Tourette's syndrome is a neurological condition and disability which causes involuntary movements called tics. I use my platforms on social media such as TikTok, KZbin and Instagram to advocate and raise awareness for the condition and show what it is like living with a disability as a teen in school.
My name is Zara Beth (zeezee25 on tiktok) and I post videos about tics, tic disorders and what its like to be a teen living with Tourette's syndrome, Functional Neurological Disorder (FND) and a seizure disorder (NEAD/NES).
I show what its like having tics and Tourettes in class and in school and college, vlog, and I also bake, do other challenges and answer all your questions in Q and A videos.
I am also an ambulatory wheelchair user so I show what life looks like using various mobility aids and how needs change from day to day!
I am also a musician! My newest release is my first single (original song) called "She's Mine" which is now available on all streaming services - I sing and play piano, guitar, ukulele and I write, produce, mix and master all my own songs and content myself!

I have a friend who experienced tics and still does, it’s just not something you point out, genuinely I don’t notice it unless she mentions she ticked. Like it’s not a big thing. Unless she’s hitting her chest without wanting to, I won’t mention it bc like if she was I’d help her, as it has happened before.

This is genuinely funny. It must be insanely exhausting, draining and annoying not be able to be as productive as you’d prefer to be. I love how the teacher also seems to be respectful of you and doesn’t say anything when you have the louder or more expressive tics. Teachers would shove my brother who has high functioning autism in the halway at grade school just for standing at his desk because his legs hurt or he would figit a lot. Thank you for spreading awareness. 💕 Also. I was wondering, I saw the video you had with a seizure (or the hidden seizure, forgot what they are called but my brother also had them at one point) would a service dog help you with your condition or help you get better? And calm you down?

I’m new to your channel it’s just been 1 video I watched but, I find it interesting to see you share how you spend your day in class with Tourette syndrome and how you cope with it and also… I don’t know why but at first I was so surprised to hear that one of your tic is “cursing” and “middle finger” ‘cause I’ve never seen that type of tic… in a way it made me laugh every time you did that…. 😅 It’s kinda hard to explain…. I knew someone in year 7 who apparently had tic and had tourettes (not saying she was faking) but i used to be her friend before and after she was I’m guessing diagnosed and she was kind of never showed any “symptoms” of having tics or tourettes and then the next day she just had them and it wasn’t like progressively it was out of the blue but then she slowly didn’t show up to school and never spoke to me again and I thought it was kinda weird so i don’t know why I’m telling you but i am .

depending on the cause of the tics they can have a very rapid onset, mine started pretty much overnight. x

You are lucky but also unlucky because if you do something weird like on purpose because yeah I guess you can just say it was a super weird tic. The thing you did at the beginning just gave me that idea lol. But also having Tourette syndrome can be hard knowing you have no control over it. May I ask why you were diagnosed with both FND and Tourette’s? Like what made them come to the conclusion that your tics are tourettic and not part of FND itself?

people can have both fnd tics and tourettic tics. fnd tics and tourettic tics present differently, usually you don’t have an urge for fnd tics and can’t suppress them but for tourettic tics you usually can

I can kinda answer the third one since everyone I know has similar answers to me Usually when I get sleepy my tics calm down, get less frequent and less intense, so it's much easier to sleep The only time it's really hard to sleep is when high emotions ampify tics despite me being tired

As a substitute teacher who mainly subs for one particular special ed (k-3rd)…. How can I help one student who may have Tourette’s ? He has clear ticks and we have learned to only pay attention to his positive behaviour. But yeah , I’m genuinely concerned for the student and want to help them in redirecting tics because they really do distract the other students , unfortunately . What can a teacher do that actually helps and doesn’t induce anxiety ?
