I'm a botanist and Nature Lover, and I think you're spot on on everything you said. I love David Aurora's book! I had a similar experience to yours with what I thought were truffles, but it was out the other end😂 Good thing I cooked them or who knows what might have resulted! I love coral and cauliflower mushrooms. Another good guideline is to always leave some plants/fruiting bodies to keep the stand going in the future. I take only a little here and there. You are awesome, thanks Amanda!💚🌄🌠

Excellent excellent vlog. Great instruction, great advise and great reference material referral. I myself am looking for a good sustainable area for Turkey tail and all you mentioned. I love mushrooms cooked or raw. We have so many edible plants here in BC that are so healthy. With the ever rising cost of food, foraging is becoming a viable supplementation option. I look forward to more of your ‘classes’. Cheers from Vancouver eh!

Morel mushrooms in the spring, great. In Illinois in the fall morel look-a-like, please do not eat or even cook. The fumes can make you very uncomfortable. Eating just a bite and one half bite made me very sick. My husband found them, cooked them, got an upset stomach, insisted I should enjoy them even if he felt horrid. I tried and was vomiting most of the night.

You're not too far from Washington state and we have tons and tons and tons of wild ginger. I find it near the "iron horse trail" where it grows along the old train structures so its very easy to pick without uprooting other plants. It also grows on the east side of the state pretty close to the border.
