This song appears in my 1987-88 middle school yearbook, from Manila, Philippines. The graduating 8th grade class was asked to vote for their favorite pop culture things, and this song and Heaven is a Place on Earth tied for favorite song. I've always loved this one myself, and I have to say, it really holds up.

This is such a Awesome comment Mia S. I agree w/you like 100% when l say the 80's were definately a decade. . . .that is quite memorable. There were such great /memorable songs ! ! They were songs that were what's known ad "Catchy, " songs. . . .meaning, they were songs that stuck in your head. . . .you looked forward to hearing repeatedly. wished you could put the ones we 💖 so much, on REPEAT. There was internet in the 1980s but it was only used by a few thousand people world wide back there. There was USENET which was a set of online forums. There was also Archie and Gopher where people could publish and share files. And in 1988 there was IRC, Internet Relay Chat, the first online chatrooms. The world wide web would finally debut in April 1993.

Still sounds so darn great. Brings me back to when I was a very young boy. My cousin (a girl) loved Tiffany so much she bought her tape. My aunt delivered news papers and this would play throughout our early early morning hours with the smell of mist in the air mixed with the trees. It would really hit the mood at that time. Talking like 1:00-2:00am in the morning. The 1980’s were some good memories. When everyone I cared for was still around and healthy. Miss you guys. Memories of a much simpler time. A painful time but as yet unmatched. I think perhaps the music one associates with their pre-teen and teen years always feels like that. Same teenage thought that "no one else could feel this way, no one could know this thing (whatever it may be) the way I know it now." It's a painful yet lovely feeling.

stilettosandshades LIKEWISE! Nothing against "growing up" or "moving on with my adult life," BUT, in my opinion, there WERE certain moments in my PRE-ADULT life that I, UNFORTUNATELY, CANNOT re-live or re-experience IN my adult life. Heck, even my college years, "weren't as sociable" as my high school years! I thought, "Heck, if THIS is how or the way adults are supposed to behave, then I'd rather stay a teenager!"
@danlc954 жыл бұрын
That's so true. Firsts as a youth have such strong impact. I can only imagine it's similar to an addicts first high. We sometimes go through life trying to capture that feeling again. Our first crush, first kiss, first love... The other side of a first time, is somewhere you can't come back from.

OK all you mid 40's-50 people, if you could go back in time to relive the 80's, BUT you would lose 15 to 20 years off your TOTAL life, (so instead of dying at 90 years old, you would die at 70-75 years old) would you do it?? The 80's were a unique and amazing decade. The music! The parties! The dances! The friends (many of which you still have 30 years later). Even the movies (ET, The Breakfast Club, Fast Times At Ridgemont High. Dirty Dancing ) NOBODY puts Baby in the corner!! Now that you know that the worst that can happen to you is to be grounded for a week or two or maybe lose your phone privileges for an entire weekend, would you have done more than you did the first time around?? Many of us would kill for a chance to get back to the big hair, the leg warmers, the girls bathroom so thick with hair spray that it resembled a fog machine, and a chance to dust off those jean jackets one more time! The 80's were the last decade that, as a kid, we could stay out until after dark, safely go into neighbors houses, and there was no reason to get out of bed if you fell asleep and only locked the screen door! We didn't have XBox or Wii, or even cell phones! but somehow, we managed to survive!. Hell, I'd even go so far as to say we had more fun without all those things! If we had a day of technological gaming, it was playing Frogger or Pong! We were totally happy playing hide and seek or Cowboys and Indians (no we didn't call it Western Residents and Native Americans) and we never heard of PC unless it was some weird idea from a company called Apple. We made complex tunnels in the snow banks, used ropes to swing 5 or 6 kids at a time 20 to 40 feet in the air (and we lived when we all fell off in a tangled heap! Even without HMO's!). We fed marshmallows to raccoons from the back door steps, and taught chipmunks to eat nuts out of our hands or while sitting on our shoulders, and we didn't get lice, or ticks, or rabies! Life was easier then, and a hell of a lot more fun than any kid has today. Why? Because we were safe. Kids could wander the neighborhood, ride our bikes along roadsides, and enjoy running through connected yards sometimes until 9 or 9:30 at night! We chased fireflies and put them in jars to watch them glow before letting them go. To put it simply, we were safe. Everyone knew everyone! But I think the one thing that made it so much more fun and adventuresome was because we went OUTSIDE, and for some weird reason we preferred it that way!

+onehit pick That's true, but look at how many music video programs VH1 and M2 have had since 1987 that could have included such a video and kept this song alive. As it were, I never heard this song on radio or TV ever again. Yet I have seen and heard "Think We're Alone Now" and "All This Time" numerous times. And now with KZbin, a whole new generation could have discovered the song. Live performances like the one posted here are one thing, but there is something very magical and powerful about a real music video. Especially with powerful images that would have most certainly been presented with such an emotionally charged song.

+shyman99 What are you talking about this was a number 1 hit in many countries al over the world. And this is the official video and was on Television almaost constantly. And really, when you have to choose between a live show or a lip sync video you choose the fake video as the one that's magical and powerful?

+anjeroxjp Yep, live performances suck. That's why "I Think We're Alone Now" and "All This Time" continued to be shown on VH1 for years to come while this live performance was tossed out. You do the math.

"live performances suck" way to make a fool out of yourself. Tiffany was an amazing live performer But it's idiots like you who only pay attention to video clips who kill real artists and music and turn it into the circus it is nowadays. Digusting. live perfomance suck , who cares as long as you have big tits and a nice videoclip.

I was a bit older back when this came out, but still found it to be a sweet ballad of teen heartbreak. I'd been through it myself, and to hear this lovely young lady, with the powerful voice, put it out there with such feeling really spoke volumes to me.

5th grade! 87/88.. That was when I met her. We were friends through school, and like most people do, lose touch. In 2012 she came to a gig where I was drumming for a pretty killer band in Detroit. Well, we've been together ever since! These songs remind me of how fortunate I've been to be with someone who knows my background, who knew me when I was still a kid, and vice versa. It's like we're living in a perpetual state of childhood. So many nights are like a slumber party. It was everything I ever wanted, but way better than I could have imagined. It takes the sting out of missing those days where my grandparents, uncles, and Dad were still here, when I had no worries.
