Thank you for explaining about the sodium carbonate in most laundry detergents. I didn't know that and it's very important. Thankfully, I have been using Dawn for the hot water wash along with Shout Color Catcher Sheets, so I haven't had and bleedover. But it's nice to know the reason why!

LOVE the shirt! The back, especially while on the manikin, is highly reminiscent of wings perfectly placed on the shoulders. The whole shirt is beautiful!

Thank you so much! The wings weren't intentional, but they are a happy surprise.

The gravity technique is looking more and more awesome. That back though, wow. Such a great random look that actually looks like wings on the shoulders.

Wow, all of a sudden I was a young kid, daydreaming in church looking at the stained glass windows! LOL The front def looks like a round church window, and I will even go as far to say there are wings on the shoulders on the back side. ;)

That's a great description for it. I didn't pay attention to the front looking like a stained glass window, but I did see the angel wings on the back.

I love all of your shirts and videos. Very relaxing and informative. I have two of my first shirts in years in the wash right now. I've saved your videos and am going to try at least 30 new styles. Ordered a six pack of hemostats after watching this, I'm like a kid at Christmas right now. Thanks! ❤️🙏🏽

Yay - I'm so glad you are enjoying the videos! It is always fun to hear that I've helped inspire someone. I hope you enjoy experimenting with the hemostats. There are so many ways you can use them. I hope you have fun trying out some new styles!

What could we use instead of hemostat?:0 I looked up every possible idea possible I feel From Heming clips to banker's clamps it just doesn't work out :( Either they're too short or their grip isn't tight enough or something else

Unfortunately, there isn't a good substitute for hemostats. They really give the shirt a unique look.

This is a really nice shirt! Love the colors and mandala. I probably don't like the back as much as you do, but I do see why you like it, and appreciate it for those reasons. I also appreciate the flat and mannequin pics. Thanks!!! 🥰

Thank you for this video. The colors are do you have to use 100% cotton for this procedure questiodemark I find a 100% cotton so heavy and hot in my area. Thank you.

I use Procion Fiber Reactive Dye and it requires natural fibers. I mainly use cotton, rayon and viscose.

the back has an angle wing whisp to it, it would be cool if you could replicate that effect full length on the back of a shirt! The mandala is gorgeous of course!!

I really enjoy your tutorials! I was wondering if you could give me some advice on hemostat use? I did a couple hemostat mandalas and on a few of them I got these small blotches with hard edges. It looks like what happens when watercolors puddle and make a hard edged splotch. I've been using the hemostats with dye under ice and it doesn't happen every time but I'm not sure if I'm using the hemostats wrong and it's causing some strange small puddles? Any advice would be welcome, thanks!

Thank you - I'm glad you like the tutorials. I'm not quite sure what is happening. I can't imagine a way that you could be using the hemostats wrong. Does it happen with a particular color?
@theusernameyouwanted
@theusernameyouwanted Жыл бұрын
@@FunEndeavors It doesn't seem to be any one color, I've had it happen with Dharma's Bronze, Moss green, and New Emerald Green. Someone on the Tie Dye Reddit suggested that the dye may be pooling against the hemostats or in the fold if the fabric is compressed too much but I'm using them the same way each time and it still only happens like 3/7 times. I would also think if it was dye pooling it would have soft edges rather than hard edges since it should absorb into the wet fabric and maybe just make a darker spot like when dye pools in other places during ice dying. My brother is a chemist and suggested that there could be a reaction between some of the dyes and the metal but I've searched on google and reddit to see if anyone else is having this problem and couldn't find any mention of it so I'm not sure. Anyway, thank you for your response, I really appreciate the help.

@@theusernameyouwanted That's kind of strange. Does it look bad on the shirt? It might just accent the hemostat line a little extra, but not necessarily detract from the design. It is probably just the way the ice is melting and causing the dye to dissolve. I use way too much dye most of the time so that may be why I haven't noticed it in my design. I don't think it's a chemical reaction with the hemostats. Soda ash reacts with some metal, but thankfully not stainless steel. It reacts with aluminum and causes small holes.
@theusernameyouwanted

@@FunEndeavors It doesn't look really terrible but its such a different shape than the hemostat lines and it has very defined edges in contrast to the very soft edges of the ice dye that, if I can, I would work to prevent it. Like, most people don't seem to notice it until I point it out but if I showed it to you I think you would probably notice it pretty quick since you know what ice dye is usually supposed to look like. I'm not sure it has to do with the amount of dye but now that you mention that I'm wondering if consistency might affect it. Like the sandy dyes vs. the ones that become more paste like when wet. I'll have to experiment. I think I'm also going to cover them in heat shrink tubing like you suggest in your tutorial. I think it's time for some experiments lol In any case, thank you very much for taking the time to help me trouble shoot. I really appreciate it!
@FunEndeavors
@FunEndeavors Жыл бұрын
@@theusernameyouwanted I think that's a great place to start. It could possibly have to do with the consistency of the dye. If you track down what was causing it, please let me know.
