Emily took to flight On see-through wings of white Over the seven seas careened In beauty yet unseen A withered rose in bloom A blooming rose of doom Scattered all around For the heavens to abound And like the sweetest cream With loveliness extreme Emily went to play On that sacred day One love in red who loves darkness One love in white who loves darkness One love in black who loves darkness One love supreme who loves darkness One little butterfly who loves darkness One tear to cry who loves darkness One billion angles loves darkness 'Cause even God loves darkness Emily went to play When gold turned into clay The morning drain the night Of all beauty left in sight And soaked in reality Of not much more to see She disappeared into the haze In her own peculiar ways And like the sweetest cream With loveliness extreme Emily went to play On that sacred day

what a fine video. Tiamat can play any style of music and still seem dark. I really love how they reinvented with every release and love this video

These guys are way to varied and versatile to pin down into one genre, and that is what is so great about them. You can listen to any of their late 90's albums onward and find influences from blues and old-school country western, to the different arrangements and tempos you might find in more typically Asian music, to a light mix of neo-classical... and have you listened to the original version of Born to Die?

Any chance this song is in some way giving a nod to "See Emily Play" by Pink Floyd??? Any ideas, Id love to hear some thoughts on that members of the Tiamat Troop??

Hmm.. Sure it isn't the same, what we've heard at "Clouds" (legendary one) and "Wildhoney" (another legendary CD). But I still hear the same composing talent of Edlund, which touched me in those "old masterpiece albums". So, old-school doomsters here, let's just honor beautiful past things, which are probably never return again, and just listen to this a bit different kind of music, which modern Tiamat plays. It's not bad, it's just different from things we expecting from "classical" Tiamat....

It is not about the music not being heavy. It is about a band changing direction from being a metal band into a goth band. There is a reason why we started to listen to their first album and why the same people don't like their latest album. It is for the same reason you wouldn't buy a country album.
@ManmeetSinghPoetbabu7 жыл бұрын
I am a metalhead and i love Tiamat for what they are and every direction they take. They re evolving as people and also as a band and that is very important. I can't imagine the monotony of listening to the same kinda music ever. I need variety and Tiamat gives me that. And so yes if the country album is worth t, i will buy it.

You seem to have a mistake in your description of the new album. "Scarred People" is not a predecessor to "Amanethes" - it's the other way around. "Predecessor" (or "antecedent") means "the one which was before". The word you were looking for is "successor". Sincerely, die-hard Tiamat fan P.S. This song reminds me of "Judas Christ" and "Skeleton Skeletron" more than of "Amanethes". It's not a bad thing, just unexpected. I can't wait to hear the rest of the album.

The trembling images makes it hard to watch the video. The song has a pattern from previous albums, but has some new sounds (like the subtle chorus). Overall, there is a lot of unexpected atmosphere in the song, which is I always loved at tiamat. Listening Tiamat since 1995.

Ahem. First of all, I'm a metalhead, and yet I enjoy this song. Actually, I enjoy a wide selection of music, Tiamat just happens to be my favourite band ex aequo with Rammstein :P Secondly, I thoroughly despise Metallica's "achievements" of the last ten years. I wouldn't touch any of those records with a ten foot pole, unless that pole was a burning torch.
