Hey thurso surf! I am torn between the 126 and 132... I'm 5'8'' and 160ish lbs... will there be much of a difference between the two?

@@niamhryan6447 At your height and weight, you can't go wrong! It's a question of paddle-style and how you'd like to use the board. The Waterwalker 126 should be a great fit for you and would be our normal recommendation. It has plenty of stability and carrying capacity for someone your size and it'll be easy for you to maneuver. You could also take along a pet, child, or even a friend without trouble. If you wanted a bit more speed, planned to paddle choppier waters on windy days often, or if you wanted to practice yoga on the board frequently without going all the way to a dedicated yoga board you could go up to the Waterwalker 132 without feeling overwhelmed. How does the surf waterwalker 132 compare to the irocker sport 11? From what I can see in your tests, the Thurso has more layers and carbon rails with 2mm less flex.

Hey Edward, You are right the main difference is the board stiffness and weight. They feel about the same on the water. If you are a paddler looking for a stiff board but also doesn't mind the extra material and weight overall then the Thurso is the one. But if you're a mid paddler (85kg and down), who wants a lighter board then the iRocker could be the one.. Make sense ? Thanks Reuben

How would you rate this vs the iRocker Cruiser 10'6"?

Very close in quality and finish. The 10'6 is a wider board that will offer you more stability. The Thurso board will be faster to paddle. We are impressed with both brands TBH. Thanks Reuben

Great video as always but there are too many brands of SUP’s in the market and that stops the largest ones from gaining market share and as a consequence, reduce R and D money...it also confuses the consumer and if someone buys a bad SUP they may never buy again and leave the sport....race for the bottom for most brands. I choose Starboard and will continue to support them as they are working hard on reducing their environmental impact and have best in class construction.

Good comment Philippe. We agree with you and understand the problem for buyers out there. We like to think that our reviews help in highlight the best boards out there. The interesting thing is, brands like Thurso, Aqua Marina, iRocker , STX and so on, are really gaining momentum and selling a-lot of boards. And in the future they many have more of a market share then brands like Starboard! But we agree RandD and the environment are a really big issue and something Starboard should be proud of. @@SUPboardermag You guys are the best in the business. It is interesting that so many brands and the category have room to grow. The more people out on the water the better it is for all of us long term. I worry about impact of these plastics and drop stitch construction once they reach end of life. We can't ruin the very environment we claim to love and use for our sport. Starboard today happens to be bet in class but I would choose another if they have a better way to reduce impact. My concern is that in order to grow and actually have a profitable brand, these new companies will not spearhead new construction techniques or materials science.
