Excellent.. Thank you for uploading this... I've been pulling my hair out trying to remove the centre console around the hand brake/ashtray (without breaking it, now I know why, hidden screw). Instead of replacing it though, I've gone for a simple respray.. (exact same trim colour as this upload).. I've gone for a bespoke Pearlescent Silver. I'm so greatful you uploaded this because I was having a right old mare!!!!

Thank you, glad it helped. This was my very first time so it took a bit longer. I initially thought of respraying but I’m not good at it and I like the finish of the titanium trim. Wrapping was another alternative, but preferred doing this.

@@epie thanks for replying, my focus mk2.5 will not go in 1st 3rd and 5th i was driving in 2nd and 4th but now they decided not to select gear, its just all floppy now, any idea or what it sounds like it could be, thanks

@@england22222 gear selector links may have come loose, on the transmission or on the shifter, or broken transmission

excelent video. Now i know that upper central part can't be removed because it is molded to panel, which was my plan to remowe and paind it in different color. Now I need to find another solution how to repaint that withut damaging other surface near that part of console.

I have the silver stereo and buttons have been damaged by cleaning chemicals as well.. Luckily you have the black stereo so you didn’t need to change that also.. Oh, and this video was very satisfying to watch lol

Thanks again for a very educational video. I have always, or at least since 2019 when i got my Focus, wondered what these holes in the centre of the console to the heated windows-buttons are. And the funnel-like thing on the backside of it. Is it connected to the air vents in any way?

Thanks. You would have to change the gear gaiter too as it's different and some didn't come with armrest either. I spoke with a Focus MK2 pre-facelift owner and he said that the cupholders weren't much better.

Martin Cooper I can fit two medium cups, but the holders aren’t deep enough unfortunately. They could have made a better job in this day and age anyway.

Which steering wheel feels better to use? That 3 spoke wheel in the video or the 4 spoke wheel that I have in my car?

I think the rim thickness is similar, so I haven’t felt any different when I drove other cars. The advantage is that the 4 spoke can be retrofitted with the cruise control. That’s something I might do in the future

The fastening and screws on motor vehicles are based on production reasons and time. They can spin those thux screws in seconds on the production line which are less likely to slip.. car manufacturers never make things easy for the DIY owner. It's all to do with cost effectiveness in the factory..

Thank you. I’m sure it is, although I don’t know for sure how to remove the gear selector. Apart from that, it should bolt and clip into place on the floor and centre console just like any other MK2 facelift.

Hi ...I have focus 1.6 petrol ...I wanted to upgrade center console for the same like in video ( with armrest ) but both of car lighters aren't connected ...could anyone explain me how I should connect them to car lighter which I have in place of his ash tray compartment

Maybe cut the cigarette lighter wire and connect a longer wire to the cigarette lighters you already have

I used the connectors from the original cigarette lighter and connected the wiring in the centre console to that. I fitted a USB socket in place of the lighter on the centre console and the one in the armrest works as well

It's the electronic stability control. Some ford focus mk2 have that one extra button

@@GentilsGarage It migth also be indicator light for the passenger airbag. I have button for ESP, and I also have that wire. If you have a child seat in the front, you will need to install a switch to the glowbox that will disable passenger airbag. When they install that switch, there will be a separate indicator light, that wire might be for that light.
