I'm relatively new here, but I like this man. Appears to serve no masters besides the truth and I can't do anything but respect and appreciate that. Nice work, dude... I look forward to seeing your stuff in the future.

Got mine yesterday. Couple first impressions. 1. There is quite a bit of white noise or fuzz with the RX im receiving. If there is any noise at all in the transmission it seems to be quite amplified. Not the end of the world but a little annoying. 2. The screen is far from scratch resistant. Seems to pick up scratches very easily. That said.............what an amazing little radio. Packed full of cool stuff.

An antenna upgrade will help that some. I switched the stock one for a Nagoya 701 and it cleaned it up a bit.

Thank you for the update! I ordered my TD-H3 from Amazon two days ago and it is supposed to arrive between April 19-21. I just saw your original review yesterday and was a little concerned, so I started watching every video review I could find, and then sent an email with several questions to TIDRadio concerning all the issues that other people had discovered. They won’t see it until Monday, but I’m looking forward to their reply. I wanted the TD-H3 mainly as a GMRS radio, but liked the idea that it can also switch over to 70 cm and 2 meters for when I eventually get my ham license, so I’m hoping my radio has no issues. If it does, though, that’s why I ordered it through Amazon.

I do hope you enjoy it! Congrats on the purchase.

Mine is ordered direct from Tidradio. I hope it has the power levels you showed. i will definitely be testing it, and the spurious emissions.

you can fine tune the output power with the power tune software (TXPower Tune) that is included in the H3's firmware update zip file. The software is very clunky, but it works. I can tune mine to around 2W at low power and max out at 4.8-5.0W at high power. I actually had to retune it after a recent firmware update. It seems the firmware update cleared out the previous power output settings I saved in the radios.
@radisaraca21738 ай бұрын
Hello frend,do you know what the output power was before the firmware upadate ?
@lithangw8 ай бұрын
@@radisaraca2173 before the firmware update, the output power was also 4.8-5.0W after I tuned it. The key point is I tuned it. It wasn't what it was supposed to be (as advertised). The max value you can set is 255 in the app and that maxes out the power output, whatever the radio is capable of. So for HIGH I set it to 255 and it outputs around 5W at HIGH.

I had a good experience out of the box with the radio. I decided to buy extra batteries, went on Amazon to find them for $20ea, scrolled down to see a TD H3 with 2 batteries for $46.99, so what the heck I have another radio, this is how a collection grows. At least it was easy to clone the second one. You make some good content Dude.

Good to know they stand behind the H3 ... I just bought one on Amazon.

The TD-H3 in GMRS mode has access to FRS channels 8-14 which have a 0.5W power limit. This is probably why the 70CM band lower power is limited to 1/2W.

I've got a lot of nice handhelds, some of them costing over ten times the price of this one. But I love the small size and weight of the H3, that I can hardly notice that it's clipped to my belt. With a stubby little Diamond antenna, it's becoming one of my favorite carries.
@HAMRADIODUDE9 ай бұрын
Speaking of clips, do you r clips attach to the battery or the radio? I had an individual say his attach to the radio. Thanks and enjoy those radios. I agree with the small form factor. Cheers.
@socallars37489 ай бұрын
@@HAMRADIODUDE Perhaps that individual has a variant of the H3, but on mine the belt clips are definitely attached to the battery by two machine screws.

Just got a new TD-H3 today and checked the power out and it was 1.3 on low and 4.6 on high on 2 meters and only 1.3 on low and high on 70 cm. I checked the firmware and it was Dec 23 so I updated the firmware to April 24 version. Now my power out is 0.9 on low and 4.5 on high on both 2 meters and 70 cm. There is some software in the download called "Power Tune" that is supposed to be able to tweak the power levels on the radio. Mine is good enough for my needs so I won't be messing with it.

Nice Video, I would have liked to have seen a check on the Spurious emissions. I had ordered this radio from Amazon in a green 2 pack, but have since cancelled it due to the many issues that it has. I still think the power level is too low especially on low power. Should be at least 1 watt on low power and a med. Power as well. 6 or 7 watts on high would be nice as well. I decided that I will not purchase this radio till they fix it . Thank You For your Video., keep up the good work and pressure on tidradio.
@HAMRADIODUDE9 ай бұрын
Hello, as stated at the end of the video, three. Spurious emissions test is coming. Thanks for watching, I'll get that out soon

@Mikesey1 You don't support experimentation and learning within amateur radio?

Now they have to fix their buggy Bluetooth software and CPS. Both have significant issues that I have shared with TIDRADIO.
@HAMRADIODUDE9 ай бұрын
I don't use the Bluetooth software because I still don't trust it is secure. After my plain text password findings, It's hard to trust them. I am thankful for Chirp

I have two td-h3 radios and I used to get a repeater tail squelch on my local repeater after I keyed the PT and now I don't receive it on either one. Any ideas on what setting I may have changed for it to do this? I know I'm in range of it and it's working because I can talk to folks roughly 12 miles through the repeater.
@HAMRADIODUDE9 ай бұрын
Absolutley. Option 40 in the menu is RP STE or Repeater Squelch Tail Elimination . What is it set to? Try to set it to the opposite. If you can report back if that fixed it, then I can make a video. Thanks.

I do think they have QC issues with their batteries, based on my past videos and new reports from you all (You aren't the only one I heard this from in the past day)... Sorry to hear of your troubles.

Out of the box my radio does not broadcast at all no matter which MURS or GMRS or HAM freq I input. It just emits a long beep when I push to talk. I can receive from my other radios on the frequency but cannot broadcast out. Just beeps. POS radio. Would not recommend.
@eijentwun55098 ай бұрын
I uploaded Channels with CHIRP and now my TD-H3 GMRS will NOT transmit on GMRS...and yes I restarted and Tried ALL modes: GMRS, HAM, and NONE. This is Really pissing me off... I hate being deceived like this after so many recommendations
