Got a tip I've found to add here. For a lot of still scenes with say a skirt, or anything you need to drape over things, I'll actually run the simulation as an animation. Move the figure from a starting pose (not the default pose, just a pose you think will get where you want to go) through to the final pose you want. You can get effects like a long skirt sliding all the way up the thigh from a leg kick or something. By just posing the leg one way, then to the final spot, and maybe starting the animation with the gen character partially rotated on the x or z axis, then finish in it's correct location. Dunno if I explained that well. Basically have two similar poses a start at frame 1 and finish at about 20. If needed, you can include total figure rotation etc. to take advantage of the gravity pull in the simulation animation. If you visualize what you want to happen, as if it was real cloth in the real world, it really helps figure out exactly what kind of pose to start with (since the final pose is the one you want to actually render). They often end up being some really weird starting positions, but it can really work.

I don't want to seem ungrateful as your answering a question and that is probably an important one, but it does not look to be the for the question I asked. As such I have no idea what your talking about. --What I am trying to figure out is the following: The tool options mentioned here do not match those available on my copy of DS 4.15 Q: is my copy at fault or have the dForce options changed since this tip was released?

I think dForce is easily the coolest thing I have ever used a computer for. And my first computer was a commodore 64 in about 1984. Excellent introduction for people just starting, would have helped me avoid a ton of experimentation. You skipped over the two simulation settings I was hoping to get info on though, buckling and damping. The only two I don't have better than a rough idea what they do. I liked how you bumped the contraction, expansion ratio down so much though, I'll have to try that. For some reason I'm uncertain of, I've never explored moving that more than about 5% either way.

When I use a dress on a character, during dForce simulation I sometimes Iget body parts poking through the clothing item, mainly on the leg area. How do I prevent that from happening?

Dforce options have changed since 2019 and seem to have been moved from 'edit' to 'create' and no longer have the option 'dynamic surface'. I'm guessing they have renamed it to something else but I have no idea what. There is now dforce 'Wind Node' and 'Modifier Weight Node' I can find no others. Or am I reading DS wrong?

Okay the options I am looking for seem to be hidden under the Active pain option button next to the blue simulation button. God I wish Daz would update their documentation.

Doubt they ever will. People still buy those “premium” tutorial on their marketplace. You know the ones that cost about £30 and take 5 hours to tell you one piece of information you didn’t already know. Hopefully more people will find this channel and put those guys out of business

@@GameDeveloperTraining Sadly true, some options, tools etc have changed multiple times in just a year or two. You try to follow the instructions and immediately nothing even remotely matches said instructions. You end up going on an interface safari in search of the Nile;)

Hi! I've just discovered your channel, and I'm loving all of the information I was able to pick up in just a few minutes, so thank you for that! I was wondering if you'd ever had trouble getting your simulation controls (in the surface settings) to even show up! I'm a fairly inexperienced clothing modeler, but a few months ago I could get my MD clothing into Daz, and once I applied the dynamic modifier, I got all of the controls and could save the item of clothing with all of that included. A few months (and Daz updates) later, I can't get them to show if it's something I created. Adding a dForce modifier will let the clothing simulate, but the cloth is so heavy that it stretches down to the floor, and I can't change friction, density, collision, dynamic strength, or any of it. I don't have a 'Simulation' category under the surface settings. Are you aware of any rookie mistakes that could cause this? Thanks.

hi Sophie. Try selecting the move tool before simulating and let me know if that makes any difference
@sophiegallinger80045 жыл бұрын
@@GameDeveloperTraining No, that didn't make any difference. I still don't have any cloth controls.
@GameDeveloperTraining5 жыл бұрын
I was more referring to the clothes stretching to the floor on that one. Having the weight map tool selected whilst simulating can sometimes cause that. Not sure I can offer any help on the menu items not appearing. Assuming you are applying a dForce dynamic surface to your clothing items, the simulation settings should be appearing in your surfaces tab. Just check you are applying a dynamic surface and not a static one. this can be checked in the simulation section of the parameters tab

Just came across this video, how would you go about this though when the item does have multiple meshes?

The only way around it would be to merge the meshes in a modelling app

You complained @3:58 about the camera. If you click on the view frame (four corners with the dot in the middle by the view cube,) whatever you have selected i.e. the top, the camera will now center on that.

Hi. How are you? How could I avoid the annoying light points in an image rendered in iray with Daz?

Hi. I am not entirely sure what you mean but I think you are referring to the fireflies. You can remove those by turning on the firefly filter. You will still need to ensure you let your render run for long enough though :)

Indeed it is. You can use a deformer for that effect
