Hi. I am an European I've been meditating for a few years but not regularly. I've never inquired about Tibetan monks or Buddhism before now. Yesterday I felt at peace and warm in my heart during meditation and shortly after I heard a man talking to me he was very wise. It was a life changing experience for me and the man's name was rimpoce. Does this happen to anybody else ?

the power of belief is key and powerful .. it is possible you have a guardian in your ancestry or possibly elsewhere that aligns with you ...felt your call and genuine energy... your need for help and guidance . I have experience a feeling of weightlessness floating but no butterflies in my chest an absolute feeling of freedom from all earthly thoughts just peace and happiness feeling that i was around friends and animal companions without any thought of the physical sight of them. in deep meditation iv often felt as if i was on an ''island'' detached from the world alone with only animal spirits around me ... i feel the only reason i have attained the level of understanding i do is because of isolation due to my ptsd but if you silence the static on tv, hollywood etc and believe that you are the best connection to the universe and the one creator that there has ever been and ever will be ... the truth is within you not for anyone else to perceive for you

I like the view, that Tibetan life is so hard it gives you an understanding of how precious life is and forces you to look inward, hence the importance of aspirations of joy-happiness and compassion for all.

At 8:00 the narration makes an inaccurate pit down of Hindu Yogis. This is common among some Buddhists who no nothing. Tibetan Buddhists went to huge trouble to learn from Hindus. About 1,000 years ago "Marpa the Translator" ... a great teacher, WALKED to India SEVEN times and back to learn and translate Hindu teachings and specific techniques.

Thank you for sharing this series of videos, it is a precious & rare insight into Buddhist philosophy & practice. Tantra, Yoga & Buddhism have many similarities in practices & understanding/approach to unveiling the workings of the mind. Also many traditions followed are similar too, for obvious reasons. In this video the narrator says something about Hindu Yogis performing contortions in public, with my utmost respect, I would like to point out that a small group of Hindu Yogis do this to show their fellow beings the glory of the deity/master/teacher/guru, in the hopes that some people might be inspired to also follow the path of renunciation etc. It is not a display to satisfy their egos but in glory of the higher power which has blessed them. Every tradition is beautiful & the vast majority of so-called 'Hindu' Yogis (Because one can be from any walk of life to be/become a Yogi) till today keep the secrets of their spiritual practices gupta/hidden. So to generalise 'Hindu Yogis' made me a bit uncomfortable, I hope I have clarified why. Thanks again, namaste.

It seems like precious spiritual knowledge and practices have had to be stored in a safe place over the centuries until the time came for them to be reintroduced to the whole world. It is easy to see how the Tibetans may have become over-protective and how it was necessary to release their priceless possessions by force. That is not to condone for one moment Chinese atrocities - but I doubt the Tibetans would have voluntarily shared their wisdom had not the holocaust 'opened them up' as it were.

@ruzickaw if tibetan monks and followers followed the teachings of atisha and his school wasnt forced to be ingtergrated with the tantric schools we might of seen a differnt type of tibetan buddhism for the kadam school was a sutra school not tantra and the dali lamas tradition broke from the kadam tradition to seek tantras its really sad how it all came to an end. i personaly think (lo jong)(mind training)is one of the best meditations ever peace and love

All the terms like Samsara, Dharma, and all the terms including "Yogi" came from the Hindu Culture, my Friend, which was later adopted by Buddhism. Buddhism is just a Branch of Hinduism. In other words, Buddhism is Hinduism, this is however a whole other topic. Even the word "Nirvana" is a Sanskrit word. Many of the interpretations are wrong in this video like the Indian Yogis that you talked about are off point. They didnt perform it only for street performance. The whole point of doing yoga is to stimulate the mind. Meditations and the yoga originated from India in itself including the textures of Vedas which talks about so many things like achieving Nirvana, Ayurveda, Yajurveda, the true value of musical tones, and all the other factors. Doing Yoga to bring about psychological enlightenment was long back introduced in India, even before hundreds of years the King of Tibet came into picture himself or even the country in itself. Thankyou for sharing this video :)

We never consider Buddhism as Hinduism. There will be 1000 of Buddha will come to this planet to help all living beings to attain Nirvana ; Shakya Muni Buddha or present Buddha is fourth Bhuddha. He had prohepsed his religion will spread in the land surrounded by mountains that is Tibet. When there will be iron birds flying (helicopter ) Buddhism will come to red face people ( western country ) That is the time when Tibet loses its freedom. Next Buddha is Galway Jampa ; he will be 100 ft tall. And his statue is already constructed for your information

The Buddha just borrowed words from Brahmanism during his teaching. Even Nirvana has a different meaning in Buddhism. The core of Buddhism is anicca, anattā, and dukkha, while Hinduism holds attā.

Hmm... where to begin... well OK Karma isn't originally a buddhist idea it's a term borrowed from the theistic schools of Hinduism and basically a matter of choice, cause and effect... What Choices you make alone or in a group (as in following a party line) will effect your karma (as does everything). The actions of a those making decisions effect the karma of them and possibly their country. For example Hitlers germany, WW II japan... in a strict scholarly sense that's cause and effect, Karma
