The shirt turned out really neat Angie! I'm so glad you showed how to neutralize bleach on fabric, so many people I know don't think you need to neutralize bleach, they think just washing will do, then wonder why their fabrics shred or get holey and don't last! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you - I'm glad you like it. You're right - it is very important to neutralize the bleach.

This scrunch method looks awesome! This would be a great pattern for woodland areas like the Ozarks, Appalachia, Northern States, back east. It's strikingly similar to the Ukrainian "Frog" pattern, just lacking some of the tan and black flecking, which wouldn't be hard to add. I'm thinking this could be a great basis for a desert pattern, starting with a coyote brown color and bleaching that out. Then maybe twist tightly on the long axis and apply darker dye for a brushstroke or vertical streak look. Great video.

It looks great, nice camo pattern for green tree and grass. If you use a brownish tan shirt it could be a great desert camo pattern. Plus grey for urban camo.

I’ve made a few of these, but always learn new things from your vids 👍 thanks for sharing! When I make these, I go through a second bleach. After the first bleach, I neutralize and wash, then scrunch it up fresh and tie it for a second round of bleach. It creates even more splotchiness and splits into more shades. After the second wash, if it ends up too light, I do a normal scrunch dye and add a little color back in. Whew! That’s a lot of work Steve! 🤪

I did something similar: bleached a crumpled green shirt, I did it dry though and I also used white vinegar in random spots too. It made the bleach work even more so there are lots of different bleached tones, it really looks like camo.

@@FunEndeavors I’m trying to find a way to camo an OD green bucket hat that I like to hunt in. Just not crazy about the idea of spray painting it and having that stuff bleeding out onto my head. Not sure if the scrunch method would work well.
@FunEndeavors Жыл бұрын
@@WOMPITUS I think it's worth a try. If it doesn't turn out the way you want it to, you can always add dye on to the hat to hopefully get the look you are going for. I don't know that I would feel comfortable spray painting it either. I recently made a shirt where I used wiffle balls and I had several people comment how much it looked like camo. The hat started white, but you could maybe alter the colors a bit and get a similar effect. Here's a link to that video if you'd like to see the shirt. kzbin.info/www/bejne/pKGnf5h4i5V6nqM

@@FunEndeavors ok tell me this if the hat is OD green and I add Tan Rit to it what color do you think it would make?
@FunEndeavors Жыл бұрын
@@WOMPITUS I've never used Rit Dye so I'm not sure how well it will cover the OD Green. I use fiber reactive dye and with the type dye I use beige may not cover, but there are darker browns and green that will. I would use my dye as a powder too so that I could put it in specific areas on the hat.

Good afternoon I just tried this on one of my shirts and the bleach turned the out orange instead of just fading the color. Does this have to do with the dye used color the shirt in the first place or was my bleach solution to strong?
@FunEndeavors2 жыл бұрын
Hi! It does depend on the color of the shirt. Some colored shirts lighten like this one did, but others like black shirts usually turn orange. The strength of your bleach solution isn't the problem. A stronger solution will just remove the color faster, but it won't affect the color that the shirt turns. It's always fun to experiment with colored shirts and see what color they end up.
@dylanbarnes13762 жыл бұрын
@@FunEndeavors it was the same color as yours to start. After I washed it I mixed up a custom lighter green and stove dyed it almost all the orange went away and what was left is sort of brown.
@FunEndeavors2 жыл бұрын
@@dylanbarnes1376 That's bizarre isn't it?! I bet the brown enhanced the camo effect of the green.
