Need a dominant No. 6 to stop transition goals against
@b3n3j5 ай бұрын
Often suggested, and I can see the attraction. However, with a fully fit defence, the goals conceded is fine, as illustrated. The bigger issue is the rate at which transitions happened, as the season wore on. We were either not being direct and dangerous enough to peg the opposition back, and/or lost the ball too cheaply which exposed us out of shape going the other way. The transition goals could be stopped by having a more effective and efficient attack which either does damage or retains the ball, rather than a new orthodox 6.
@jacklane36795 ай бұрын
@@b3n3jabsolutely bang on. We're desperate for reliable technical wingers with top quality control of the ball and ability pull defenders out of their shape as they carry. You'd see midfielders and attackers dropping back to fill gaps, rather than having a lot of luck stealing the ball and setting off counter attacks. A new 6 and a striker is great in theory, but honestly we've got a system that often wins the ball back high anyway and arguably the most deadly finisher in the league with back up options. I would rather spend all the money on better wingers and defensive depth.

Agree on the winger issue, it’s the main problem currently, with possibly Neto coming in it will help most definitely but Bakayoko availability would edge us to another level. Solanke would be a good replacement for richarlison I think, his aerial dominance would help us massively, unfortunately Richarlison being injury prone hammers the attack. Kulusevski is gradually being switched to a 10/8 where he looked quite comfortable in preseason as he’s not a good winger.
@footiegambler13475 ай бұрын

Hey, really enjoyed the video and the names suggested and how they could impact Tottenham in a positive way. A little side note however that I would like to add is that after Jose Mourinho’s appointment as Fenerbahçe HC, the team have really took a firm stance against selling any players from their last years squad, and have said numerous times that they have not even considered 35M€ bids from unnamed clubs for Ferdi after the euros. So I would really doubt Tottenham known for being stingy with their transfer funds would splash more than 40M€ on a left back, just my opinion tho

Good video you did a great job! Werner's loans was extended btw, not perm yet. From the winger / attacker perspective - I don't think Ange wants to create predetermined positions for the attacking 3 (behind the striker role). Kulu has been RW and no.10 for example. Johnson & Werner (less so for the latter) have played both sides. So I think versatility is a key requirement for that position too.

Tottenham don’t need another “fast striker” - they have that in Son. What they need is someone who is able to unlock tight defenses by being a presence in the box, a clinical striker with a good header on him. Richarlison can fulfill that role at times, but struggles with consistency.

@milesstiddard88075 ай бұрын
Just a guess but do spurs need home grown players?
@DjNaste5 ай бұрын
Not entirely true. Spurs are hurting specifically for "club-trained" homegrown players (players who have been with the club for 3 consecutive seasons before the season in which they turned 21). To register a full squad in Europe, each team needs to have 4 of these club-trained players and another 4 association-trained players (homegrown players from any other club). Spurs have plenty of association-trained players but are hurting for first team players that came from their own academy. This is why signing talented 18 year olds like Gray and Bergvall makes a lot of sense, as they will become club-trained in 3 years. Basically, signing any homegrown player from another club is arbitrary and really doesn't help them with the quota at all, and they shouldn't buy any homegrown players just for the sake of it.

Great video! 🖖 If Spurs want to be successful this season then Ange needs to adjust his tactics based on the players he has for the match. As Alex mentions, when we lost our core team for X reason(s), we suffered. It was talked about all the time. I loved the way we came out last season but I wasn't naive enough to think we could play that way as we started having injuries etc so it was disappointing that Ange did not adjust at least defensively. Whoever we have at the close of the window is who we have. It's up to Ange to make those players successful and realize that going 'Leroy Jenkins' into to every match is not possible nor prudent.

Just an opinion but I genuinely think we don't need a back up lb or lcb . We need two transfers a back up striker and creative midfielder like eze. Reasons we don't need a lb or lcb Jamie donley and djed Spence have been class this preseason and I hope they get an opportunity to play europa league or cup games. Now lcb with only 20 days or less left in this transfer window i think atleast till January we can hold out on the lcb option and save some fund there really on the likes of dragusin and Philips. We need to focus strongely on a st Someone like a toney who I know will be going for at the end of this window because Brentford will sell him they are not gonna let him go for a free . Other striker optiond like solanke and gyokeres even openda are too expensive at this point in time. Now on a creative mid or winger likes of Eze , Neto , bakayoko will be great but I believe we need to go all in one eze

Spence didn’t do at all well when he played there in the friendly - why ‘hold out’ when we can plug the gap now? @@noahrussell2043 no hate , I think you need to go back in your spare time and watch some of the performances djed Spence has put out this pre season against. Bayern especially defensively he was solid also he is really suited for that inverted full back role and he can play both lb and rb so we are actually sorted and we need to give our youth a chance players like donley need to be tested out at lb . About a lcb I do agree with you . We might need one. But us being in 5 competitions isn't a new thing we are a top 4/ champions league club and I believe that our academy players has enough quality to start cup games in the early stages/ rounds. But for depth having a lcb isnt like you said our priority. So for now its best we don't spend money on that and focus on getting in prem proven players like eze and toney.

So these are some points I’ll make as a Spurs fan before the video starts. Firstly, I don’t believe anyone inside the club sees Kulusevski as a right winger anymore. Rather, Kulu has most frequently been used so far in pre season as the no. 9 as well as the 10 and the 8. It’s clear he’s going to be a central player for us this season making the emphasis on signing a new 8/10 less important whilst signing a new winger becomes crucial. Next, and to nobody’s surprise, we need a striker. This will only be facilitated by Richarlison’s exit which is partly down to the fact that I believe the club now sees Kulusevski as competition for that striker role. It’s important that we sign the correct profile of player for our system to guarantee success as much as possible as strikers are typically the least predictable of new signings. On top of that, we are still having home-grown player status issues which brings me to Ivan Toney and Dominic Solanke. Solanke is currently in better form and is better suited to how we play, however will be the more expensive of the two. In terms of our defense, even with Emerson leaving we won’t need to sign a new right back as Spence has been one of our standout performers in pre season and Archie Gray can also cover there. Our starting backline is fantastic and needs no improvement. I believe with Dragusin as our 3rd choice center back, we should designate the 4th choice to Ben Davies who proved reliable (and seemed better suited there than left back), meaning, for me, the only defensive player we need to recruit is a left back to compete with Udogie. Currently my pick would be Locko from Brest but I would also like the idea of Robinson from Fulham. So that’s it for me, ideally this summer (on top of our official outgoings and incomings) we sell Richarlison to Saudi, Emerson to Milan, Skipp to a lower EPL side, Lo Celso, Reguilon and Solomon whilst bringing in a new right winger a Striker and a Left back. The most likely players for those three would probably be Neto, Solanke and Locko

Terrible choice of striker. We need someone to hold up the ball in attack and help lay it off whilst being able to press well and be a good finisher.

realistic transfers and the first one is the only person that De Rossi has said is untouchable

Werner hasn't been made permanent - the loan has just been extended to end of this coming season.

Ndicka wont leave Roma after just beingt bought and doesn't have the pace needed. A good alternative would be Lacroix

We have no money despite all the revenue..classic levy

@keanulee2142 all transfers are unrealistic as long as Levy is in charge. Levy only operates if there is a sale.

I don't think you factored in homegrown numbers with these picks. I like them all though, particularly Openda and Ndicka.

Bakayoko would be perfect for us. Surprised we arent linked

But don’t you think players like ndicka wouldn’t want to transfer to sit on the bench?

Guys, or fanst..., I know u'll hate this but this rebuild will take 4-5 years minimum. That is what it took Klopp and he is really really good. I believe in Ange, but he is given limited means to invest in the squad upgrade or Angeball-type of players that he wants so expect it to be a long process.

Ndicka won't come here to be a backup to Vdv. All other seem good. Openda looks impressive. Cunha is a good shout but looks like we're going to pay 65m for solanke

Good picks but I don't see Spurs getting much more business done in this window.
