Between them wanting to keep Advent Children canon, where they live together as a family with two adopted children, and the expansion they've done on so many moments so far (with the Lifestream and the night before the final battle still to come), my feelings are that, even if SquareEnix does throw in some things to rock the boat, we're not seeing anything capsized either from what we canonically had before. If anything, it'll probably be expanded upon. And, hey, way it's looking, we'll probably get to see Aerith and Zack together one last time, and that couple deserves love too! :)

The remake series actually does justice to Cloud's character. OG Cloud gives off a slight autism about him, like he doesn't know where he is and can never read the room, his flashbacks kicking in to fill in the gaps where his memories should be as a survival tactic. Because OG is mute, you tend to miss on many of his charismatic and get together moments, which are there to notice if you're a long time fan and can spot them. In here you can really take them in...For example Cloud and Tifa have these sweet idiosyncracies together, showing they know each other well. Cloud expressing precision curiousity about Tifa's insecurity and is surprisingly talkative, making you feel Tifa is the main character for a brief moment. I wonder if it's because he took Merle's advice. I love characters that give each other depth and a place at the spotlight. And boy does she love him for it. She is basically showing interest in him for the entirety of Remake and Rebirth.

In case you haven't played yet, you go on two dates. This isn't the romantic one, and you're cut off by in-game story events. This is also a good gauge to see which person you are on track for the romantic date. If you want to date someone else for the romantic version, do more of their side quests/give better responses to them/do synergy moves with them/etc.

Im glad they added more character to Tifa in remake/rebirth, from what i remember of ff7 she was still good and had her moments for sure, but was never quite as memorable as Aerith, or even the other love interests in future games (Rinoa, Garnet, Yuna). Tifa is great in rebirth and her relationships with the other parties members are all really cute and entertaining. I already really enjoyed the cast of ff7, but rebirth has given me a whole new appreciation for the characters.

1. Not at all lol, she's written to never have had any interest in anyone else from Nibelheim until the events of FF7. 2. You can see Emilio in Crisis Core, nothing special really tbh. It's shown that all the other NIbelheim boys looked pretty normal and similar to one another. Cloud was the only blonde guy with as described by townsfolk 'soft features and unique hair'. It's heavily implied Tifa also likes him for that. That he's so unique looking and has a male beauty to him. In Crisis Core emails she specifically mentions his blonde hair and that she's looking for a blonde knight yadda yadda. So to answer you question. Emilio looks ordinary. Cloud on the other hand does not. Namely in her eyes ofcourse.

At least from what I've seen, female characters in modern video games are often very cynical or neurotic and try to exploit romantic feelings. Not only does Tifa share her past with Cloud, but she purely loves Cloud herself, so she only sees aspects of herself in Cloud that she cannot show to others.

Clouds view of her is pretty endearing but honestly not overly complicated. Then again it's also not hard to figure what he likes about her. But her view of him is really unique as you said. I don't think there's any other person that views him the way she does, not even Aerith. It's very complex and multi layered. You really have to see things from her perspective to truly get it. Because really apart from his looks as I mentioned (big component sure, even for a girl like Tifa). Everything else about him really makes you scratch your head why she's so obsessed. But then you follow the story along and you get it.

Although she is very beautiful and excels at martial arts, she is not a descendant of an ancient race like Aerith and is only the daughter of the mayor of a rural village. If Sephiroth and Shinra hadn't done something like that to the village, she would have remained just an ordinary citizen. Her father and all the villagers died, and the resistance threw themselves into their hatred for Shinra, but I think this is where Tifa becomes special. In the remake, she is not very happy about Shinra's extreme armed struggle that exploded the Mako power plant. Aside from her hatred for Shinra, she is extremely reluctant to let innocent people be harmed by their armed struggle. Even if there was a setback in the rebellion, her desire to protect the innocent did not change, and I think this is what makes Tifa different from other female resistance characters. There are many reasons why she loves Cloud, but what I can be sure of is that Tifa is the only friend and lover who can tell about her past, and they treat each other honestly.

It's weird to see Tifa be kind to Cloud instead of just lie to him like she did in the original.

Well she does in 2 scenes in rebirth but eh she still tries more than being intentionally hurtful. That being said I dont blame folk if they dislike her because of it.

@@gatorssbm Tbf, she is just trying to help Cloud without overwhelming him or overstepping. Its a tough sitaution most wouldn't be able to handle without messing up.

She never lied to Cloud…..is because she’s not too sure if it was actually the truth or not…… like she thought Zack is dead but she can’t bring herself by telling cloud if it’s true or not that did Zack survived in the river current….

@@koolerman4443 Well yeah its a tough spot to be in especially witnessing him snap and be near lifeless when you find him in a catatonic state in a random street. I think not just Tifa but Cloud shouldve tried talking about it earliest at Gongaga and latest when they found out Nibelheim was rebuilt by shinra to not leave any stone unturned. Its scary as hell but any relationship worth saving constitutes some openess to any difficult to talk topics or just conflict before it reaches a boiling point. Personally I dont blame either party.
