I’ve heard of urea but not calsolene oil. What’s that for? Thanks for sharing your process. 🥰
@BelladonnaDyesCo3 жыл бұрын
Good question! Calsolene is a wetting agent and increases the evenness of dyeing. I use this “chem” water to mix my liquid dyes. Hope this helps. 😊❤️🌈
@alan_whoneedstiedye2 жыл бұрын
Your Chem water is only simular to mine in the same proportion of urea to water. I also add 2 other ingredients beyond the oil. I almost always dye dry. Thanks for sharing.
@BelladonnaDyesCo2 жыл бұрын
I dye damp so this works for me. I’ve considered adding salt. At this time for what I make, chem water isn’t even necessary. It’s out there as an option for those looking to learn about it. 😁❤️🌈

Do you see a significant difference between using the urea/oil mixture and just plain tap water? Or does it work better for specific processes?
@BelladonnaDyesCo3 жыл бұрын
Great question Toni. The short answer is no. Chem water isn’t necessary. I was trying to dye dry and having problems with saturation. I no longer dye dry. Urea helps dissolve stubborn dyes, for example, lemon yellow. If you live in a dry climate urea is helpful to keep the fabric damp during batching. Once the project dries the reaction stops and can hinder vibrancy. If you keep it covered in plastic or with a lid it shouldn’t dry out before 24 hours… The calsolene oil is there to help blend the dye for an even look. Also, not necessary. Since I have the products I use them. This tutorial is a demonstration of my process. A lot of the master dyers use “chem” water for things like Kenny Style and Wig Wags. The more intricate things you see out there. It’s a matter of preference. I hope this help! 😁❤️🌈

Can you freeze the urea mixture or dye mixture in ice trays and use them? I want vibrant colors in an ice dye. (I'm just beginning)
@BelladonnaDyesCo3 жыл бұрын
In my opinion urea is not needed in ice dyes. I don’t use it. Urea is a wetting agent. In ice dye there is enough moisture via the ice. Urea is meant to be used with liquid dyes. Now that being said, yes you can freeze urea if you really want to. Hope this helps! 😄❤️🌈

What exactly is casoline oil?? First time I've heard of it. What does it do?
@BelladonnaDyesCo3 жыл бұрын
Good question, Denise. Calsolene oil is a wetting agent is very helpful when dyeing tightly woven fabrics or for generally increasing evenness of dyeing. It breaks the surface tension and 'wets-out' the fabric making it easier to dye. Hope this helps. ❤️🌈
@denisekrausnick22583 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the information on the calsoline oil . How often do you use urea?? All the time??
@BelladonnaDyesCo3 жыл бұрын
@@denisekrausnick2258 I use what’s in this gallon jug every time I mix liquid dye. The only exception is when I make thickened dye, I use plain tap water for that. You can mix dye with plain tap water if you want. This recipe is for going to the next level if you’re so inclined. ❤️🌈
