2 years playing 52 yrs old. The fact that I have the skills to even attempt to try and learn this. Still amazes me . Never too old to learn. I'm happy with my progress. A day and a half watching this over and over progress is good . I'm 😊 happy

@@mastopage3120get some Gibson strings. The strings on my Sg wasn’t anything spectacular so I swapped them out for Gibson 9/42 and the difference was instantly noticeable and getting the same tones as Angus Young even before I have yet to drop a set of Wilkinson humbuckers in but hopefully they will be installed soon. What guitar and strings are you using.

Been playing all but around a few months and taught myself to play the entire AC/DC thunderstruck (51yrs of age) the only part I’m having an issue with is getting the palm muting with the rhythm Malcom Young plays. Likewise I found some of the most “seemingly” easy riffs to be quite difficult to tricky to get to grips with lol there’s one that has just three movements and it still every now and then trip me up falling over my own fingers across the fretboard 🤣🫣
@PFinkoloTL878 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much Justin, especially for Malcolm's part in the intro. For those who are figuring it out: 10:59 onwards is EXCEPTIONALLY helpful. Everything in this is helpful, but that especially.

Metronome. Find your baseline tempo where you can play it flawlessly and speed up by 2/3/5 beats. Slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Use more of the edge of the pick and don't use too much distortion. And Malcom's rhythm is tougher than the main riff.

OMG, THANK YOU! I think you're the FIRST person I've found on KZbin that included that inverted D power chord during the main chorus (those open A and D strings you noted). It seems like EVERYONE else tells people to repeat the A power chord and it just sounds wrong. Good job! Also, kudos to Malcom Young for that insane B-chord finger picking that drives this song forward. I can't even do that! It's way easier to do Angus's legato for the entire song.

So I may have missed it but one thing I didn't see mentioned was that the main single-note riff begins on an open string, which is relevant to the feel / playing it picked or legato. Based on live video I've seen, I think he plays that initial note with an upstroke, but I could be wrong. So it's possible that all of those fretted notes actually land on upstrokes.
