To the etymology question for yesterday, if I'm remembering my etymology correctly, it's also interesting to note that "best" didn't originally go with "good." It used to have its own base word, but over the years, the comparative "better" and superlative "best" got "adopted" by "good." I'm remembering this from linguistic classes many years ago, so there might be more nuance here.
