I loved this throw! I haven't worn a judogi since 1989. I loved the feel of a gi! Thankyou

A lot of hane goshis in competition are wrongly called uchi mata nowadays. Judokas like Maruyama and Ono use hane goshi more often than uchi mata.

I agree.

I thought the same, but they're actually using a version of Uchi Mata called "One step Uchi Mata". The main difference with Hane Goshi is that when you do Hane Goshi, the "Hane Ashi" (the leg that hits the opponent) hits Uke's whole leg, while One Step Uchi Mata goes all the way through the center of the body. kzbin.info/www/bejne/f2jWiqewr7NoeKc

It depends if the main driver was lifting with the hips or the leg swing. Just because there is overlap in action with hane goshi doesn't mean it wasn't uchimata.
Im a green belt and i need to know this to get the blue belt and its very easy to understand, it helps alot to see from all angles like you did in this vid, thanks

Love Hane Goshi. I used to like Harai Goshi and Uchi Mata but since I started practicing Hane Goshi I fell in love with the technique!

A mistake I used to make was not bouncing the opponent off the ground (so his legs are free to spin)

I'm new to judo, so..what's the difference between harai goshi and hane goshi?
@cucciafr683 жыл бұрын
Harai goshi (sweeping hip) tore's leg goes to the outside, so all the way across. In hane goshi (springing hip) tore's leg is bent slightly making a frame to support over the front of uke's leg and hip. As tore leans over their leg is extended to help with the throw.

It sounds more like uchi-mata.
@cucciafr683 жыл бұрын
There is a competition style uchi mata that is very popular, especially among the Japanese, that attack the far leg. Tore's leg can be like a frame as well which basically makes it exactly like hane goshi but the contact is on the inside (inner thigh) as opposed to the front of uke's leg/hip. These variations are so close that in comp, depending how uke reacts, it can be classified as either throw.
