If ever someone needed the spirt of discernment it was this woman. LORD have mercy! It is okay to blatantly tell people no, but if they persist be firm and stand you ground. Christians, we don't have to let every single person into our lives just because we are Christians and to be nice, no we must pray to God and ask Him who to let into our lives and those we are to keep out.
@suzanneelmore55284 ай бұрын
Really well said .There is no shame in being discerning. There are those who act good and kind b/c they need the attention. It feels good to be kind & want nothing in return & I have never read anywhere that God does not allow good & bad to happen to everyone. We are living in very strange times, If you pray for Wisdom about a certain person around your home or family and you feel a deep sense of urgency to protect yourself & your family , I pray for others always and when in doubt ; for wisdom the one time I doubted the answer I was badly injured b/c some people are not safe. I think you worded that perfectly!

My thoughts exactly!! No discernment at all, and no wisdom!! I’m happy to see that they were stood down or stood themselves down as pastor/leader at the church. Maybe need more Experience under more experienced pastors before taking on the head roll. I did admire their hearts for God though!! I use to be like this wife (a long time ago as a baby Christian) and it nearly got me killed!! Being too nice. We are told Matthew 10:16 Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves. God bless you!! ❤

The neighbor showed all signs from the beginning. The wife wanted to help him become saved that she ignored the signs of something being deeply wrong with him. They never even ask for his name. His childhood trauma and him not getting therapy and help for it eventually led to his demise. The pastor only look at him as another soul to win, but at least he saw the red flags and tried to avoid anything bad from happening. This was a good movie.

@maricamaas2326. I totally agree. Women aren't always the victim and men are still judged unfairly. We will never know how many men suffer from DV while cops laugh at them when they try to report it. True story. Men and women working together can achieve results and it all starts with children. Teaching them how to handle the bad stuff without violence is the key to ending DV or reducing the numbers. If their mum and dad fight it becomes learned behaviour and they go on to perpetuate it. It's all they know. I've put this to womens groups and they are so embittered they treat me like the enemy, not as a fellow DV survivor wanting to seek ways to create change. I would appreciate your thoughts on this if you have a spare moment.

She should have listened to the husband . She had no business over there. The muslims believe that a man should never cross the threshold unless the husband is present. Excellent advice!
@SilviaFabiani-videomaker2 ай бұрын
@@StacieJoyner I am not a Muslim, but when I was a young girl I was taught that I should never let a man into my room when I was alone, nor go into his room. It is true that by following this rule you avoid a lot of problems. Now the movie is based upon a very peculiar culture : in certain Protestant churches, a pastor's wife is supposed to support her husband's work by visiting people, including aging, physically challenged and sick people. There are no specific instructions concerning mentally disturbed people, but I asked myself this question many times. In my activity as a deacon I made it a rule, I don't visit lonely men and I don't let them into my apartment.

** Spoilers ** Did anyone notice that this is a movie about a Pastor, but we NEVER hear a single word from him at the pulpit? This was intentional. I wanted to create a story where the Pastor's message was communicated by his deeds, rather than his words because people can say anything, but their deeds truly reveal their heart and intentions. Neighbor sums it up at 01:05:12. "You can learn an awful lot about someone by watching them when they don't know it." Also, this film is filled with subtextual imagery if you look closely. A few examples... 1. In the opening sequence, while the family is driving to their new home, we see Pastor Zack in his rear view mirror. He feels on top of the world, like he's living the perfect life, but this is foreshadowing that his neighbor isn't the only one with a "mirror" (secrets). 2. When Zack and Amber discuss getting him into the church, a ceramic mask can be seen in the background of their bedroom. At the end, when he's packing up, he drops a box & this mask is broken. This symbolizes how he had been living his life behind a mask of perfection, and when his life was shattered, so was his mask, forcing him to see himself for what he truly was, and begin the journey of genuinely becoming the person that he had always pretended to be. God is a God of second chances, and this traumatic event has initiated Zack's second chance at dropping the act, and living a genuine and honest life. 3. When Zach makes his first appearance at church, and waves to the congregation, the front of his shirt is neatly pressed and presentable. But the back of his shirt is full of wrinkles. This is because he has worked hard to impress people & sell himself as the perfect Pastor, but behind his back, what he doesn't allow people to see is that he's really a mess. 4. The Neighbor's last childhood memory of being happy was when he was playing with toy cars. If you look closely throughout the movie, there are toy cars in the background of many of his scenes. He even steals the toy car from the two boys in church. There are many others which I won't list because it's more fun to discover them yourself. Thanks again for all of the wonderful comments. This movie was a labor of love, and took several years to get made. Your conversations here a lot of fun to read. Also, one more thing... Dave Payton, who plays the Neighbor, showed up on set in character, and never broke once throughout the production. Halfway through the shoot, my wife and I began to worry that he might really be crazy. Actress Jessica Koloian (Amber) was legitimately terrified of him throughout the production. In the scene where she approaches the door with the knife shaking behind her back, I kept telling her to tone down the shaking, but she couldn't because she was so genuinely scared. Then, at the world premiere in Orlando, Dave shook Jessica's hand, and introduced himself by saying, "Hi, I'm Dave. We haven't met." - George Writer/Director/Producer, THY NEIGHBOR

Wow--a Christian thriller! Loved it! What I got is that you need to pray to the Holy Spirit before you go evangelizing to people. Just like you ask someone before you can pray for them, you need to do the same in evangelizing--otherwise you risk opening yourself up to demons. Also, when doing door-to-door ministry, if you know it's a single man and he's not elderly, it's a good idea to bring your spouse, or at least another adult, NOT you and your young child. Thanks for uploading!😊😊😊
