It's funny, I wanted to look back at this video because it helped me through my years of high school. It's great looking at the comments, I first used this video 2017-2018, I should have left a comment thanking you. If you ever read these comments. I am doing it now, as I'm a senior and the new cadets are learning, I've shown them this video because it is an amazing one. Thank you!

Excellent video this is how I teach my Cates to make a military single knot tie. I'm a Cadet Major at a Military Academy and I would like to add that my Cadets are required to wear a Tie Tack and a Tie Bar. Tie Bar must be completely in the middle and tie tack 1/4 down from the neck of the shirt.Taking a ruler I measure the bottom of the knot to the top of the tie Bar.And the I measure from the bottom of the tie bar to the bottom of the tie.Tie must sit half way down the belt loop.If tie does not land right in the middle of the belt loop demerits are issued.

Maybe I'm old but I learned how to tie a tie when I was 8 years old. Now, at that age, my knots were not the best but eventually, I perfected my technique. Do parents not teach their children such skills in this day and age?

Cpt, thanks for the video, i have a question regarding tucking your tie to the shirt, i know the (very) old regs would allow for it and it was pretty common, i wonder what about now, specially with the new (old) army dress uniform comming up
@TownleyVM6 жыл бұрын
Federico Olivares The only time you will see the full time is when you are dressing, so when you are fully dressed with tie, only the knot shows. Therefore anything below that will not be seen. Hope this helps.
@Fede_uyz6 жыл бұрын
Tim Townley alright, so there's no army regs against tucking the tie (while wearing class A's and B's) ? Also, is it common now a days? (i really look up to the US army and sadly, because i'm a foreigner i cant join, so i have to satisfy my desire by simply learning, also, having done Army JROTC while i did an exchange year didnt help, i wish i could enlist)
@jacecarter35799 жыл бұрын
Captain, if I may ask, what do I do with all the extra stuff in the narrow end Sir? It goes down about a foot below the thick end.
@clunkCA9 жыл бұрын
There should be a little tag on the back of the tie that you put the narrow end in so it doesn't show.
@gabrielbernstein27275 жыл бұрын
If that’s the case, then I would say you should untie the tie, then do it again, but this time when you start, have the narrow end of the tie be in about the center of your breast (this was the best for me

If distance on the tie position is not 50/50 4 demerits are issued 2 for the top 2 for the bottom. Yesterday was my Brother who is an 8th grade cadet first day.I issued him 40 demerits for Dress violations. Then there was a problem with His platoon and nobody owned up to it with that all Cadets in the platoon were issued 50 demerits and the platoon leader had his rank removed Doesnt matter if it was his first day and I smoked Him ?I will straighten him out.
@johnvmi274 жыл бұрын
I just promoted to Lieutenant Colonel and on my first day I schedule the entire Corps of Cadets for a formal Inspectiom with their Dress Gray Class A uniforms on a Saturday Night doesn't make you popular but it's a Military Academy it's suppose to be strict and intense. PG grad Cadets hate getting their behind busted by a 16 year old.
