This is an absolutely beautiful stitch! Your samples look quite thick and warm, but I imagine that using an oversized hook would produced a much lacy-er effect

Yes the samples are quite thick. I love the Solomon's knot stitch for a really lacy effect but will try this by jumping up a couple of hook sizes😊

Also, I remember as a child (long ago) seeing sidetable mats that looked a lot like this, but they were reversible two colour. Like one side is pink and the other side white. So it cannot be this same stitch. Any ideas on which stitch that could have been?
