Cloud initiating the kiss is so goddamn powerful. And it's easy to miss, but the hug was powerful too. In Remake, he couldn't hug Tifa right without hurting her. Now he does it with ease. Awesome show of character growth from Cloud.

Yup, Cloud musters the courage to do what he realised Tifa was about to do in Gongaga, before Yuffie opened her mouth. He even replicates stretching out his hand, as he did in Gongaga when she came up and grabbed it. So when she took his hand he finally made his move. Remember that both have had feelings for eachother since childhood, but neither knew that the other felt the same. Just holding her hand to convey the like 15 years of feelings they've both had for eachother simply wouldn't cut it. They had to kiss, simple as that. While i like Cloud and Aerith as a love story too and found their date to be intimate and cute aswell. Two people who recently met, the girl confesses that she kind of wants to see were the two might go, but does not expect that the boy will reciprocate the feeling and the boy gathering courage to take her hand with affection to convey that he too want's to see were their feelings take them. It's cute. It fits their dynamic togheter. They didn't need to kiss to convey affection at that stage in their potential romance. But with Tifa it would have been just terrible if they had made Cloud just grab her hand in silence. They had to kiss. Simple as that.

She is not a big fan of the final fantasy saga but she was moved to see me so excited and she recognized that the moment of the kiss was very well designed, especially Tifa's gestures, looking at Cloud's lips. There’s so many little details throughout the whole scene that I absolutely adore. 0:48 Tifa is clearly shy/nervous but super happy about this moment 1:01 the way Cloud without hesitation embraces Tifa for a split second 2:07 you can clearly tell he’s about to tell her something. The music changing to what plays once the kiss sequence starts is a dead giveaway he was about to “spill his guts” to her 2:53 staring at Tifa and when Tifa sees him, they both shyly look away 4:54 Tifa holding her own hand. She does this in a lot of moments throughout the game when it’s just her and Cloud. She yearns for someone to be able to love 5:10 her adorable smile when she realizes that Cloud is opening himself up to her. 5:28 Cloud being super gentle with her and slowly moving in for the money shot, as Tifa gives her approval by closing her eyes. And lastly, at 5:55, they both act adorably shy when they make eye contact In the OG, the fireworks actually interrupt the moment they’re about to kiss. But here, if anything, it enhances their moment when they hug and Cloud moves in for the kiss. Square plz, give our boy a happy ending at the end of Part 3. Have Cloud and Tifa get married with Aerith being the flower girl lol Also as a tangent… the song that plays in this sequence… if you’ve played the OG, it plays during one of the most heartbreaking moments in the entire game. The fact that they use it here for this scene… means that when they use it again for part 3, it’s going to hit like a truck

What I love about this scene is that in the OG, Tifa tried her best to confess her feelings to her childhood crush but was sadly "Interrupted By Fireworks", hence the title of this track. Now, 27 years later and with a new gorgeous backdrop, it's Cloud who makes the first move to affirm their relationship. Just like that, the fireworks transformed from a barrier to an applause, a second-chance done right! It's like the devs themselves are celebrating this historic moment with us!

Square Enix debunking the Cloud x Aerith argument that Cloud only chose Tifa because Aerith was dead. I'm so happy the kiss happened before that. It shows that when the choice between the two girls was open and available, Cloud made it clear whom he wanted romantically, and that was Tifa.

I love this kiss so much, because it’s mutual on both sides, especially from Cloud’s part. What I love most about Cloud and Tifa relationship is that they really care about each other first, then the romance can’t help but show up. They aren’t shy towards each other, it’s that they care too much about the other person and their boundary to overstepping it. It’s not that they lack confidence, it’s because they know about each other’s trauma and want to respect that and help each other through it first. I think that’s why the gondola moment is so important, it’s one of those rare moments where they aren’t worried about Sephiroth and the end of the world, so they have a chance to really show each other their feelings. Anyone who thinks that this scene is anything but a well deserved, well built up love confession from each side is delusional.

Crazy part about this is that it's made as optional but regarding other parts of the story and another moment in gongaga when they almost kissed again this feels like it's canon and not even close to having other options. Re watched the recording I did when I myself got to this point and honestly this might as well be one of the top fictional romance you can get. Edit: It also occured to me that there is practically nothing like what goes on between tifa and cloud happens with aerith outside of the intended quests though considering the ending Cloud and Tifa is pretty much going to be public within the 3rd installment or somewhere in between there's also highwind which is exciting because this gold saucer went pretty romantic with them. As for clerith eh since it has been confirmed by the creative director that deaths are staying the timeline where the group is she's not gonna come back but maybe in the Zack timeline it can be saved since she's only in coma there so she doesn't remain alone.

This scene proof: 1. Cloud love Tifa since the beginning of the story. Cloud kissed Tifa while Aerith still around. That means Aerith's death is also not the reason Cloud and Tifa start developing feeling toward each other in the next game. 2. Cloud's head is so fucked up more than you thought. Gonna get this off my chest To all the toxic ass Clerith fans if you seriously try to say that Cloti isn’t canon literally look at the lore the developers themselves even stated that those two were always meant for each other even going so far as to call Tifa Cloud’s sweetheart in Japanese. They’ve also stated that Cloud is more himself around Tifa then he ever is around Aerith. Had Tifa died not even Aerith could’ve brought Cloud back he would’ve totally went insane literally batshit crazy. Tifa means the most to him even more so than Aerith. Did he develop feelings for Aerith? Yes but he was living out Zack’s persona and memories she never really knew who he really was if she did she would’ve known he had feelings for only Tifa. Cuz we all know had Cloud not got captured by Hojo he would’ve moved heaven and earth to find Tifa after the Nibelheim incident. Not to mention he never kissed Aerith that should tell you who he really loves not to mention he almost kissed her in Gongaga something he never came close to with Aerith the developers are telling you something here. As for Zack people can say she moved on all they want but we all know she’d like to know what happened to him and once she sees him alive and well she’s probably gonna reconsider about moving on from him as she missed him dearly. Hell even half the party members ship Cloud with Tifa that should tell you where the developers are headed with this story. Clerith fans also won’t mention that had she not followed Cloud he would’ve continued on to Sector 7 without an extra thought as he was willing to fulfill Elmyras wish of him never talking to her again. In the end Tifa is literally his biggest support and without her he would’ve never gotten truly saved in fact he would’ve lost himself entirely I seriously don’t know how Clerith fans can debate this anymore especially after a kiss hand holding and hugging is cute and all but a kiss has a much more deeper meaning then hand holding ever could.
