and separate. They are far too grandiose to become one with them. Everything in the mountains feels sharply separate from human thought. When you enter the mountains, their imposing heights tell you that you do not belong with them, that no man belongs on their precipices. Mountains seem to rise against us... something we must climb and sweat and endure. Not so with the Black Hills. They are a welcoming mass of undulating stones, slow streams, and strong smelling pines. I cant say adequately how I feel about them.

Enjoyed your video of the Black Hills! Glad you enjoyed your visit to our precious Hills! Trying to place where you were camped. Lived here off and on for my seventy some years….the sound of the thunder and rain on the roof is so familiar and comforting. Sorry about the hail. Hail here is notorious. Our vehicle had a tough August this year with tennis ball sized stones. When the weatherman says hail in the Hills, believe it. But then the storm passes and the blue sky and sunshine returns.

I agree with the difficulty of nomadic travel. It used to not be so difficult, or at least in the ways of planning. These days it's very regulated so the things that are difficult are the options, which are fewer, but so much of the technology that's given us the ability to find said options are amazing. I recommend getting a job that is seasonal, maybe teaching, if you aren't already. Get the summers to travel and satisfy that nomad itch. Love your cabin and approach to life. Would give you a firm handshake and hug for sharing these videos for those who need to escape with an evening of vicarious living :) . God bless.

Definitely a summer to remember! South Dakota is a beautiful state! You make the best dinners! I am going to try what you made with the noodles and fried egg on top. Wonderful recap with your family at the end. Very enjoyable video. I look forward to the next one!

Wonderful video, as always. The last time I was in the Black Hills, SD, I was touring with the rock group Foreigner in 1993 & 1994, 30 years ago. I was hired as their Fitness Trainer, but also took on the duties of Assistant Tour Manager. Mount Rushmore was breathtaking. Love your videos. Blessings to your beautiful family and Ellie. BTW, your beard looks great!

@@TinyCabinLife loved that show you had. I learned some things you saw and did and we try to see when we visit parks still now
