I think taekwondo is so underrated because it's looking so cool in any movie that appears in it and always steal the show from the other styles. I remember in Bangkok Knockout the best fights was the taekwondo guy. Also taekwondo is not limited because it depends on kicking which is the only tool that have a wide range of techniques more than striking and grappling so i guess it should take the karate spot because it's more focused and recognizable in movies and if it done right in movies with a good marital arts actors, creative choreography and a director knows how to shoot the fight sequences i think it would be popular like kung fu

This got me looking back at all the lists I saved in a Google Doc from all the fight scene compilations I made/deleted based on specific martial art categories back in the day. Quite a few more I would’ve included in this too. Loved the tier list discussion on the topic.

There are so many tier lists on youtube to every possible topic but there is no one yet who ranks fight scenes from famous martial arts movies.

I wish I could have been a part of this I feel like this list is lacking so much for the martial arts represented. Boxing was definitely done dirty. So many movie examples are missing for several martial arts on the list that show just how entertaining they can be.

Yes, I love seeing the traditional wushu with animal forms and everything. It's a strong contrast to modern martial arts.

Heang Jang Lee is Taekwondo. I believe he's an 8th degree black belt.

As a long time tai chi praticer, I think the tai chi vs wing chun scene in ip man 4 is probably the most legitimate tai chi fight I’ve ever seen in screen.

How do you not mention Taekwondo and not The Best Of The Best. Hands down the best Taekwondo movie.

Only the strong is an enjoyable movie that I watched for the first time yesterday. Unfortunately The martial arts is badly edited for the most part, I don't know if the people Mark Dacascos is fighting in the film or if it's all the fault of the action choreographer, who i'm pretty sure was Frank Dux, but man it felt like you never saw the hits connect for the majority of the fights, either instantly cutting to an alternate shot taking the umph out of the hit or just not having the hit connect at all. Still a good film, Mark did a really good job with capoeria considering he learnt it during production.

I feel like if you love the Sonny Chiba Street Fighter movies it's not for the actual fights, because they're lacking IMO. You probably love it because they are unapologetically trashy and grisly, and Chiba is just a ball of charisma and cool.

Chiba's charisma and intensity just EXPLODES through the screen in the Street Fighter series.
