Like it. Good stuff. I have an 03 CTD 2500, LSD rear and open front. Factory 4:11's and a six speed manual. I modified my suspension with a hybrid set up using components from Thuren and the other two big guys. I went with VR springs, Thurens rear HD Shackles, adjustable track bar, Bilstien 5100's, A home brew anti-sway disconnect, air bags (for camper weight and balance only), and a good front diff protector. Adding 37's was the icing. I discovered Thuren when I couldn't get through for questions after repeated attempts to one of the others I made an initial purchase from. I corresponded with Don about some things. Despite me not buying a ton from him, he lent some great advice and was glad to talk about ideas. I benefited from his input. They all make good stuff, but Dons attention to customer service and following his products and innovation won me over. As I need to replace and/or upgrade stuff, Thuren is what I seek. I have a list...... Bottom line is, these "big" trucks, with these improved aftermarket suspensions and related components, are amazingly capable beyond what we could do in the old days. Even without lockers for mine (for now), the articulation and keeping tires to the ground, in a rig that ' Ram ' still thinks a CTD is too heavy for off roading........It keeps taking me deep into places many balk at for big trucks. And many times with an 800 pound camper on it too. But I will admit, they are heavy, and when you sink one, it can be work getting out. But it's not often. Curious with the AVR rig, does that newer design Ram need a frame support for the steering box? ( for HD off road use ). I did add one to mine early on.

Great vid. I have the Thuren 3" coil / short arm kit w/ Fox 2.0 w reservoirs on my '13 PW. A slightly different animal than the '14+, but Don makes some fabulous high quality components for these vehicles. The Fox 2.0 res are doing fine for my purposes here on the east coast. Better road handling and ready to take a brisk jaunt at speed if I so choose. Mostly crawling and slower trail running here. These PW really deserve an upgrade over the stock Bilstiens. I agree his team is very responsive as well, which is really important in my book.

It's interesting that Ram claims the RTI score stock is 510 and the new 2020 is 530. I suspect those numbers are a bit like crank horsepower numbers. Great video from the AVR team! BTW, I noticed the video of the installer, the Zerk fittings are pointing down on your rear sway bar end links. Flip those around, mine were pointing down and I tore the bottom ones off in Moab. They won't last pointing down.

I have a 2015 2500 6.7L I never plan on doing rock wheeling in it I have a Jeep for that but what I hate is the rough ride it has. I have 35s with a spacer in the front level it off I'm looking to just make the front end not hit so hard on rough highways. The way it is now I can feel every crack in the road we moved up from a 1/2 ton F-150 rode so much nicer. I really don't want to go higher or give up weight load capability. I'm told if you disconnect the sway bar it rides lot better I could just put progressive springs in the front I don't like when trucks ride low in the back after lifting it.

So awesome Allen thanks for the sweet video! One note on your(accurate to the Power Wagon) travel percentages... Being that the Power Wagon is based off the regular Ram 2500 platform, some of our technical info is modeled around the base 2500 Ram. So with that, being that the Power Wagon is the Off-road version of the regular 2500 Ram, it already has some increased suspension travel over the regular 2500 from the factory, so our quoted travel gains with the Power Wagon are not as much. You are going to love your King shocks I'm designing the tune right now! ..... Don

How is towing, with a heavy camper or load?
@AdventureVehicleReviews5 жыл бұрын
shockracer, check out the video we did on the Air Lift air bags in the rear. But if I wasn’t running the bags the truck sags a bit more than the stock springs. Air bags would definitely be worthwhile if you wanted to run Thuren springs in the rear and tow from time to time.

Are there any suspension upgrades that improve towing and payload capacity?
@AdventureVehicleReviews5 жыл бұрын
Really, just helper bags (air bags). But they don’t change the trucks payload or tow rating. They help “support “ the load.
@danareynolds78435 жыл бұрын
So I wouldn’t be able to just change the shocks and springs?
@AdventureVehicleReviews5 жыл бұрын

@@danareynolds7843 Another company, Carli, has a kit for the PW that has stiffer springs out back to increase the payload to 2000. The fellow in this video says his springs are softer, so he actually reduces the payload?

What does the change in suspension do to the payload and tow ratings?
@AdventureVehicleReviews5 жыл бұрын
Julian Pereira, it does change the way the truck will handle heavier loads. But the axle and tire weight ratings don’t change. This is why we decided support the softer coil springs with air bag suspension.
@007Knightjp5 жыл бұрын
Adventure Vehicle Reviews So as far as I understand, the truck still retains the same payload numbers as stock even with the suspension upgrades... Am I correct? If Yes, that a really great upgrade.
@AdventureVehicleReviews5 жыл бұрын
Julian Pereira, the spring rate has changed - therefore the the payload has changed as well. Unfortunately we don’t have the numbers for payload with Thuren rear coils.
@freedomrider2665 жыл бұрын
@@007Knightjp If it's like Carli's (and it probably is, since both are top-notch builders), you'll lose around 15% payload. Towing, not sure.
@David-rx2to4 жыл бұрын
@@freedomrider266 actually, if you go to Carli's website, they must install stiffer springs with their kit because they claim to raise the PW payload to 2000 lbs.
@SuperTkevin4 жыл бұрын
Hey man, how much payload you can gain with the correct airbags in the rear suspension?
@AdventureVehicleReviews4 жыл бұрын
I really can’t put a number to it. Because this airbag system is designed to be as a supplement to the stock system. Airlift specifically tries to stay away from giving numbers. Hence the reason they call it a supplement suspension system.
