Great review. I'll have to watch that movie again because back then it seemed so far fetched, yet relative to today :(

I gained a much better comprehension of THX 1138 over time, even though it became a favourite the first few times I saw it when I was a kid.

Sounds like a real future for us all!

It’s curious how the dystopian future genre can quite often raise our awareness for our potential future even more than the optimistic visions like Star Trek.

Just found your channel and love it, so THX1138 is the reg of the "piss yellow" Deuce in his second movie American Graffiti, it changed my life forever and I still live as a UK hotrodder, with a 3 windowed deuce. The movie also gave us Harrison Ford, Richard Dreyfus and Ron Howard for the first time, I believe it was the first movie to spend more money on music than production costs. The rest is history, George Lucas is a legend.

Yeah American Graffiti is a red hot classic.

I believe, which Ste doesn't mention, that THX 1138 is the Reg of Lucas first real car.

@@hotrodhouse yes. Thx1138 was not liked by the movie company. So the name was used as a number plate in the next movie.

Another hidden gem of a movie that I love. Perhaps you could do a review of Somewhere in Time with Christopher Reeve and Jane Seymour. Great movie with a cult following.

Cheers. I’ll give it a look.

I remember watching this during the resent pandemic but failed to see all the references to a dystopian future and all the fuss about lock downs and controlling people. Can we swap the drugs for the more modern vax for everything culture humans have lately?(this is something you are not allowed to talk about in videos). I can see the connection to 1984 but there is also elements or shades of Brave New World. This movie does leave a cold feeling towards it, but, for me, I get the same cool feeling when watching 2001 or Blade Runner.

@@amazingmikemed I’d say THX is years ahead of where we are now. That is a world of routine mind-numbing drug taking and living in an enclosed (15min) city. They know no different.
