Im actually gonna have to correct you on this update. This wasn't a glitch, but rather an oversight by the devs. When the devs introduced a new material for plants, called lignin, they introduced trees into the ecosystem for all the new players to chow on. But they made an oversight in that bacteria and fungi players could not digest the lignin in the trees, which would normally take in the oxygen in the atmosphere and spit out co2. So the oxygen built up, giving arthropod players a big advantage. It didn't take too long for the deva to realize their mistake and patch in the ability to digest lignin, balancing everything out

@@iker9095 They were probably pretty tired after the lengths they had to go to to break up the Devonian meta. Dunkleosteus survived the first extinction patch, forcing them to do another. It might not be as much of a threat now, but Dunkleosteus was very strong at the time. It and some of the other fish like Hyneria were so strong that the non-giant predatory fish players were begging the devs to let more guilds access the land servers.

They were barely introduced and had to face very dangerous opponents, specially the first flying build(if it wasn't the first, then it was the first strong flying build). That may also explain why did the devs make them the most dominant species of the server for the longest time after that, they probably wanted to compensate them, but got too far again and had to drop the great extinction event again. The arthropods back then got their stats handed to them, whereas our ancestors had to grind really hard to level our intelligence stat up. We didn't have to rely on any overworld events to thrive. In fact, according to tierzoo's video on how humans broke the game, the ice age balance patch actually hit the sapiens faction in the African server pretty hard.

If you dig in the code a bit you find hints that the devs may have been intending to make the plants playable thus giving competition to both vertibrate and vertibrate animals. Some plants today still have abilities that suggest this such as carnivorous plants however plants were never given a movement ability on the official server and are only playable on one or two modded servers. The devs must have made this update to see if the meta would hold up when players were alowed to spawn as plants and ultimately they chose never to do it.

You must do certain things to unlock the ability to play as a plant, not sure what they are though because very little information is available. Well if you did it now... since humans exist, it would certainly mean lots of terrifying insects, but it would also be great news for humans and other large mammals. More oxygen is a superbuff for every species in a higher weight class, it's just that arthropods benefitted more in that meta.

Just Incase anyone isn’t aware, although there were tons of giant bugs back then the giant spider was just a myth made up by other arthropod players to scare new vertebrate players. In reality the snapshots they showed of it were really photoshopped pictures of one of the last euripterid builds (not sure I spelled it right). I’d also like to briefly comment on another extinct hoax. Many many players have been spreading the misnomer that Mammoths will be added back to the current meta, however it was revealed to just be a hairy skin for the Asian elephant that isn’t even finished yet.

From the look of it, those were fairly recent, and actually coherent. So, I've come to realise that this account simply belongs to a die-hard Arthropleura main who's gotten tired of their patch 1.1.5 private server, and was looking to switch onto the higher populated live version of the game. My guess is that they posted these tweets as they were catching up reading the patch notes. They also must work at Nintendo, because they posted a screenshot of the new Smash game [with a screenshot of the trailer] back in 2015.
