Awwww, I’m so sorry about your thyroid flare. I kind of thought that might be the issue after watching your life update video. I hate that you’re going through this, but so relieved you got the blood work done and can now focus on getting better. You are so lovely - a true beauty and I love watching you perform. I’m not a dancer, but appreciate the art so much. I found your channel during Covid and have been following you ever since. All the best to you, and prayers for healing. ❤

Feel you so hard on the thyroid blood work. I have hashimotos as well and my TSH skyrocketed to 6.4. I brought up concerns to my doc when my TSH was at 3 (my hair was falling out, tired etc) didn’t do anything. Didn’t update the meds. They waited until I was sicker to up my dose of levo. They told me the dose I was taking was for a child and I’m a grown woman! So frustrating!

Oh! I'm so happy that you found out you're a soft summer! I always thought you were 😍 - fellow soft-sister here (soft autumn). You look beautiful in your colours. I think I commented many years ago that I thought you looked beautiful in cooler colours (didn't want to be too pushy with the whole colour-analysis thing!) And also to note, the sister-season to soft summer is dark winter! So if you still want to wear some of winters's colours sometimes you can always reach for dark winter as your "next best" (the lighter, gentler from the palette!) Thank you for inspiring me to start taking ballet-classes in 2019 💫 Lots of love from Sweden! 😇💖

Love it that you're back vlogging! I'm normally not into watching vlogs, but I'm always excited to see your vlogs. And I've been following since almost the beginning, I think. I've been fond of your energy on camera right from the start. Love your piano skills! That thyroid flare up is such an annoying thing, just when you think it's going well... the immune system goes, "Yep, but nope, you're on your own again cause I'm not working." And often enough it's when you need to be well the most. Soft Summer indeed looks awesome on you. It seems I'm on the see-saw between Soft Summer and Soft Autumn, but a Soft for sure. With both the cool tones and the warm tones I have colours I look good in and some not so good. Often if an certain colour from Soft Summer doesn't work, the Soft Autumn alternative looks better, and vice versa. Looking forward to the next vlog. From the Netherlands with love, Esther

I love that you are vlogging again! I teach dance at a smaller studio and I'd love to hear some of your takes on teaching. Even if it's not specific (like I'm not asking for trade secrets or anything) but I just don't get to see a lot of content on dance teaching. Maybe even a little channel series?!?! A few specific questions though. What do you think about using a specific syllabus vs on your own. I grew up at a Cecchetti studio with syllabi and exams, and where I am teaching now, we do not use a syllabus. Costuming! Oiy! Where I grew up dancing we were blessed with am amazing seamstress who made the majority of our costumes. Current studio, we order from a few major retailers. I just find that dressing such a wide array of body shapes and physical maturity levels is sooo challenging. Mainly due to costumes skewing towards smaller bodies. I have no idea why costumes intended for 14 year olds are considered "adult" sizes. It's like we need three categories instead of two. Child, Junior, Adult. As we do have adult classes and finding costumes can be so challenging. Anyway, these are some of my topics of interest. And I'd LOVE to hear yours ❤

Katie, Make sure the vitamins you are taking are in harmony with the foods that will absorb them. For example, vitamin D loves a rib eye steak with a baked potato 🥔 bathed in pure butter with sour cream. Vitamin D works with the fat in a meal. Your piano 🎹 tour de force is Tchaikovsky approved. The thyroid issue is life annoying, but can't defeat the Greek Goddess powers of KATHRYN MORGAN. Cheers.

I hear you about your thyroid results Katie. I am there just now too; realising why l feel so exhausted, with sore muscles, arid skin and general flatness of mood. Bloods came back a while ago: my TSH is completely out of kilter, too high, yet T3 and T4 struggling and thyroid peroxidase too high as well. I have late Lyme disease as well to complete my list of favourite symptoms. So a lot of pain. Yet often l feel like lm just lazy. If ld just try harder. Then my high inflammatory markers; ESR and CRP and thyroid results come in and always jolt me with surprise. Im not lazy after all, just battling two ennervating illnesses. Apologies for long rant but l literally know of no other specific person who also has the auto immune form of Hyothyroidism. Regarding colours I'm a clear Winter and finding that out transformed my own colour choices and stopped me looking like Dracula's Granny.😎. Take great care of yourself, you deserve it. 😊

@Nameless351Ай бұрын
Also, see if one of your doctors will order you a blood test to check your FERRITIN level. A level under 75 can increase hair loss! A good, caring dermatologist will tell you this if you’re able to get enough time with them to have a conversation about it. But a lot of primary care doctors and even specialists of many kinds will only go by the “reference range” on the lab report which sadly only flags ferritin as too low if it’s in the single digits or low teens! There are different purposes for ferritin (your iron stores in your body), and different symptoms occur at different levels. The lab range is only designed to mark the most extreme cases (with symptoms well beyond hair loss, to include things like dizziness, weakness, paleness, feeling cold all the time, etc). But you can absolutely have real and treatable symptoms at ferritin levels of 40, 50, 60, 70. The solution is iron supplements in pill form for a long time and retesting ferritin levels until they reach the target of 75 or higher. Or to achieve this faster (or if oral iron has side effects you don’t want to put up with) IV infusions of iron can be given. These get you feeling better much sooner. Some doctors are stingy/dismissive and don’t offer iron infusions unless ferritin is below the bottom of reference range; other doctors are willing to give iron infusions as long as you have symptoms and have a ferritin level under 100. Insurance usually approved them for a ferritin level below 100, if you have symptoms that are causing you problems, and you “can’t tolerate” iron pills or you tried them she the didn’t work. It’s not that hard, if you have a good doctor, and can make a big difference in a number of ways.

One question I have is if you've thought about how you want to end your career as the main dancer of a production, do you want to go out on a specific role and know ahead of time that that's your last show/go out with a bang or do you want to retire more quietly and just whenever your last role happens it happens?

Hi Katie! Since you’re near the South Bay, I highly recommend looking into booking a bio-resonance session with ‘Pure Life Acupuncture’ to help with your thyroid. Bio-resonance machines are being called ‘the medicine of the future’. It is a machine that uses frequencies to balance the body. I truly feel it can help balance your thryroid situation. I have been using bio-resonance for about 6 months now and it has been absolutely life changing.
@lyndapower9408Ай бұрын
❤ - Dont know if this will help but you might want to look into Compounded Bioidentical Hormones T3/T4, if you havn't already. Also, I've heard that just a tiny bit of gluten can cause problems in people with thyroid issues, and that the "effects" can take months to subside. (A bummer , I know - but on the bright side - a solvable issue). Good Luck ! (NYC Ballet fan here).

Possible video idea or for the Q&A? --- I would love a deep dive on the differences between Principal and Soloist roles, especially in ballets where it's less obvious. For example, I think you mentioned once that Marzipan is a soloist role and Dewdrop is a principal role -- from the audience they both seem like they would be the same rank with equally difficult steps and artistry (and maybe they are, and I am not remembering correctly, if so I'm so sorry!). Or perhaps in story ballets, like in Swan Lake excluding Odette & Siegfried, how are the other featured roles cast/ranked and why? Or a ballet like Dances at a Gathering -- is that a mix of soloist and principal roles or are they all considered principal? In general are roles ranked just like the dancers are, therefore once a dancer becomes a Principal are there Soloist roles that they will no longer be cast in? Hopefully that makes sense, sorry for the long question! Love your videos so much, thank you!!

Hate to say it but this happens to most women's hair anyway. Women lose hair with age; I've lost 1/3 of my ponytail and my thyroid is normal. I get a perm every six months. It plumps the hair strands so your hair looks thicker. I still have waist length hair and get compliments on it permed. (You need a good hairstylist to do the perm.)
