@@ich4226I agree - not exactly “set” pieces for me and I love Harry Potter. I have purchased the spider set and the car but find it hard to buy any ONE of these because then it just feels incomplete. I wish Lego would put more time and effort into something else :(

With the exception of the Owlery, it seems Lego is releasing the new Hogwarts sets in story-order rather than starting with just the sets seen in the preview profile. This is is proving to be confusing for a lot of people but the fact that the profile has been shown to us from the beginning gives me faith that Lego has a plan for the complete layout once all the sets are released. I'm betting the Central Tower will be Chamber of Secrets themed, with Dumbledore's office at the top and Slytherin Common Room at the bottom.

7:15 This makes sense, as when McGonagall meets the to-be-sorted Firsties, she obviously is going to be dressed to impress her authority upon them. In the quidditch lesson scene, she's just in her office working, so obviously her attire doesn't need to be fancy. 10:25 It's make sense for the quidditch lesson tower to be unconnected to the Great Hall, since the GH is connected to the Main Tower, which is one corner of the Quad. This set should be another corner.

It's starting to look as though there will be pieces left over when we are able to combine all the sets. The fact that you have to slide OUT pre-existing rooms in order to fit the new rooms IN suggests that we are going to have a bunch of rooms with nowhere to go.

Yup. With these bigger sets you’re essentially paying for a big facade with lackluster placeholder rooms which will be rendered useless once you replace them with the more substantial classrooms. One of the reasons this new system is so misguided.

I have 3 criticisms of this castle system: 1) the sets seem to be dictated by price slots for the wave and nothing else, which is why we get sets in no particular order and will not see the full picture until the last one; and why some sets seemingly arbitrary are more detailed than others 2) the idea of selling accessories for bigger sets looks cool on paper, but together with my previous point leads to a lot of spare bricks we can't realistically display along with others as space is limited 3) there is lack of cohesion between sets of the system, they are made by different designers sometimes seemingly in a vacuum from one another. Leading to the reality where some sets are more interesting than others; one set has cloth cape while another a plastic one; one set has a two-piece broom building technique while another uses Fabuland broom and so on.

The black parrot in this set is not the same mold as the one featured thirty years ago, at some point the mold was altered to give the bird a larger beak, making it a distinct element from the one featured in that old Castle set. I don’t know when the change was made but the 2009 Pirates theme was still using the old mold at least.

I feel like the dueling club, looks cool, but isn’t going to be necessary in the long run. You don’t really need it for the great hall to look good. Something I did (that’s expensive) is I bought 2 great halls for the rocky base, so that I could put snapes class & the charms class in the second one & I used the parts for a new building & sold the minifigs.

There are too many Harry Potter sets for me to start collecting, but that modular system looks so fun and creative, I'll have to find a way to use that for my own creations!

I will not be getting the Flying lesson yet (atm way too expensive, even though I have seen it already going for like 68,95 instead of 79,99). Also with the rumored Main Tower coming up this summer, I will be waiting for that one first. Feels like a more essential set to me, and will prob. show how it will all connect.

Stickers inside the Charms class have also 4 Marauders name (Prongs, Padfoot, Moony, Wormtail) between the spells formulas. The castle is, in general, meant to be displayed with the exterior part visible... the inside, with all those walls and doors (Potions, Charms) isn't so interesting to see in my opinion. Flying lesson tower, if I remember well, should stay in the right part of the castle (looking from the lake), not even near the Main Tower, but in the Viaduct Entrance and Bell Towers section.

I think they took out the portrait checklist to account for the possibility of adding more in the future. Of all the castle sets we've seen so far, they've mostly focused on one movie, so I suspect they'll be filling it out for the next few years, and they'll add more portraits with each film covered.

Didn't know the rooms were alternative builds. I'd assumed that it's all connect together, like how the boathouse connected to the great hall. Bit of a disappointment, but maybe they'll have open areas for them to go in other sets. As for the owlery, it's been shown as a separate building, so I don't think it'll have a direct linking point to the rest of the modular series, just like Hagrid's hut.

Seamus was already featured in the potion's classroom last year. He came with a soot covered face as well, so he can be used for both sets.

Quality control has been a low priority for Lego for some time now, across all themes. Its all about maximising volume and profits, baby! We are a long way from... when only the best is good enough...

@TiagoCatarino a question for you. Harry Potter theme has shown, until now, a 3 year planning (2018-19-20; 2021-22-23; 2024-ongoing). Do you think it could be the same and this castle could be completed in 2026? If it would be the case, I think we'll have two other main sets (Main Tower already leaked for 2025 summer and I suppose the Viaduct Entrance in 2026 summer), some minor sets like Flying Lesson (Herbology already leaked for 2025 and something else for 2026 summer) and others switchable sets, like I imagine a DADA Lupin's class or similar. For long time collector, it would be probably more interesting look for other not Hogwarts sets, like Malfoy Manor. There's some scenes that LEGO could put on shelves, like Tent's Scene and Doe Patronus, Hog's Head or Leaky Cauldron, Lovegood House... The castle will probably have a lot of unavoidable (considering new collectors) repeat scenes and minifigures. Thanks in advance.

As close to 100% we have ever gotten in playscale, but the nano-scale set still will be the most complete. The expectation is this will be similar to the micro-scale.

2018 Harry Potter sets were such good value and well priced. It's sad that it's largely become an overpriced theme. Thankfully not as bad as some star wars and marvel sets.

I may no longer support LEGO-for a variety of reasons, some being personal-and while I may have some gripes with J.K. Rowling, I absolutely adore the variety of Hogwarts castle sets! They’re perfect for collecting, and seeing so many new iterations of how they try to recreate the castle-whether that be as a display model, or modular play sets-is a real treat! This has got to be my favorite wave, since there are some greater levels of detail and scale, akin to the display sets, yet not so much as to reduce the required proportions for proper play. Seeing the classrooms that fold up and slide inside the larger modules is a very clever way to include more rooms and scenes to the castle play sets, and something I’d like to see incorporated into other themes. Even the display models have a limited amount of space to offer rooms, often focusing on more memorable or important scenes from the books/films. I can hardly wait to see what the complete collection looks like.
