This footage illustrates the love and memories ex-residents had for Thurber, a virtual Ghost Town which had been the largest city between Fort Worth and El Paso a mere decade earlier.

I'm sure Leo would have loved to have heard from you. Unfortunately, Dr. Bielinski died a few months back. He has left behind a wealth of knowledge. ~ Chris

I used to live in a two story house in Selden, Texas that was moved from Thurber by a team of horses. I love the history of that town! Also my great great great grandfather is buried in the cemetery behind the smoke stack.

The George Hale family was my great grandfather and great grandmother (Minnie Hale). The next scene around 4:38 shows my grandmother Gertrude Willett holding my mom's hand (Beverly)...as far as the others: it appears that Minnie and Harvey are together on the right; the lady in the middle could possibly be Harvey's wife, Lucille. The kids are theirs (Jesse had no children)... Jesse doesn't seem to be there, even though the sign said he was. (perhaps that part is lost?). At 10:05, my mom is hanging out the window.... maybe my grandmother Gertrude in the back seat? Gertrude worked in the drugstore...

What's so strange is that the exact moment I saw your mother there I thought I wonder where these people are now and if they've ever seen this. So cool to see your comment down here and to know that you and your family have seen this.
