I found this campaign tough but enjoyable...I managed to get a few units of mercenary hoplites and they carried my main army
@qualityoldgames77212 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Yea, the merc Hoplites are among the best merc units imo :)

My personal ranking: S: General's Bodyguards, Onagers A: Archers, Numidian cavalry B: Long Shield Cavalry, Desert Infantry C: Camel Riders, Numidian Legionaries, Numidian Javelinmen D: Slingers, Peasants

Thanks for the comment. Looks intriguing and I assume we have different playstyles. Could you elaborate a bit the high ranking of Onagers as we differ quite a bit there? :)
@gurugru59582 күн бұрын
@qualityoldgames7721 In the late game, I find a few onagers really helpful. The AI is super passive against them, so you can snipe generals. Plus, onagers can do a lot of damage to highly powerful units like Spartans or urban cohorts. It's a dangerous yet potent unit

@@gurugru5958 Valid points :) Thanks for the elaboration.

Numidia is extremely one-dimensional, you basically just spam Numidia cavalry and long-shield cavalry. I did a Numidia campaign at one point, they actually have surprisingly good economy due to their dirt-cheap units, temples and headcutting thing which provide reduction in corruption.

Thanks for the comment. Yea, with this faction cav is clearly the king :)

can you name the special infantry in the file ?
@qualityoldgames77212 күн бұрын
Thanks for the question. They are actually in the image file. I deduced from the image similarities to SB Cav and Libyan Spearmen that they represent those :) They are named as Carthaginian Royal Cavalry and Carthaginian Medium Infantry.

Camel riders are there to defeat horse generals. They are amazing with that. You do not build more than 3 of those generally. Defeating roman armies (by killing their generals with camels) ridiculously funny.
@qualityoldgames77212 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Yea, that might be fair use of them. But could not 3 Long Shield Cavs or Numidian Cavs get the job done? :)
@VektordeformacioКүн бұрын
@@qualityoldgames7721 They can kill the rest of the enemy army in the meantime. When you face the SPQR, you need most of your army to kill their army, so you can use your camels to deal with the generals.

I've never understood the complaining about this roster, but it is small and therefore can be a bit boring. The most dangerous enemy unit you fight, especially on very hard battle difficulty, is general's bodyguard. Numidia has easy access to a relatively cheap anti-cav unit. Meanwhile the Romans are sacrificing whole stacks of hastati to take down one general, and Spain gets nothing beyond town watch.
@qualityoldgames77212 күн бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Yea, especially the cav can be efficient :)

Numidians with Sacred Band Cavalry and Libyan Spearmen... the former would actually make a lot of sense and make them a much more legit cavalry threat. The latter... eh. Desert Spearmen are better.

Thanks for the comment. Yea, agreed on that :)

Numidia. Litterally worse Carthage. "B but they get legionaries" no. They get principes.
@herroberbesserwisser73312 күн бұрын
They get archers from large towns. thats extremely busted. Like... Actually. way better than spain. just rush carthage easily with jav cav and then get unlimited money and wipe with archers
@qualityoldgames77212 күн бұрын
And those Principes are T4 unit for Numidia :) Thanks for the comment.

@herroberbesserwisser7331 Thanks for the comment. Yea, those archers are really nice for them :)
@matthiasdarrington327112 сағат бұрын
@herroberbesserwisser7331 yeah IMO it's a bit of a Parthia-style army where you snipe the enemy cav with yours, then peper the archers and spearmen with your stack of dirt cheap archers until you can swipe with your left-over long-shield cav.
