I cannot believe I am saying this, but, I think Disneyland's shorter run time has made this attraction so much better. The finale scene feels like you move through it slower while other scenes do not feel as spaced out since the animatronics are closer together and overall you are moving through the attraction faster. Also a major plus which not many are talking about is the entrance to the dark section. In Disney World, natural light just floods into the show building. Disneyland removed a huge amount of the light leakage by having a tunnel that divides the show building and the first drop. The cave opening is also slightly offset and small so when you turn you can not see back outside.

Definitely is a better ride at Disneyland. Not an amazing ride (like Splash Mountain), but it actually looks like people took time and effort designing the story, scenes, and feel of the attraction. The Magic Kingdom version is underwhelming in every since (excluding animatronics), and it struggles with lack of pacing. While I don't think I could ever love this ride because Splash Mountain was my favorite dark ride, I can admire the work that went into this attraction. Disneyland's Tiana's Bayou Adventure still struggles with too many screens (probably due to budget constraints) and still has too few animatronics for my liking. I don't want to get into the "Is Splash Mountain Racist?" debate, but objectively Splash Mountain was a better ride as its a masterclass in storytelling, theming, and a dramatic climax. I wish Tianna had gotten her own ride so that conversation could be avoided all together. But anyway, my final thoughts are: Splash Mountain in S+ tier, Disneyland's TBA in B tier, and Magic Kingdom TBA in D tier. Edit: Fixed a typo

There are many wonderful things about Tiana's Bayou Adventure, but where it falls short is that to "tell the story" of the attraction it too-often relies on language -- written signage throughout the ride, as well as dialogue by animatronics. It fails to utilize the long-admired Disney style of visual storytelling, pioneered in animated films nearly a century ago and later mastered in theme parks. Here are two examples: In the first big lift where we first see Tiana, she is verbally telling us we need to find members for the band. This is no visual story-telling because if you do not understand English you have no idea what the premise of the attraction is. There is nothing visual about this scene that says "this story is about needing music and a band." If Marc Davis or Tony Baxter, as examples, were designing this attraction, were would no doubt be visual storytelling to supplement and enhance. If the frosted glass doors behind Tiana had silhouettes projected on them of haphazard band members with trombones and tubas blaring discordant notes, and Tiana had her hands clasped to ears to block the "awful music" during the stall periods between delivering her dialogue, then she could pull her hands away and ask for our help. The "problem" of the story and our role in "fixing" it would be concisely conveyed in a visual, animated, thematic way. Here's another example, as you approach the barn lift, there is sign announcing the party ("A Celebration of Family and Friends of New Orleans..."). This requires reading, and there is nothing else about this sign or environment that suggests "party," so if you can't read you have no idea what is being conveyed. This is not only bad because of the broad age-range of Tiana fans and the fundamental requirements of entertaining non-English visitors, but reading a sign doesn't work as quickly or viscerally as other thematic cues. There should be some other decorative elements around the front of the barn lift such as string lights, festive lanterns, or Mardi Gras style decorations to convey "party" without reading the text itself. These are two examples of how the story-telling of this attraction doesn't quite live up to Disney's track record in this field and how nominal-cost enhancements could greatly improve the attraction and experience for all guests. Whether riders understand English, are hearing impaired, too young to read quickly, or have difficulty hearing and understanding the spoken dialogue -- and for everyone else who has come to love Disney's long-standing excellence in theme park storytelling -- I hope Disney layers these types of enhancements into Tiana's Bayou Adventure.

The story here is Frozen Ever After with a Princess and the Frog skin. You are invited to a celebration, scenes of characters being gathered for said celebration, finale is celebration. Mama Odie might as well say “Let it go!” when you do the drop! Real big missed opportunity for the Tiana Foods element to be used to teach the importance of food production and co-ops in underserved communities which is more of a re-imagining of “Living with the Land” which would serve the story

Nothing beats the original Splash mountain but this version isn't bad, seems to have a lot more energy and thoughtful design. The Disney World version still sucks. I will always be true to Splash Mountain though, first ride that left an impression on me as a kid and still loved it as an adult.

Just like the MK version, this is a charmless, vapid endeavor full of songs you won't remember the minute you step out of the log. Shame on management for letting this replace a stone-cold classic.

Tiana's Bayou Adventure at Disneyland feels underwhelming and is missing many animatronics. To the WDW News Today and Disneyland fans. I watched this video and I feel very underwhelmed and disappointed by the empty spaces on the ride and the animatronics from the first Princess and the Frog film that's missing. Where's the dancing Spoonbill birds? Where's the red and yellow lady butterflies? Where's the 3 possums and 2 alligators and deer? Where's the 3 Frog Hunters Reggie, Darnell, Two Fingers? Also where's Juju the animatronic Snake that's not with Mama Odie at the end? Also where's Lawrence? Where's Tiana's Boss Buford? Where's Buta the Dog and Marcel the cat? And where's the most important villain Dr. Facilier and his shadow spirits, dolls, mask minions? They could've featured Dr. Facilier and his minions for the Halloween season. I'm very sad 3 of the songs from The Princess and the Frog "When We're Human", "Ma Belle Evangeline", "Friends on the Other Side" doesn't even play on the ride. I'm very disappointed Tiana's Bayou Adventure went the Jungle Cruise empty space route. Also there's no conflict, no real story and feels incredibly boring. I wish Tiana's Bayou Adventure was more like the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. I'll go on it once and then forget about it and wait until they update it with more of my favorite characters from Princess and the Frog characters. Or in the future in the late 2020s, or 2030s wait for a second retheme of Moana's Shiny Island Splash ride or Pocahontas Around the Riverbend ride to replace the current Tiana's Bayou Adventure ride. But, Disneyland and Disney World Imagineers just do their own thing and never listen to guests feedback. I'm sad they decided not to do the actual Princess and the Frog ride. Tiana's Bayou Adventure could've been fun but the ride sequel feels forgettable and I won't be surprised if it gets replaced by Moana or Pocahontas ride. In the meantime, I'd rather just go on a Log Flume Rattlesnake Rapids ride at Lagoon in Utah instead. I think the former 2001 Superstar Limousine and my least favorite Spinning Teacups ride was way better than Tiana's Bayou Adventure

Having just been to WDW's yesterday to celebrate Disneyland's opening, just so no one has any fomo, Juju is also not working in our epilogue scene

I know people love this one more but idk, I like both. I love the fast speed of DL and how it gets to the point, maybe a bit too fast at times. While I like the chill going down the byoue type vibe at Disney world. Maybe a bit to slow at times as well but I’m glad there different so you always have a different experience. The audio on this version is definitely better but the animalelectronics at world are better imo.
@Jakepugh15Ай бұрын
The audio animatronics are the same. Built in the same shop at the same time.
@eraser2592Ай бұрын
This is the best version of it by far. Due to the semi claustrophobic spaces, it allows you to see more of the animatronics than just seeing dead space wasted like wdw. This looks perfect

What a sad loss. My memories with my dad and uncle going on splash mountain late one night when I was a kid for the first time now no longer have a physical residence I could visit. It’s one thing to destroy, but this is desecration, which is way worse. Shameful.

Yeah, I don’t understand why this ride has gotten criticism. This ride looks great! And I hope to get to go on it one day.
@kentslocumАй бұрын
@@ImperiusLex You might understand the criticism if you spend a little time thinking about it. Not only did Disney destroy their most beloved and iconic attraction in two separate parks, but they also didn't do Tiana justice at all.
@ImperiusLexАй бұрын
@@kentslocum In my opinion, I think they did a great job with Disneyland version. I’m not sure about Disney Worlds version, but I think Disneyland kinda needed this change. And in the end, it turned out great. This is just my opinion though.
@kentslocumАй бұрын
@@ImperiusLex Pretty much everyone agrees that the Disneyland version is better than the WDW version. The problem I and many others have is that Disney could have just put all this money into refurbishing and remodeling Splash Mountain. They could have improved the queue, added new show scenes and details, rerecorded dialogue, given the buildings a fresh coat of paint, etc. Instead, they destroyed one of Walt Disney's crowning achievements and buried the legacy of one of the most important Black actors in history.
@A_A610Ай бұрын
@@ImperiusLex The consensus seems to be that the story is the biggest "make or break" of the retheme. Pretty much everybody agrees it's much weaker compared to the original ride, with defenders being much more willing to look the other way and ignore the weaker story while critics tend to point out the story problems are its fatal flaw.
